This is a solid, comprehensive, if not discouraging, review of the Indica.
I'm waiting for my replacement unit, but would other Indica users rate this unit behind the Pax and Ascent as well?
IDK ...his vapor production looked pretty good to me, and he only packed half a bowl with who knows what. But for the MFLB, the Indica was the smallest of the portable bunch, and IMO, looks sharp! A few hours charge time is really no biggy to me, and with user changeable batts possible in future, the Indica will trump others in the race in that regard. I would like to have it in a flat black or scratch/heat resistant crinkle coat, with interchangeable air path diameter &/or mouth pieces for different draw efforts - but in all, I feel the Indica, even in its current iteration, wins the race!

all glass vapor path with digital temp control up to 430! Indica is stainless steel with just 5 temps :)
Thanks! Just not so sure that with such a short vapor path in the Indica that there would really be any perceptible difference in the taste. But I do see your point, which should resonate more favorably with those who insist on a glass-on-glass vapor path.:)

I hold it much higher than the Ascent personally, much better flavor (ascents glass wasn't as good bc of its silicone over time, left taste very meh for me), more consistent/accurate battery life and temp settings, much greater efficiency and more even extraction (even when using a glass shard in the ascent), a little easier to pack and unload, better form factor overall (Ascent has too many separate/moving parts for me, feels less solid) and much less odor/vapor leakage. I sold my ascent as soon as the indica arrived and I saw just how awesome pure conduction can be...

This is one of those instances that taste is definitely personal preference:nod: I think my Ascent has way better flavor all the way through. I open, pack, close, vape. No picks, glass shards, or spacers needed. The oven door on the Indica is way cheap and flimsy, The Ascent is solid. Cleaning is as fast and easy as swapping out the glass, Indica has a somewhat pax like regimine (no where near as bad though). My ascent does not smell nor does my Indica smell when off so that's a wash. Both are great vapes and I totally respect SS's opinion here:tup: Just goes to show you, Different strokes, for different folks!:2c:

So I have had 2 fuming vapes. I'm waiting on my 3rd and haven't gotten any answers about what is causing the fuming and smell. Can we figure this out or @Indica Vaporizer do you have a comment? I think this is the first and most important part of vaporizing, safety. I am not trying to be difficult. Ralph Nadar would approve of my inquisition. Is this safe? I think it would be pretty awesome to prove your vape is safe in some kind of legitimate way, it might help the industry. I'd like to see what it looks like inside as well.

You seem to be defying the odds with the product. Perhaps this vape is not your ideal mate. My mainstay will always be solo but I enjoy this for a change. We are exposed to plastics , hold cellphones to are ears for hours ,cook with coated pans etc etc. if you keep finding fault with this vape I would just move on. It is fairer to yourself and the company. Peace

There was a slight QC issue at the factory recently, so unfortunately there have been a few defective units like you describe (I had a couple as well). I've spoken to Mike and he says they have honed in on the exact issue now (people in the factory not placing the parts together carefully and consistently enough) so I'm sure the reason you haven't received a resolution yet is bc they are sorting it all out as we speak, making sure each Indica off the line is up to snuff now. These types of issues are actually very common with tech startups, we're lucky this one was caught early in the product life cycle so we should all be able to get back to indicating soon (my original flawless model was broken by my own accident sadly...), im sure Mike will post an update here as soon as he is able, I wouldn't give up on this wonderful portable

I have to say after using the indica it is very nice and I do love the different temp settings. I like to start off at blue go to green than purple. I find in a group setting it is better to start off with Green. My only question is it possible to have a larger opening in the mouth piece? It just seems that it restricts the vapor too much.

I found an owner of a company that listens to feedback why would I give up? This is the portable vape i choose to support and it's because of that. I haven't gotten a response in 7 days from michael. I think i heard he is traveling and he even said he was shipping the product from overseas for me but he hasn't answered a couple questions so I figured I'd put it to the community. It's very strange how you all shrug off things like fuming. Who cares if other things we use are poisonous. This goes directly into our lungs. I consider these health units not toys.

Perhaps reconsider those odds Rizzo, I believe Michael stated a few units had this issue but they were determined to get those units replaced if they were unfortunately sent out. Not a matter of @Spinuch finding fault.
I'm right with Spinuch , two fuming units, but Michael has been very responsive and positive. Michael noted my new unit would be coming from overseas as well, but I haven't received it yet nor heard from him in a few days, but I'm not concerned. I think I read he was out of town as well, so I'm content to wait a bit longer, but more importantly, he's clearly shown his dedication to the customer service here on FC. That always earns grace.
Anxious to report on this unit.

Hey guys, can you explain what you experience with fuming units. My Indica just came in and as someone who is new to Vapes I'd love to know what look out for. I have a lot of faith in my unit being all good but it's good info to know. Thanks!

You cab read through the thread, but after running a couple burn offs first thing to check is the smell/taste. A failsafe check is with a flashlight in the dark while the unit is running to look for fumes. You can check the top opening as well as the oven. Most units should be perfectly fine, but these are two solid places to start in regards to this particular issue

Great. Appreciate it! Again, all the confidence in the world that my unit is fine. By the way, first impression is great. Really solid in hand and well built. Smaller than a lot of people made it sound too

Make sure you do the fuming test before you try a load in it. I always draw through a new vape before I do anything else, to look for off tastes. Then I'll do at least one heat cycle and maybe more, looking for fumes under a strong light as @Shit Snacks describes. Then I hit it dry again to see if the taste has changed. I do all of this before ever loading it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I had four different Indicas during beta testing. The first one had a distinct oily taste out of the box, but that was because the box hadn't been given enough time for the stain to dry. The other three were completely neutral. I never saw fumes from any of them.

HAAA I just cleaned mine and I'm torn with taste comparisons now between this and the Ascent!! Back to more testing:science:
The buzz noise in my Indica has seemed to gotten more noticeable. Still working great. Is this unit supposed to be totally silent?

This is a known issue. From the last page:

Any one else with a humming Indica? This is a new recurring anomaly, kind of cool. It's a bit annoying but not harmful. So far, I've heard of two, now three reports. It's caused when the chamber sits against the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). When a production worker has placed the PCB incorrectly at a specific angle assembling the Indica, the heat generated from the chamber causes the PCB to generate a harmonic hum. The chamber is fully insulated so it's not direct heat.

Never saw it coming. I have one friend who has been using his for 3 months with no issue but the silly humming noise.

:peace:

Hey guys. I've had issues with my indica, but it is completely broken. i had my indica for 3 days and now it won't heat up. i emailed the company and i even pm'd someone from indica here, and i have yet to hear anything. i feel like i'm getting scammed out of $200. it is even more depressing considering how it seems everyone talks about their great customer service, and how they sent new ones "right away." i'm trying to contact them and figure out whats wrong, but i'm getting no replies and no help.
