I have had iolites for a while. Cool enough but I don't like being committed to a full bowl and like it or not I don't like the Butane.

I had a Vapir NO2 and the plasticizer smell would not go away. I believe you have to be really careful with selecting a smoking / vaping device based on the materials. Would not buy another Vapir product.

I've purchased my fair share of Launch Boxes. My current fave, but I much prefer with the AC-powered adapter. Too bad you can't get that kinda juice in a portable. I've had torn screens despite the extreme care to them.

So now looking to see if there's another option for a cordless portable.

Have you checked out the ThermoVape? The materials are all medical grade, the design is modular, and it uses the same battery chemistry that is found in hybrid/electric vehicles.

The ThermoVape looks VERY interesting! Too bad their site is down. I'll head over to the specific vape forum and look this one up.

Thanks a lot. That's right along the line of what I was looking for.

that is my general opinion of my iolite, also. and my MFLB didn't deliver vapor fast enough for me.

i believe that a concentrate portable is the way to go. I love my Onicron, and some of the other look great also. (TV.Rev)

a friend has been using BHO in my old mflb with much success.

That ThermoVape looks fabulous. I don't do many concentrates currently, but am looking at Ethanol extraction right now. I suppose in that case you'd recommend the revolution? I gather there are two different vapes.

Yes they are separate but use the same base, like I said, modular, but start with whichever device suits your needs first, then you can expand later if you want. The different tops just screw on and off . . . so simple. Here is a great video that shows a complete breakdown as far as you can go without tools. Nate's design has an organic simplicity to it that I really like.

I saw that vid on YouTube a few minutes ago. Thanks for posting that. This is a very promising unit

I love how you can boil it to clean it as well. Medical grade ceramics excite me :) Anyways the thread here has great info. OF, sessnet, Pecosthecat, and many others (too many to list them all) have contributed so much there . . . great resource. The TV is a very personal device. Its not a party vape, it really was designed with the medical user in mind. Also, there is a learning curve with this vape but you can read all about that in the thread.

Thermovape kicks ass. it`s like the mflb, but it hits harder.

if you want to stay portable i say thermovape.

the solo is a good one to consider if you don`t require stealth too!

I just got this bug up my butt today after my second mflb screen failure. After looking around this TV seems like the ticket. Appreciate the opinions.

+1 for ThermoVape or Solo.

ThermoVape if you want more Stealth and Durability.

Solo if you want more Power and Battery Life.

ThermoVape = 1 piece, fits in the pocket..batteries are a bummer though. There are many way to modify/change/use the ThermoVape.

Solo = Killer sessions, but glass stems aren't as portable or durable as ThermoVape. There are some non-glass stems in the works now.

I take my ThermoVape with me everywhere, but prefer Solo at home. Although I've taken the Solo out and about, it's just not as pocket friendly, or easy to use in a rush.

I like the stealth aspect, so the TV gets an extra point for that. The glass on the solo seems like a liability.

Be sure to read the entire TV thread. When I stopped following it, there were a lot of people complaining about how finicky the TV could be, but it's possible that users have developed techniques to avoid the issues I was reading about. Also, anyone who was annoyed with managing batteries for the LB will not find the TV to be an improvement.

my :2c: on portables:
I own a MFLB, Solo and Omicron.
If we're counting butane powered, I've also got a Gn0me, Vaporstar, and VG Steel Bat.

I have never been a massive fan of the MFLB.
It certainly has its place among portables, but IMO, there are other vapes to fill its spot.

For stealth, My vote goes to the Omicron.
Its damn quick to hit, can be very easily concealed in a pocket, hand etc.
You also don't need to worry about batteries or butane, a single charged battery can get me 100ish hits.
I'd hate to think how many MFLB Batts I'd need for that kind of performance.
You also don't need to bring herb with you, as a cart loaded with 1g of BHO (or similar) will get you 250-400 hits.
Thats why the Omi gets my vote for a stealth portable.
(I haven't tried the Thermovape yet, so I can't weigh in on that one.)

If we are talking less stealth, and you just want something that easy to take around to a friends place, then I would say its a toss up between the Gn0me & the Solo.
They are both about as portable as each other (with the solo you need to have stem(s) with it, for the Gn0me, a torch).
The solo is easier to use, just load it up, set it to your number, and wait a minute or 2.
I have yet to break a solo stem that I wasn't seriously mistreating.

I get 6-8 cycles of 12 minutes (the solos auto-shutoff time) per charge, which will easily last me a night of heavy vaping. I have yet to have my solo actually have the battery die in a session, as I charge it when I go to sleep. I wake up, and its ready for another day.

You need to be a bit more careful with the Gn0me, as you are heating it yourself, and overheating can lead to combustion.
Having said that, it is truly an all glass airpath, from start to finish, with no butane or anything else nasty being mixed in with the vapor, leading to some of the best tasting hits I've gotten from any of my vapes.

Basically, to sum up this big post, IMO:
If you want stealth/an out-and-about vape, go for the Omicron.
If you want nice clouds, good flavour, and are mainly using it indoors, but would like it to be portable, go for the Gn0me.
If you want somewhere in between, but still less of a stealth situation, go for the Solo.

TBH, at its price, I'd recomend the Gn0me and one of the others, as it really is a great price for such a quality vape, but I know that isn't exactly within everyones budget.

Thermovape is definately cool. Great for single use. In terms of batteries and swapping of said batteries, it's similar to the LB's characteristics.

MFLB's can't be beat for super stealth situations. But you already know that.

I've had the Omicron for a very short period of time, so I'm no expert, but it is convenient and stealthy and it can deliver the goods for sure. I really do prefer vapor from flowers, though. The taste is so much better than oil IMO. The TV Rev is great for oil, too. But it's more of a load as you go device rather than a load for a day device like the Omicron.

The gnome is a really cool device, but not as simple to use on the run as most portables. Great taste, and I only use with a bong, so it's not really that portable for me.

The Solo wins for ease of use for me. Load it and go. Period. Virtually zero learning curve for noobs and provides nice thick hits.

As you can see there are a lot of options these days, so it really depends on your priorites.

Great testimonials!! Thank you all. I may just get my MFLB replaced and get a big desktop like the SSV or Cloud.
