When Americans were asked which three Americans they had the least respect for in a 1964 Gallup poll, King came in second at 42%. This was barely less than the 47% registered by George Wallace, the segregationist governor of Alabama. Only 17% mentioned King’s name, when asked which three Americans they had the most respect for.
It is extremely difficult for people to face their own flaws and failures. MLK made the racism in this country clear and obvious and required people to acknowledge it, even if that resulted in many of them giving in to it. Americans were forced to deal with the fact that we had not gotten over the Civil War and reconstruction was more a failure than a success. Those are hard truths, especially for those with a poor understanding of what "exceptionalism" really means in America. Even today, most noticeably in Florida at this moment, many want to hide from the truth of the past, rather than face it and progress. They find comfort in their misunderstanding of exceptionalism, as if it only applies to white men.He was one of the most hated men in America at the time.
Imagine if you will, a timeline where meatball Ron is instead mechanic Ron. He just understands cars better than people, infinitely better. I know it doesn't take a mechanic to know basic shit like this but it just sprang to mind and it's a timeline I think would be preferable to the reality. Regardless, pretty awful timing for this kind of a blunder and I hope it's not as bad as expected(storm and tainted gas).”You’re going to have people potentially just stuck on the side of the road, I mean, if you fill up your tank with diesel and then you start driving it, it’s not going to end well,” he said.
though no evidence of Communist influence.
Circling back to that "debate",I watched that debate.
For all the talk of how we need to get all the old people out of politics, the two smarmiest politicians to enter the scene recently are Millennials in their 30's: Vivek and Mayor Pete.
Pete Buttegieg is gonna make a good president one day.
I have no arguments with you on Ramaswamy. I think he's an idiot and will get nowhere in politics. Personally, I see him as a bad version of Andrew Yang.
But Buttegieg is a different story, and like it or not I think he has a future in politics, especially among the younger voters. And he is far and away the most capable Democrat for making Fox News commentators look like the fools that they are. Being able to go on their network and make them look feeble is a useful skill in American politics.
Just gonna leave these here...The company he worked for is McKinsey. One of those disgusting management consulting companies that charges 7 figures for "advice" like, "you guys should lay off 30% of your workforce and ship the jobs to India".
Fuck that hateful bastard but I agree seeing this still makes me sad.I can't stand seeing this dude fall apart in public! I mean for goodness sake know when enough is enough and slip into the shadows!
