Ok. I have been here about 2 months now, and from what I can see, there is more cumulative vaping experience here than anywhere else I can think of.
As such, I come to you with this question:
I am looking to design a new vaporizer. Something not only with my own design elements, but that is crowd-sourced from this forum. I am looking to make the vape a very small profit item, with as low an MSRP as possible - however I want it to be as no holds barred, truly high end of a device as seems appropriate to those most experience vapists - you guys!
I have plenty gainful enough employment elsewhere and truly don't need a big money spinner for myself.
So, what is it you want in a vape when it comes to:
Heating type (convection/conduction/hybrid)?
Heating Control type? (Presets/Fully adjustable)
Materials?
Whip options, GonG types, accessories?
I want to say right now that I plan to make this device the first to be able to accept different sources of energy - more on this very soon, I need to do some field work to investigate how best to incorporate the 3 or 4 different heat sources that will be able to be used. All will be optional and will able to be bundled together for discounts with purchase of the vaporizer.
This is unashamedly being made to be the one vape to rule the all. A jack of all trades, and if we get the design and I get the execution right, a master of all too! This is not going to be expensive, I'm talking $200-$300 type of price range.
I am currently planning for the form factor to be modular, but also to be able to be put together into a single self-contained unit.
Oils and Flowers will obviously be accommodated. Portability and desktop use, thermometer with real-time heat readings, all glass vapor path.
I know this sounds ambitious, but here's the kicker - I am looking to think of a way to honour those who contribute to the design of the final piece - and want you guys to decide what that is together what this reward will be.
Finally, I will be fastidiously going over MSDS's to ensure that all materials used are 100% safe for the application at hand. There will be no melting plastic. There will be no taste-imparting synthetic materials. The unit will be built to be sturdy enough to take the occasional drop that a vaked user might reasonably expect to occur during use/cleaning. The unit will be built with safety in mind, especially with regard to heat of parts that are handled ordinarily during use.
Mods: This is not a current project, I have work which will prevent me from working any kind of final design/prototypes until at least the middle of this year. This is also not going to be a particularly commercial venture, I want this to have a more open, community driven approach to vaporizer manufacturing. Nonetheless, I will seek permission from VTAC as per the guidelines before beta prototypes are designed and before I look for testers. I hope this is all cool!
Now, tell me what you all want in a vaporizer!
