Discontinued Impcognito

I think they're pure copper but they may also be gold plated like the Imp electrodes

Can you not just redrill/rebore and tap the new hole?
is that copper thing in the Vape path?

On those lists you see of what not to make a bong out of you always see copper on the list . But that is because even relatively lower temperature, copper can form copper oxide which is toxic. That being said for all this stuff vaping is NOT combusting, temps are much lower, than for combusting.

Brass is a fine option as they even make musical instrument mouthpieces from Brass. Similar alloy composition to the same Brass used in plumbing fixtures.

Copper has been used and is still used in plumbing for a long while, it's not really toxic under normal use conditions. Don't you have copper cookware? Many chefs use that a lot.

The two major Copper oxides are also of little concern. I would only be concerned if Verdigris somehow developed and began to flake off or something, or if you licked the thing, or if it was submerged. But again it's not even that toxic in minute amounts:

But you really need to consider the use case: is it heated? how hot? is it part of the heating element or just the air path? is it in contact with liquids and/or acids?

For sure ideally you would prefer to have your copper covered with a plating, and AFAIK all Impcognitos produced are gold-plated on their exposed copper parts. Tin or Nickel plating would do too.

On the other hand there are more serious concerns with many Brass alloys as they contain some Lead content to ease machining. Some particular alloys don't though.

Note that discussing materials safety inside device threads is sadly against our forum rules, so let's leave it at that or move elsewhere or the mods will soon have to intervene.

Is this Copper this thing is made out of? You do mention later using brass. From Everything I have read Copper is no Bueno . Brass is fine .

I dunno, I think it might actually be all brass now. However, if it's copper and O make a brass piece, I imagine that would make it unbalanced. since the top piece that lots on for the other side of the deck would be a different metal with different conductivity.

I was going to use 3D Hubs(manufacturing platform) since I had a plastic piece made for something else a while back and it was cheap. I looked at the price of the demo example and was put off immediately(it was $350 for a small simple piece, if I remember right). I suppose freelancers having 3D printers is a lot more common than metal milling and lathe machines. Plus the materials and skills required make it more expensive too.

I got a Dreamwood Glow RCV 18 V3 in the end. The Xmax V3 Pro can be for taking outside.

That's kind of how I fucked up the threads. First I tried a screw removal bit, then I tried to bore it out with a HSS drill bit. Could do either, no purchase on the removal too and the drill bit snapped eventually. Then I had to saw off the 510 connector pole, to remove the wooden ring/base. The trouble is, the piece is so small and the metal isn't the strongest, so it bends and warps if you put it in a vice too tight and if you apply too much downward pressure.

If I ever attempt to save the impcog again, I'd have to saw off the rest of the 510 threads right up to the base/ring. Attempt to recreate the 510 thread pole and weld it to the base ring. That drill bit is still stuck in the screw hole of the post though, which I just cant be bother wasting any more drill bits and time on for now.
