I bet anything the shipment that was held up got held up more once they found out there was a defective unit in the new version. That's my theory.

Well the unit I had was sent back and will be reaching Vaporfection on the 5th of October, So they should be able to evaluate it and tell what went wrong with it, But I don't care how long it takes just so long a the unit works as advertised and I'm not inhaling plastic.

Greetings Everyone,

Here to give a quick update. Our warehouse is in the process of getting all the shipments ready and notifications should be sent out by the end of the week with the tracking information.

We did have a small delay in transit due to some logistical changes as well as being held briefly at US Customs before clearance, but units will start shipping out by Monday.

We'll be sending an e-mail update out as well, but I didn't want to leave everyone hanging.

Best,

Dan

Well, this is disappointing:

I received my new miVape yesterday. I got it too late in the day to actually try it (needed to charge for 3 hours first) but I thought I would check out the various components. When I tried to slide one of the bowls into the mouthpiece slot, it was VERY difficult. I didn't force it, took my time, and it eventually slid in. I thought perhaps that such a snug fit was a feature rather than a problem. This morning, I went to remove that bowl in order to give all the parts a once over with an iso-dipped swab. When I went to remove the bowl from the mouthpiece, it slid out very easily. Then I realized that was because the rim of the bowl had broken off in the mouthpiece's slot. I was able to pry the broken rim pieces out of the slot. In the interest of science (repeatable results, etc) I tried the other bowl. It slid in and out easily with no mishap. Don't know whether the slot (too narrow to handle variation in rim size) of the bowl rim (outside of spec) is the problem. I have emailed Vaporfection and await their response.

:ugh:

UPDATE:

I received both a phone call and an email from Dan @ Vaporfection less than 2 hours after I emailed them about my situation. I call that pretty damn good CS from the President/CEO of a company that is in the middle of a product roll-out AND a remediation of faulty product.

Dan's feeling is that I was a victim of a manufacturing anomaly and bad luck. He is sending me replacement parts (both mouthpiece and cups) which will hopefully get out in today's mail.

Also, he explained to me that one of the things they modified for miVape V2 is that there is a small tab in the slot for the bowl that is designed to keep it in place once inserted. So when you are sliding the bowl into place there should be VERY slight resistance and then it should slide easily. That is how it is working with my other, unbroken bowl.

Dan was EXTREMELY pleasant and helpful. He offered some tips for usage once I'm up and running. I asked him about the idea we were discussing here earlier about a spacer in the bottom of the cup. He confirmed a thought I had yesterday that you could use one of the waxy oil cloths for that purpose. He also mentioned picking up a small glass screen. BTW, the ceramic screens from VaporBros. are WAY too big.

I understand that people are frustrated with the miVape's manufacturing/shipping delays and growing pains. But as has been mentioned before, plenty of other vapes have had similar rough starts. I will be sticking with Vaporfection. Based on my experience today, I feel they are a company that is deserving of my support and I very much want to see them succeed.

My plan is to provide a full review once I've put the miVape through its paces. Can't promise that will be before next week, though.

Greetings All,

@moondog, Thank you for the kind words - we're happy to be of service however we can.

We wanted to let everyone know that our replacement units are starting to ship today and to also clarify that all the units we are replacing/selling and units sold by our distributor VaporNation and their network of retailers are all selling the latest version of the miVape. The best way to tell the difference between the first units sent out and the new units are by the logo on the covers. All new units have a recessed (debossed) logo on the side covers, while older units have a raised (embossed) logo.

Please also keep in mind that we've been collecting the first set of units over the last several weeks that had some of the initial issues so they should not be available to purchase from an authorized retailer. If for some reason a customer purchases an old unit, it will be replaced with the current version.

Tracking e-mails will be sent once the labels are scanned by UPS/USPS. If you don't see a tracking e-mail by Monday, reach out to support@vaporfection.com for an update.

We hope everyone has a great weekend.

Did you notice any foreign vapors? Or has the mouthpiece began to melt? You can see foreign vapors @ 5:27 There is more info on the testing in the video description on youtube

Here was my testing

I have not used the unit yet. I am going to wait for my new parts. I am paranoid that despite my going over it with a vacuum and an iso-soaked swab, some minuscule glass powder from the broken bowl might have ended up somewhere in the mouthpiece. Welcome to my own special brand of crazy.

On the good news front, I just got an email confirming that my new parts did get out in today's mail.

