Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

This is a loan from the company. It doesn't belong to me, I am trying it out to give feedback. Read about 10 pages back to get caught up. Welcome to FC GoLd.

These models go on sale sometime around Oct. or so. I'm sure Indica will keep us posted.

I definitely would buy one of these units.

EDIT
Tanz, I wonder if you have an extra sensitivity to smells? I remember the Ascent was giving off odors too.
You are talking about BC Vapor that you are dealing with. I had to look at your posting the time before to get it straight. You are not talking about the Indica company. The representative from Indica, Mike is on the road until Sept. he said.
It looks like it was Friday that you contacted BC Vapors. Ive never done business with them.
Hey Carol, thanks for the kind welcome :)

Since my original post I have read the last 8 pages or so, and I saw your's, Dr Vape and Stu's posts on the beta testing. I'm looking forward to reading your review when you post it.

I'm about to take my first plunge into the vaping pool and get my first vaporizor, and I think I've narrowed it down to the Solo or the Indica.

I'd get the Solo 1st it's well proven and you won't be disappointed you could always use it for a home vape also ,and then grab the Indica v2 when they're ready.
(the video above pretty much sold me on the v2)
And you can get the Solo for $130 on eBay

I've been watching this also but waiting for the v2.
And as a rule of any vaporist you will need more than one anyway. You'll see.

With the plastic smell and fumes that still pours off this thing, It's hard to believe that it's possible there are units out there without this problem. And reading through this thread a little more, I find it very strange that I'm not the only one who was first duped by davinci, and decided on an indica to find the same problem. These portables all off gas, don't they.

It's not hard to believe at all. A lot of members have an Indica now, and this thread isn't flooded with complaints. I have both the original SS model and the new black model, and I don't have any fumes that I can detect. It's something I look for specifically before I use a new device.

That was one of the options that I thought was really a plus was the magnetic oven door. I could see myself loosing it, since it's not attached. The unit that I have came with an extra oven door.

No, BCVapor is the place I got it off, and they are actually really good, just to be clear, I am speaking of Indica. I wanted to talk to the actual manufacturer before doing anything because I don't know if I should exchange or refund and was hoping they could give me some hope for a better unit.

I am really sensitive to smell, but it's the fumes that I can see that concern me most. And I know this does not seem to be the norm but I did get two different units that both smoked...what are the chances...? It just happened like that.

It happens, it sucks, but it happens. Patiency will pay off on the end...

Also, the original silver units have magnets for the lids too by the way.

Also re: Solo vs Indica, I prefer the Indica to the Solo now, in most every way. But the Solo is a great allaround vape at awesome value (though I've had some malfunction trouble with those as well, the risk of electronics...)

Of course I'm not denying there are people out there enjoying their vapes with no problems, because it seems that many are. But just for me personally it is at this point because of my experience so far with two portables and the same problem. I was expecting to be vaping by now but it just ain't happening. Imagine this...3 Ascents, with visible off gassing, and then move on to another unit and to my surprise the same thing happening. I was crazy excited about the Indica, thinking that there would be no problems. And after what I went through with the Ascent, and now the Indica, of course I'm just frustrated and thinking they are all the same. And it just seems really strange that looking back in this thread, someone else had the same experience with their new Ascent and bought this unit, same as me, and then experienced the same problem. Strange, but it's not only me.

The Indica is mostly stainless steel except for the top plate and the mouthpiece. If there's any off gassing that would be the only place. I'm no engineer just my 2 cents worth.:2c:

Not to bash a product but I thought it would cook the herb like the Pinnacle Pro, not the case. This unit 's vapor flavor is exceptional.

@CarolKing I've seen two different styles of mouth pieces on the black Indica now. I prefer the look of the one you've posted pictures of, as it doesn't have the Zippo-esque pseudo holes in the sides. Do you know if that will be an option for the general consumer, or is it unique to your circumstance?

Thanks.

That is just a new silicone cap for the mouthpiece, can be placed on any version

@CarolKing if the unit is defective it will offgas, the defect adds something else in between the stainless steel vapor path. That was a QC issue that was recently solved, but faulty units are still out there and unfortunate for some.

A properly working unit can make someone unsure how there could ever be faults, since the indica is just so surprisingly wonderful in its vapor quality and efficiency!

Mine had visible fumes for a couple minutes during initial burnoff. I then did another burnoff with no fumes. It had a new electronic smell that took about a week to disapate. Are you sure this isn't what your experiencing?

Anything new and electronic will smell ....new an electronic. Indica should provide carbon packs inside box to eliminate this.....also get rid of the baggie the indica comes sealed in, let her breathe a little....

I don't know, maybe Dr. Vape knows? Dr Vape has had some difficulty lately. He had a robbery at his house. I'm sure he's been busy with that.

I really like the mouthpiece. The other model looks like it was metal and hard. This mouthpieces is very soft and comfortable on the lips. I can take it off and clean the mouthpiece very easily too. I would hope this will be the future mouthpiece. I think Mike will be checking in periodically even though he's on the road. You could PM him about that.

I missed the part about faulty units when I read through the thread. There must not be very many. I've read a lot of positive. Tanz possibly has one of those units unfortunately?

