started vaping in 2008 got a volcano right out of the gate. I always detested smoking and hated that aspect of getting high - although I was a great great joint roller. The second I heard about vaping I was sold. I got an iolite and then a pax for travel - never combusted ever again.

My girlfriend still likes to actually smoke a bowl every now & then. I actually find the taste & smell kind of offensive now... I'll hit it occasionally not to be rude, but I just can't understand why, given all the vaproization gadgetry laying about, she still likes to combust. Go figure, ha.

If someone is really into the behaviors associated with say, smoking a bowl or a jay, the gadgetry and behaviors surrounding vaping can seem pretty weird. I see by your 'gear' that you do concentrates and such, which don't deliver as much flavor as flower vapes, and, not to be critical, but my understanding of the the Davinci is that it doesn't deliver flavor like some of the newer portables (Mighty, FF).
Maybe gf needs to experience a good flavored vapor for a time, without combusting?
I do agree that after vaping, combustion tastes worse than awful!

She actually loves the Ascent, & readily admits that it tastes much better than a smoked bowl. She was exclusively vaping for a considerable period of time, but just recently started combusting again regularly. Who knows, ha.

I've thought about getting another flower vape, but it isn't really in the budget at the moment, but certainly something to consider. I love the Ascent & usually get really great flavor from it, especially if some kief or wax is sandwiched in between the flower. Tasty :) I'm familiar with the mighty & crafty, not sure what the FF is though.

This month I will not have smoked anything for 2 years. People look at me sideways when I turn down a joint. They generally like the vape, but some more than others. One guy I totally tripped out, I gave him the first pull right and he got little vapor. By the time it was passed around to him he said he was too lit for another and asked how the hell that works. :)

I have always liked vapes better but had been too cheap to drop the cash on one. It was worth every single penny for sure. So much nicer. Easy to clean. Tasty. No smoke smell. Use less flowers. No tar. Win all the way around for sure.

Herb gardener...
I fucked combustion in September, still going strong and I'm very proud of myself...
I'm still yet to experience a summer of vaping...
I'm an outdoors person, the oven doesn't get used in summer, I bbq everything and live in the garden, sometimes even sleep in a tipi...

Anyway my point is, I used to love relaxing outside with a spliff(with tobacco), and it was very much the action of spending ten mins smoking that I enjoyed, not just the after affects....

This has had me worried because as much as I love my eq, it's more of a 'get really high really quick' machine...

But I bought a solo a week ago, and we had some sun the other day, I can confirm iv put my fears to rest, the solo outside is amazing...
I sat for a session and a half (15 mins) sipping away in the sun, it was very enjoyable...

Bring on my first summer of being combustion free...and In September I can celebrate a year of being smoke free, a big achievement for me...

So thanks to fc and all the kind people on here for changing my life and possibly even saving my life...

I smoked joints and through a bong for about 35 years. I read about vaping 10 years ago, ordered a Vapir and have never looked back. Think I've tried joints maybe twice since then, and now when someone lights up I have to go to another room; the smell really bothers me. Still have friends who really prefer combustion but even they are slowly coming around because of the health benefits. I guess I'm going to have to invest in something really spectacular to finally convince them. As it is I have to blow very dense clouds in my bags or they complain. Maybe I should just sell a guitar and get an EVO. Or maybe I should just get smarter friends...

Honestly before going EVO I'd pick up an e-nano and have your friends try that. Using the stem means vapor will still be fairly hot when it hits their throat (not combustion hot), so they'll be able to physically feel it more, and e-nano still gives pretty dense vapor. I think it's a better corollary to smoking than bags or an EVO.