I would not recommend using ISO on the mouthpiece, I think that what may have resulted in mine melting by weakening the plastic (I soaked the mouthpiece in ISO 91% for 3-5 mins and noticed the orange painted arrows and "HOT" signs either faded or rubbed off completely), I am not positive that this resulted in the melting mouthpiece, however it seems possible.

I would use 420 Soak n rinse solution. you can buy it @ http://vaporfection.jmfserver.net/accessories/24-cleaning-solution.html

Sorry I wasn't clear. I never soak plastic parts in iso. I used a precision swab dipped in iso to clean off the screen and the glass mouthpiece stem.

I always empty out and brush clean my vape soon after each use, so it almost never needs a deep cleaning. When I do a more thorough cleaning, plastic parts only see water.

I might look into the 420 stuff since Dan recommended it also. I would be more willing to do so if I could find any information on the ingredients, but all I can ever find is "all natural ingredients", which means nothing. (Dan also said that soapy water would do as well.)

@moondog What were those glass screens you and Dan were talking about?

Would these work? http://aqualabtechnologies.com/honeycomb-glass-screens-five-pack.html

He didn't mention anything specific. The ones you link to look like a good candidate but I think they are too wide in diameter. The miVape's glass bowls are pretty narrow. The ceramic screens I have are .625" in diameter and they are WAY too big. Those screens you link to are between .28" and .31". I can't get an accurate measurement on the inside diameter of the bowl. Eyeballing it with a ruler, the inside width of the mouth looks to be a little over .25" and the bottom where the glass screen would sit is narrower. So I'm thinking they won't work.

I spent some time searching for a screen that would fit and came up empty -all too big.

Looks like using the oil cloths that come with the miVape may be the only option until we can convince Vaporfection to make their own glass screens. :brow:

Can anyone get an accurate measurement on that inside diameter? Does anybody know the diameter on those liquid pads for the Crafty? (I'm guessing they are also way too big.)

I've got the crafty pads to "mold" around for another vape. @Vape Dr. and I were messing around with this idea for the other vape. I bet the same could be applied to here.

I also vape nic e-juice. Early in the days we had to make our own coils with ss mesh screens for wicks. Felt like silk but it wicked liquid. The mesh is just finer than keif screens.

Anyway, perhaps ss cloth about the same size as the wax cloth might work

The Atmos glass screens fit inside the miVape quartz cups. They sit at the bottom and effectively create a small gap between the bottom of the cup and the screen so it will lift the herb off the bottom if that's what everyone was talking about using the screens for....

I am scheduled to get my replacement miVape this Wednesday so I will post my experience with the new unit, any differences I notice, performance, etc., and I will be experimenting too with screens and different approaches to find the best extraction. Looking forward to the new miVape!

I will also have a review up shortly after at: radvapereviews.wordpress.com

Right now you can see a bunch of photos of the miVape on that page but it is the first edition miVape. I will be adding more soon, hope you check it out!

Good news about the atmos glass screens. I thought they were too big. I'm guessing my complete lack of mathematical aptitude resulted in some wildly incorrect mm/cm/inches conversions. Maybe there are in fact other options as well.

Justin, I didn't realize you were the same Justin at radvapereviews. You've got me totally primed for the Grasshopper to be the next addition to my collection once I've settled in with the miVape.

Just heard from Dan he got my faulty unit and did tell me that it was running hot about 20-30 degrees hotter (possible faulty thermocouple) than it should have been, but he will need to wait until he gets back to home base to do more through testing, and he will keep me updated. I await until thursday to test the replacement unit. I will then keep you all updated :)

I'm expecting VERY professional reports from all of you tomorrow! No pressure...

I think @Just Justin Has it covered, He has a nice page up here https://radvapereviews.wordpress.com/ But I will do what I can. Some advice from Dan that I will follow, is just because the unit can go to 430F It is not recommended and likely unnecessary, So all my tests will be no higher than 360F. I will make a new unboxing video as well as a thorough product review.

Wish i could give good news.... Just got my replacement and it came with the Quartz in the unit (where the mouthpiece and loaded cup sit into) came cracked, and wont power on!!!! Tried charging the battery and the screen flashes between Mivape, charging and standby but doesnt stay constant on any one of those screens

Aethetics wise:
Battery still doesnt come out, battery door hinge is exactly the same, door doesnt sit flush... The top hinge for the mouthpiece is better though
