I was recently sent an Imp to try from a retailer over here in the UK. My contact there asked my to try and figure it out.
I've never owned a mod box before. Only had a few pulls on an ecig but its not really for me. I dabble in electronics, have a few basic electrical qualifications (domestic install) and have made arduino projects. I like to tinker.

I really love this thing, it's opened up my eyes to something completely new. I've just dismissed these mod boxes due to safety concerns and the risk of combustion but I've seriously overlooked all of this.

I bought the cheapest mod that I could find that takes the tubo firmware - Wismec rx mini, the battery life is quite poor but its ok for a test. I like using the double click as a sort of session mode, occasionally I'll just hold the button for a hit. I never really use the temp step mode. This is really cool how you have a selection of uses though. I know there's other firmware and things mentioned too. I'm sure I'll be playing around with this.

There's some lovely flavour here, great extraction - I've had to mess around with the mod and calibrate a few times. I think the position of the intake holes makes a difference too....I'm trying to get through the thread.

This definitely gets me very messed up, face melt room spinny messed up when I first tried it. Well done Dave! This is an amazing piece of work. I love that it's handcrafted. I'm very grateful for this chance to try the Imp. Very impressed. For me it's a game changer. I guess the technology has come a long way. I guess I have some reading and catching up to do.

I’ll do lock the ohms later. I did lower the ohms based on actual measurements and lowered the Watts. Now it’s super sweet and almost ideally dialed in. Temp ramp up is slower which I like. I’m running temps from 368 to 408. They range from great flavor with wispy vapor to strong vapor and some heat but no bitter taste. I have the ABV coming out just how I like.

I’m having fun learning the Paranormal and Imp. I’m super impressed with the Imp and I really love the o-ring design. Super tight seal around the stem. I think that is a great addition.

What a strong heater for the size. It’s also beautiful.

great to hear. around 0.22 ohms?

Hi

I checked the measurements. At 64 degrees it’s measuring 0.207 ohms. I’ve locked that in. So this one is coming in under 0.22.

I think that’s why it had such a fast heat ramp up. Initially adjusting the temperature on the Paranormal did very little to the heat but now it’s more sensitive.

I see in the Escribe software that a new firmware is available: 1.1 SP38 INT. Has anyone applied that to a device? Any feedback before I take the leap?

I updated my DNA mods to the current service pack with no problems. I am having a senior moment (as well as finishing my second cup of medicated coffee) do we have IMP settings for the DNA mods and do we also have settings for Tubo firmware?

Anyone care to share their settings for the imp?

Thanks

I’m amazed at how efficient the Imp is. I haven’t measured the amount of material going into the stem but it’s about 0.1 gram. The ABV is very uniform and one bowl is just right for me. Two or three bowls a day after work is perfect.

@sickmanfraud :do you want me to pull my settings and post them? I can do that after work?

I notice that @mistvaporizer's blog says to set max wattage at 50 for TC, but @GoldenBud says here that the Imp isn't designed for wattages greater than 32. Is 50W actually okay for brief periods?

Depending on which mod you have, but with TCR mode you lower the chances to combust significantly, so it can go to 50W as temperature is the dominant. It is however critical in Power mod. With power mod I'd never go above 32W in most cases.

Thanks @GoldenBud! I was more worried about damaging the Imp than combusting, but I take it from your reply that that's a non-issue even at 50W.

Thanks again.

So the new cooling stems arrived. I like them. The glass beads are a nice touch.

I hadn’t used the Imp the last mo for two days because the stem broke. I was excited to be going back and the system is so nice!!!!! I like the size of the stem and with the mod setup right the Imp is unbelievable. Top of the list. I used the MVT2 for the days between. The Imp is faster and more direct. Great job.

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
Have a ImP on my way, really excited to try soon this beauty

While waiting my ant instinct is pushing me to stack some clapton coils, because you never know :) but I can’t find which size they are. I read someone tried already to change them but the one he bought were too small

For me the imp superseeds the stempod.

Its just better. Stems fit better, vapes concentrates better, better overall performance, smaller.

Imp and the p80 is really small and pocket sized. Never harsh with the glass beads in the stem. A precesion vaping tool, that allows a little or a lot.

This is a truely a great vape.

By the way - how to get replacement coils?

Hi all,
I recently purchased an imp and I can not get consistent results. I am currently using wattage mode at around 33W. For reference, I have experience with the splinter. Any tips would be appreciated. TIA.

I bought some 26g/30g, 2.5mm, 6-wrap claptons here and they look the same (@mistvaporizer, are these the specs?), though the chart on that page rates them at higher ohms (.485) than my originals test at (.213-ish).

Does anyone know what kind of microscopically tiny screwdriver you need to deal with these? Has my eyesight become so bad I can't even see slots on the top of screws anymore?

And @oddjobold I totally agree with your praise. The standout features for me are the incredibly effective stem with beads, zero hotspotting (occasionally a warm spot but that's it), consistent results, and how easy it is to scoop up some flower, pack or not, twist it in there and go.

Those are the right coils, please be careful manipulating the deck. I use a .05" hex key/allen wrench, that is smaller than 1/16".