Thanks for the kind reply, AngryJon. I have a GH coming so I'm probably going to hold off on buying anything else for awhile. And let's be honest here, the EVO wouldn't be for my friends; it would be for me. I am hoping the 'hopper will convert a few more folks. Problem is my friends are both stubborn and cheap. ;)

I was a long time smoker before I fucked combustion last August. I purchased a decent portable on a whim, and then after some research on here, I purchased the e-nano. I can confirm that it is a good corollary to smoking. I have a bubbler but I actually prefer to use the nano's stem, because it gives me that hit in the back of the throat like smoking. This is only if you use higher temps, when I want it to be smooth I use lower temps and I can't feel it at all on my throat, but the effects are definitely there!

I also have a grasshopper on preorder and from what I hear the performance and flavor are pretty similar to the nano. So I think that will help @BadDog No convert a few more people for sure. But it's definitely worth looking into an e-nano instead of an evo. They are much cheaper, more attractive, and extremely efficient. And they also pair very well with glass of all varieties.

I gotta admit, I smoked a joint yesterday instead of vaping and the high was so much more satisfying. I think a lot of chemicals that add to the high get lost when vaping, and the worst is dabbing. Combusting cannabis still gives you the full plant with all its ingredients we currently are unaware of how they interact. Maybe the closest is vaping on a higher temp. But I swear my high is always more satisfying when rolling a joint, even if I've been trying to say it ain't so through all these years with various vaporizers at my disposal.

What's the real reason smoking a joint gives a different high compared to vaping? I'm sure it's those extra ingredients we combust, and I also think the chemical reaction from combustion might be different from vaping, hence the more intense high. It probably gets activated all at once from the flame instead of slowly cooking and building up in a vape. A joint is definitely like taking a shot whilst vaping is like sipping on a beer. Vaping has always made me more tired, the joints keep me awake.

Sounds like you have been vaping long enough to maybe have learned some of the differences; in case not, here is an excerpt from an article by @pakalolo

"The asphyxiants in smoke—carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide—reduce oxygen in your system. This can lead to symptoms of mild hypoxia, such as dizziness, sluggishness, and even euphoria. In addition, organic matter burns so violently and at such high temperatures that there is more particulate matter (tar) in the airstream. This can trigger an immune system response that you can feel. When you switch to the gentler and lower temperatures of vaporization, you avoid these effects, but now the experience has changed in a way that perhaps you didn't expect. Their absence is probably why those who vaporize often describe the effects as "cleaner". Some people miss them.

There is nothing that vaporization can offer to replace these effects. This is a good thing because they are symptoms of something that is bad for you, so you are better off without them. If you feel strongly that you want them, vaporization probably won't work for you."

When I was much younger, I experimented with a variety of ways to get "high", some pretty wacky in retrospect. I think altered states have their 'place' in the human experience and oh-so-many ways of achieving said states, but it's also undeniable that inducing same can sometimes be harmful.

This is incorrect. In fact it's exactly opposite of the facts: combustion destroys some of the compounds that are available through vapourizing. As @vapviking pointed out, the things that you are missing from combustion are actually toxins.

I really missed the oxygen deprivation effects of smoking when I first stopped. Not so much now, but I vape at relatively high temps anyway

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
It took 3 attempts over a two year period with nicotine inhalers and unsuitable vaporizers to trade my habits and rituals.

I have completely fucked combustion for 3 years now and I know I'll never go back.

Thanks FC!

Nice one. I fucked it for three months now, still a lot of ground to cover before hitting your 3 years. I hope you get to six when I am at three ;)

Herb gardener...
Iv only quit tobacco and combustion since September, since joining fc actually...
But I can't see why anyone would go back after reaching this point.

Surely I have successfully fucked combustion now and that's the end of that...
Or is it still early days for me???
Do people start smoking again after making it this far???

Maybe if I fell on hard times and had to sell all my vapes...I dunno, doubt it...

I've been "clean" for over 5 months now but a lot of that has to do with moving away so I don't have friends to smoke with anymore, I just vape at home or the girlfriends.

If I was still living by my friends, I would definitely still be smoking j's with them and the occasional bong but primarily be vaping. So I guess it's both good and bad for me.