Without seeing the inside, it's impossible to say what it could be. But there is some plastic at the oven door and the door itself did get sticky after the first burn off as if some oils melted out of it and it stayed sticky. However, I do not think it is that plastic that is causing the continuous fuming because it happens with the oven door off and seems to be coming from in behind the oven and it does smell like plastic. It does also smell like that stain/varnish they used on the case too.

It is a very small unit and with whatever is in there, batteries, electronic's etc, being so close to a very hot oven is obviously causing a problem with my particular unit. I do recall actually, on one call to the company, the sales line did say that there was an issue with some kind of tape being wrapped around the oven that could have melted and is continuing to melt, but they couldn't really say anything else about it and said that CS would get in touch with me. I don't know, maybe it's something like that.

I was really hoping it was just that because the smoke did seem to go away about 4 minutes in to the first burn off but of course it still smelled like plastic but it is new and I did expect that. So I got all hyped up and went for another burn off, while almost ready to jump in, to my surprise, smoke again, but worse the second time. I figured more burning off would do it but nope. And when I opened the oven that was when I really saw it...a pretty big plume came out of there upon opening it and then wisps and some streaming smoke here and there, and it seems that it just will not go away.

Did you wipe your unit down with ISO (alcohol)?.

With extra batteries the Firefly is expensive. It lasts for 12 min then it needs charged? I think we're looking at apples and oranges a different kind of a vaporizer. There is no temp indicator with the Firefly. I've never used one, but I've read through the thread in the beginning, the first 20 pages. I lost interest. I hear the Firefly has good flavor though.

I think we need to concentrate on the Indica here. This is the Indica thread not the Firefly.

Hey Al,

Thanks for the heads up on FC vendors possibly price matching, I've sent off a few emails to Puffitup and VaperWorld so we'll see. I have done a great deal of reading on the Solo, Indica, Firefly and the Ascent, but have narrowed it down to the Solo or the Indica. Mostly based on price and user Reviews, I like your suggestion of getting the Solo now and the Indica when the new one comes out. Out of curiosity, why do say that I'll need more than one?

Thanks,

It's difficult to know when the black v2 Indica will be available, we're hearing Oct. This is the Indica tread. The Solo is a very trusted vaporizer that's been in the market for 3 years. Go to that thread if interested in the Solo.

It's always good to have more than one vaporizer. You never know when shit happens. Need to have a back up, a vaporizer that is reliable. Preferably different than the one you already own.

It's also a matter of convenience, if you have a very high consumption rate like I do, a single portable even with two of the highest capacity batteries available, won't last you the entire day. That is of course, unless you keep charging it everytime in between sessions... and this becomes impractical pretty quick, especially if you spend some of your day far from power outlets...

I found that two portables with big batteries (Ascent+FlowerMate) is the bare minimum for me, and I still have to charge them there and there through the day, and definitely every night or in the morning just after waking up. I even have a third vape (Firewood with PA) as a backup because one of my two daily driver might fail at any time, and I so don't want to have to combust again.

Other members will also tell you to get a butane-powered backup vape in case you have no access to leccy. I'm personally not fond of butane, so instead, following one FC member recommendation (battery packs thread) I bought a super cheap 4-slots external battery charger case in China + 4x high capacity 18560's to put inside, this way I'm able to re-charge my vapes when I'm "in the wild".

Yeah I am certain @Tanz has a defective unit, I've experienced several after I busted my flawless original (still miss it dearly...) so what he's describing is something that will be covered and Indica will replace it for him as soon as they are able. Its tough with a new small company, but I'm sure there are people who dont post here that have received defective units, whether they know it or not.

My original unit had no off smell whatsoever out of the box, tasted fantastic from the beginning. As you say, it really is such a small device, so there isn't a high margin for error when assembling them. So that's why the factory workers made so many mistakes, they have now been properly instructed on how to check parts and ensure that they are put together correctly. I also believe they are now using a new type of gasket to ensure the isolation of the vapor path (which is indeed just supposed to be steel to steel, but the QC issues left some gaps, that along with the tape issue were causing the fumes and foul tastes).

Trust me, it will be worth the wait when you get a working one.

@GoLd the Solo has about an hour more battery life, though it is nowhere near as portable (I actually prefer the original silver to the powder black even, so sleek and sexy, real premium feeling in hand). Its also worth noting that the indica has pure conduction whereas the Solo mixes in a fair amount if convection as well, so clouds can be slightly bigger there and it won't cook as much while your not hitting it (though there is conduction so it will cook some throughout the session as well, unlike on demand pure convection vapes like the Firefly and Elevape SV). That being said indica is still extremely efficient as well, and its large oven and spacers allow it to use as little as Solo can, as much as Solo can, and then even double the Solo's maximum amount so it really makes a great pack and go vape. One fully packed bowl can last you 4 ten minute sessions or so, depending on temps used. And speaking of those temps, it has 376F like Solo 3, 394F like Solo 5, and 412F like Solo 7, however it also has two temps below Solo's minimum of 365F at level 2: 340F and 358F, which are absolutely delicious and offer some great heady highs. For me, those pro's eventually made it so I preferred my indica to my solo, and most of my other vapes too

Not saying in a bad way but once you get a vaporizer you want to try more.
The Indica has double solo stem?
So when is v2 ready?

October possibly for the Indica V2 with the black powder coating. It's what we're hearing.
