I don't get baited easily. If I boarded a crowded flight and saw my best friend Jack I would not make the mistake of saying (HiJack). I think that Musk made a mistake without any thought of Nazism.If you think it's ridiculous, you don't know what Naziism is. On another site I saw a posting that someone submitted that shows Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kamala raising their hand in a Nazi salute. They were harmless gestures and taken out of context could be construed as a Nazi salute. Obviously to most of us this is not what it appears. I certainly don't think that Hillary etc. are Nazis. But again, some small mined folks may think their "salutes" were Nazi related.
I think his "salute" appeared to be ugly. I still don't believe he has Nazi leanings.

Genuine question, what would it take to convince you he is a Nazi (aside from Musk saying verbatim “I am a Nazi”)?
We have:
For the salute itself:
- video of him doing the salute twice from several angles
- folks attempting to excuse it as a roman salute, which was the same origin attributed to Mussolini’s and later Nazi’s fascist salutes (I believe the US Bellamy salute was also attributed the same origin, but that was dropped because of WWII)
- current day neo nazis doing the same salute
Politics (not relinking since Floriduh covered most of this already):
- his express support for far right ideologies that are similar to or the same as the Nazis (eg: hatred for queer folks including his daughter, great replacement theory, etc)
- amplifying neo nazi and fascist voices such as the AFD
- silencing critics on twitter (first I remember was banning NPR as “state propaganda”, has escalated to basically anyone who criticises him)
- full throated support of trump who has expressed admiration for hitler, champions similar policies to him, and has close ties to both neo nazi groups and self identified neo nazis (edit: it’s arguable whether trump actually believes in the cause since the only thing trump truly seems to support is power for himself)

That quote is a banger. While Sartre specifies antisemites, it applies equally to all fascists. At the time, Nazis were the premiere fascists in the world.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, particularly when it comes to Musk. The entire media across the political spectrum has spent the past 10+ years telling the public Musk is an Einstein-level genius who will save humanity with his miracle technology. Even now, despite what our local Canadian Trumpist believes, the mainstream media is running interference for Elon's salute.
Propaganda works and is difficult to overcome.
That having been said, I'm done arguing about this.

Same, it’s been very difficult the past decade watching folks I looked up to as a kid, from JKR to Musk to some of my aunts/uncles, becoming hate fuelled husks of the people I thought I knew. I keep hoping that folks who feign ignorance just haven’t been paying attention, but propaganda is a hell of a drug.
