MiniVAP Vaporizer

Thanks for the warm welcome @lazylightning ! Dang, I didn't even know those small baskets existed- I definitely didn't get one with my kit. Seems like just what the Dr. ordered- on to the store! Not sure how I missed that!

So.....is it true that the ONLY place I can buy these 7.5ml baskets is minivap's own site? I'm hesitant to purchase from them due to the many, many instances of slow/non responsive service people on this site have had (I got my Minivap from Vapornation, they were great). Any alternate ideas?

Mod note: Three posts merged.

I thought someone here said the Extreme elbow screens fit this thing pretty well. Can anyone confirm?

Having used the TC a fair bit now I'm fully in love with it!

I think whether you'll prefer the GC or the TC will come down to personal preference, and I also think how you use your MV will also influence that decision. I don't use a water-tool, and I think that makes a big difference to my experience with the GC. Even on the lower firmware setting the GC clearly runs hotter than the TC, it produces bigger clouds but less flavour, it also seems to keep heating the herb between draws, which the TC doesn't. I expect if you're using a water-tool maybe the GC is the one to use as the fact that it runs hotter is negated by the cooling effect of the water, and you'll get bigger/better clouds from the GC.

With the GC I was using it mainly on the pink setting, and sometimes green for huge clouds but knowing it would make me cough! but with the TC it's green all the way, great smooth clouds and lovely flavour, the TC also lasts longer in that I get more draws from it.

The core is slightly narrower on the TC, i've found that the basket gets caught in it now and then, other than that they look and weigh pretty much the same.

So to summarise my opinions;

If you're using a water tool regularly and/or you just like huge clouds and aren't too bothered about taste, the GC is king.

If you prefer a fuller flavour, and cooler temps, and want longer smoother sessions with the ability to let the herb sit in the chamber without being heated between draws, the TC is king.

Oh, and a couple of comparison pics. EDIT - Just to make it clear, the difference isn't in the colour of the plastic at the top of the unit, it's in the chamber, the Teflon is white and plastic looking while the Glass is, well, glass looking!

I bought some Arizer screens and will give it a try tonight. I bought it because someone posted that it worked great on the minivap.

I think that it is great that minivap made 2 versions, to serve all the customers needs. I find the clouds to be plentiful on the tcmv, but wonder how big they can get. I tried the mighty and minivap side by side, and the cloud experience is similar (but requires a longer and stronger draw on the minivap: mighty does it for you). Overall, I think the minivap serves my purposes better (but not by much other than aesthetics, where minivap wins hands down)

1) aesthetics: the silver minivap is truly elegant. Different shade of silver than most other silver vaporizers.

2) taste: minivap wins, but mighty is Good too. Once I am able to find the right size whip, I think taste will even improve further on the minivap: currently using a long herbie whip.

3) smoothness: minivap wins, mighty packs a punch. But unfair comparison because I am using a long whip to cool the vapor on the minivap.

I don't know why I wrote this comparison: hopefully someone will find it useful. I did the side by side experiment yesterday and wanted to share my results. Only one session each because I was over medicated and passed out.

HUGELY beneficial! Thank you for that comparison! I think the teflon core would be better suited for me, maybe the glass core in the past when I was primarily a cloud chaser, but now I think i'd prefer better flavour and more comfy vapour. Thanks @Sid for the pics and feedback!

I agree glass-core vs. teflon-core is ultimately a question of preference. But using water doesn't really address the main limitation of the glass-core version, which is compromised taste.

Interestingly, I found I could get ENORMOUS clouds on my old teflon-core unit using water. They were so large I could cash a small basket in one or two hits through the bong on green. But I ultimately decided I preferred MiniVAPing dry because the water compromised the taste ever so slightly.

I guess I really am a flavor chaser lol.

To be fair, the clouds that the TC produces are absolutely awesome, it's just that the GC produces even better ones! :D

I'm a flavour chaser too, but decent clouds are also an important factor in a satisfying vape for me, so a good combo of the two is just the ticket, hence my love for the TCMV! :D

Guys, still new at this so forgive me if I'm not searching correctly (I tried to find this answer), but is it as simple as: if your core is white, it's teflon, black it's glass? Honestly, I didn't even know there were two varieties till I joined this forum yesterday!

Mine is white, so I'm assuming it's teflon. Thanks y'all!

Welcome here Splitsurround,

what i`m see on the shared picture is that the new unit has this black silicon part.
Exactly it doesn`t matter if its GC or TC. I`m not sure how the green or gold ones looks like?
Tomorrow my green GC unit should arrive to me, then i will see if its black or white.

But maybe you meaned the core itself only... :)

No, if you have glass, the walls of the herb chamber will be actual glass. It's unmistakable, really. It sounds from your description like you have teflon.

Yes, I'm almost positive I have teflon. I'll take a second look tonight though. Thanks,

I got the decarb kit just now. So I will be testing the decarb kit in my tcmv new heating system.

If I knew this vape was this good year ago or more wouldn't have bought herbalizer or cloud. Minivap is Def king fact I can take it anywhere the taste an effects it's best.

@splitsurround - if you have a teflon unit, it has a teflon insert that you can pull out with your little finger. If it's glass there will be no white wall at all.

fwiw, I always reach for my teflon unit and last night was very impressed with the clouds! The glass one produces thicker clouds, but it ain't by much.

Almost there...
I am still considering a GCMV...

But the TCMV is such a great tool!
Lately I have been using my wife as a test subject! Since she only vapes a bit at night, her tolerance is almost zero, so it makes for fun testing!!
The MV has the ability to get her super high, imagine Space Balls Ludicrous Speed scene!

I have never seen her get so animated, loud, belligerent and fun all at the same time!!!

All my other portables did not manage to achieve this, so I take it as a good thing!

For myself the small basket is usually too much, especially dry. With a WT it is too small and I switch to the larger basket but also get at least two good sessions from it!

So far the TCMV has become my daily drive with the Nano on standby! Even the heat up time does not bother me anymore, I have worked it into my routine.

I am sure we will have another concert by the end is Saturday joining our ranks!!!

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
The Extreme Q baskets work great. Fit is perfect and size is in between the MV basket sizes. This is perfect for me. I found the MV large basket too big and the small basket too small so now I exclusively use the Q baskets.

My ideal basket size would be right between the 2 sizes too. I'm about ready to order some Q baskets but wondered if anyone happens to have a side by side photo of the baskets? Are they almost exactly the diameter of the MV baskets or would more air flow around the sides of the Q baskets?

good question and the answer is that they are almost exactly the same diameter at the rim, and if anything the outer diameter of Q basket is a touch larger. I would need a precise caliper to measure the difference, it's microscopic.

bonus feature of the Q baskets is they make neat little caps for the large baskets (VXL style), which is also fun

Thanks for your answer @kimura. I'm off to place an order for a bunch of Q baskets!

@lazylightning how do you like the taste of the MV compared to the Herbie and EVO? I much prefered the Herbie to EVO, and I know @lazylathe prefers the MV's taste to the Herbie. Herbie is the best vapour i've tasted.

I prefer the MV for full flavor throughout the session. With the EVO I can taste the first hit or two even better than the MV but then the flavor declines. The Herbie is more difficult to compare with whip or bag, but when I hit straight through my HT I find it pretty comparable to the EVO. Great taste first couple hits and then less.

I don't know how the MV preserves the flavor so well to the end!
