I really wish I could have a personal time travel device; the gods are cruel to curse us with stupidity when we are at our physical prime. Wisdom comes with age but alas so does physical infirmity and sickness. I wish I could age backwards. How awesome would that be?

I don't mean this to be a shameless plug, I just don't know any other way around it to comment. If moderator feels it is inappropriate, I understand.

I just published a time travel called Hostage in Time. The main character goes back in time while filming an historic house. I love those preservation, the concept of time travel, Back to the Future films, Somewhere in Time and Jack Finney. I don't mean to plug my book but I write time travel and Alan was posting and I thought I'd say hello to all and join in the conversation because I had something to contribute!

If we've derailed to recommending time travel novels, then I want to recommend Connie Willis. To Say Nothing of the Dog is my favourite, especially since it is inspired by another (non-time travel) favourite of mine, Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog). Doomsday Book is set in the same universe. Although it was well written, I found it depressing. I enjoyed Fire Watch, which is a collection of short stories using the same setting.

Is it possible for Us or any physical entity of trillions upon trillions of particles of matter to return to a state ( or instance) where everything in the whole entire universe was the same as it was when you picture, in your mind , this moment in time?

I also KNOW we and ,the trillions of atoms and molecules that makes us, are all made of stars.
Maybe someday trillions of years from now our atoms will make stars again. Also maybe after that star dies and explodes all of those atoms and particles can make us again.

Hi Jeffp! Oh yes I have read Bid Time Return and know about SIT. Loved it! I also love Jack Finney. His Time and Again is an incredible time travel classic, as well as his other books. And Steven King's Four Past Midnight is also good.

I get great ideas and concepts when I'm high and always keep a notebook and pen handy. Do you find that vaping enhances the actual writing process aside from ideas? I ask because I've done alot of creative work stoned especially if I think the project calls for it. CreateSpace is a great service and I think a game changer in the world of publishing.

Oh, yes, vaping adds to the writing experience when I am in that mode, for sure! Especially Blue Dream
The next imprint I use with CreateSpace will be with my own company as the freedom of expression is wonderful for authors now in publishing. More creative control! Thank you...cover art was a stickler for me. I'm a believer that the message should always be hidden within the cover art....and much of that is in mine.

I keep a journal now on my ipad for thoughts and ideas, but have kept handwritten journals for years. There is something about ink on paper in a leather-bound journal that calls to me of yesteryear's.

Not novels - my friend and I went the novelty book approach - satirical graphic coloring books, a particularly psychotic cookbook, etc. We've done a few crazy spoken word CDs that at one time got a lot of airplay on college stations and free form stations like WFMU. That said, I'm actually in awe of anybody who can tackle a full novel.

How did you deal with the formatting of the interior so it didn't look like a word processing document?

As far as I can gather, there's no reason a person couldn't travel into the future utilizing time dilation, we'd just need to go really fast (but still theoretically possible fast)

Once we get into traveling into the past, that's where you get paradoxes and alternate universes and all that other lovely brain-melting stuff...

Time is a very, very strange thing...

Frederick seems to have the same general understanding that I do on this topic. I'm surprised no one mentioned these Hawking explanations yet. It seems that traveling into the future is more of a possibility than traveling into the past...

Thank you for the kind comments. The book is a labor of love for me. I'm working on a couple others. One about my work and a second time travel. As to your formatting question, the interior is done by the independent publisher. In this case, CreateSpace. I'm good on a desktop, but not that good!

Unless I'm collaborating I tend to need a gun to my head to complete anything, except for ABV brownies. Seriously what you're doing is pretty damn impressive. Seems like CreateSpace provides a wealth of useful info with articles and a forum, as well. As far as formatting goes, for my next project I think I'm going to try it myself using a word processing program called Scrivener as opposed to paying CreateSpace $379 for the formatting. I've read that Scrivener automates the interior formatting process whether it be paperback, hardcover, trade paperback.

With our books we found a brilliant young artist from posting an "artist wanted" ad on Craigslist, Nova Villanueva. From the ad I was deluged with email responses and the only way I was able to make a determination was to go by immediate vibe by way of looking at portfolios fairly stoned which really helped alot. When I saw her work there was no further deliberation - she deserves to be very recognized and successful.

It's amazing how much clearer my thought process is while "under the influence."

You sound like a pretty creative person yourself! I am a believer in all things happening in their time and all things fall together nicely when I allow that.

There are many options for Indie publishing out there, and Createspace is just one of them. I like the connection to Amazon and not having to deal with the ebook issues, etc. as they handle it. However, creative control is the most important, and so I diligently press forward with that in mind. Though the basic formatting package you read about was $379.00, a book usually ends up a a couple thousand when all is said and done. When they print a book every fee is extra: editing, cover art, formatting, proofreading, distribution, bookmarks, ebook formatting, sales distribution, etc. Then there is the cost of having some books on hand for The Tour of book signing. Though we have the internet, a book doesn't sell itself and it's important to meet the people, as as utilize social media! All of that adds up too.

Hey! You are right! This IS some accomplishment for me ! LOL Especially for an MMJ patient and Vaporist!

Btw, I'm new to cooking with ABV, but enjoying it and experimenting. Vaping is a wonderful way to relax as well as to create. If you have any recipes for ABV please post...and direct me as to where as I have not been posting much due to some migraine/neck issues, and I want to post in the right thread.

I'll respond to the rest later and there's a lot to say about that but... here's how I make ABV brownies - I took Vtac's original recipe and tweaked and changed it around a little and at one time here a stoner chemist made some useful suggestions and this is the resulting recipe:

Save up 1/2 cup of ABV. This will take awhile especially if you use a log vape. Run it through an electric coffee grinder so it's powder fine. Then take a bamboo skewer and nudge around the blades, etc., to get all the material. Then add that to 1/2 cup of canola oil in a mason jar. Make sure it's not "low fat." You want as high a fat content as possible. Add a dash of sea salt and about a teaspoon of vinegar (this will serve as a detergent). Seal up the mason jar and give it a good shake and put it in a dark cabinet. Leave it alone for four or five days except to give it a shake every day.

On the 4th or 5th day it's ready. Simply use this oil as the oil that the brownie mix calls for and follow the recipe on the box - except that if the recipe calls for 350 degrees don't bake them higher than 325 and let it bake a few minutes longer.

Back on topic, you will transcend time completely using this method....

Just actually implemented the recipe I posted and I'm happy to report that I forgot what I was going to say....

- a friend of mine asked me to make a batch for his friend's father who is in a nursing home and "can't score." interesting coincidence that I posted the recipe in answer to your question the day I was planning on make them.

- when you make your own, don't worry about straining the bud from the oil - it's a hassle and not at all necessary. just stir the oil into the brownie mix alot - you want an even distribution.

- I'm gauging the intensity to advise my friend regarding the dosage for his friend's father - I think I'll be able to make a good guestimate on what's appropriate and what's too much.

- Soon I'll be at the CCC - the chewy caramel center....

I can vouch for jeffp's method. It works very, very well Just be careful, how much oomph remains in your "leftovers" might surprise you... For this reason I plan ahead so they come out about 1g per brownie. A few of 'em is definitely a step in the right direction for time travel...

Courtesy of the collected leftovers from a few nice strains; it is a majestic bonus for a job well done. There would have to be an extenuating circumstance for me to consider simmering again which is something that I don't anticipate, realistically,
as I think about it. Leeching is in my opinion slightly superior and has side benefits. The black gooey sacramental oil gets you floating through the keyhole in the right direction for time travel.
