I bet every politician loudly pissing their pants over TikTok is heavily invested in Meta and Google. They probably take millions in direct bribes from them as well.

American Big Tech is pissed that a Chinese company has outcompeted them. Google straight up stole TikTok's business model with thier "YouTube" shorts. But competition is hard and expensive. Much cheaper and easier to purchase politicians to ban your competition.

Unless Congress is going to regulate how all of Big Tech uses data, this whole TikTok ban is a farce. Any bit of data the Commie Chinese could steal from American consumers was already stolen. It's all for sale from Data Brokers online. And they'll sell to anyone with the cash to pay.

Yep, it's still. snowing here as well, we added about 18" since spring and have heavy snow forecast through the weekend. I haven't seen a deer in months, we usally have a dozen in sight of the cabin at any given moment. We have pioneer families up here for 5 generations who say they've never seen a winter like this. Massive animal die offs of 80% of our herds seems to be the case here as well.

While every death is a tragedy and guns laws definately need to be improved this is a statistics game.

First they classify Children as over 1 years old and under 20 years old to get this result because when children are categorized as birth to 18 guns are not the leading cause of death.

Congenital abnormalities are the leading cause of death in infants, and surpass the number of firearm deaths among all children up to age 18. So by dropping children less than a year old and including 19 year olds as children they achieve the desired result. I know a lot of 19 year olds and none of them consider themselves children.

The government also has a hard on for assault rifles but not handguns. Interesting since according to the FBI, hands, and feet are used more often to murder people than a rifle.

The FBI’s Crime Data EXPLORER shows that of the 17,813 homicides reported in 2020, 662 of them were committed with "personal weapons" — which the site describes as hands, fists, feet, etc. In the same year 455 homicides were committed with rifles.

So the actual problem is handguns not rifles, but for some reason it's the rifles they are so intent on banning. (You figure out why)

And realisticly mental health is the real issue since sane, well balanced individuals don't murder each other or shoot up schools, those are people with mental.issues and a gun. People with mental health issues should definately be denied guns.

Proper background checks work. Period. Find me ONE news story about a murder with a machine gun in the USA since the Class 3 license was required for purchase or ownership of a machine gun. You can't, there hasn't been one. Yeah its a 10 month to a year wait but it's stops people who shouldn't have the weapon from getting it and that is worth the wait and inconvenience. I fully support this along with full prosecution of those who lie to purchase a firearm.

If you dig deep enough there have been 2 crimes with class 3 items in history. Both times a police officer broke the law, not a private citizen, 1 officer murdered his wife and another officer provided a silencer to a gang in exchange for drugs. So they only crimes with class 3 were by the only ones anti gun people want to have them.

because America is a mental asylum operated by crooks. The gun rights folks seem to think they will be (one day that never comes) able to take on the Fed with their AR-15s and then there'a a bunch of people (with equally warped politcal views) who are adamant that only the government (who has murdered millions) can be trusted to have all the guns.

The owners of gun companies who sell to both the government and the public are laughing at everyone else from their high security mansions because US law ( drafted without any public understanding) gives corporations the same rights as individuals and protects their bottom line...

Haha this is some great gymnastics here. Thanks for the long essay to basically say that newborns don't get shot instantly after birth and instead generally die from birth complications, absolutely profound.

Obviously these statistics are demonstrating there's a threat to school aged children specifically when it comes to guns.

Nope not a single gymnastic from me, just the cold hard facts. They didn't say school aged children, they said children and then included humans 1-19. The only gymnastics were from the people who made the stats lie to tell the story they wanted told.

If they said guns were the leading cause of school aged children I would have agreed. I fully support a thorough investigation into where guns deaths happen, why they happen and laws to see that those senseless murders are stopped.

Like I already said class 3 licensing works, show me a murder with a class 3 weapon.

Frankly, I think if we want to have a "well regulated militia" we should require all gun owners to commit to consistent training and regular mental health screenings. Rights come with responsibilities. And untrained idiots "Constitutionally Carrying" makes everybody less safe.

Statistics can be manipulated to help people lie and tell a narrative that suits them, just as you did. Statistics that "lie" wouldn't be statistics at all.

You take issue with the language used e.g. "children" to describe 1-19 year olds. Despite laws that may say otherwise I still consider 19 year olds to be more child than adult and I think most people in their late 20s on would agree. My point was that you were taking umbrage with something that isn't sneaky or underhanded at all, you just don't like what those statistics show in this case.

Huh so when you want thier vote, they can vote at 16, or if suits several other agendas they can make life decisions at 5, but when it benifits your argument they're still kids at 19. Interesting gymnastics and dishonest from the start.

If you can't have an honest discussion with facts you don't belong in the decision making.

Rescue underway for pod of dolphins stranded by ice in Dildo Cove​


A pod of hapless white-beaked dolphins has been stranded by sea ice in the shallow harbour outside Dildo, N.L.

The dolphins could be seen swimming in circles just metres away from worried onlookers, trapped in an area about the size of a residential swimming pool.

People in the area told CBC News they hadn't witnessed stranded dolphins in Dildo Cove for decades.

By lunchtime Thursday, three of the 10 dolphins had been pulled out of the water by Fisheries and Oceans Canada officials, a process requiring workers and volunteers to submerge themselves in the frigid seawater in a bid to guide the dolphins closer to shore.

Those three dolphins died before they could be relocated.

Seven more remained in the harbour as of mid-afternoon, unable to swim out to the open ocean due to arctic pack ice that had drifted almost to shore.
