@sundaddy That's quite a list! So does your "libtard" have to check off all those boxes? Is it a 50/50 deal? Like where do you draw the line?

Still curious about the snowflake generation, too.

Would you be able to put this into your own words for me? Multiple pages of straight up talking points really don't do much for discourse.

Snowflakes are at the bottom, I guess you didn't read far enough. I am liberal, but I'm not a libtard.

Sorry, I meant this one:
I'm also a little struck by your "snowflake generation". Last I checked, children are raised by adults. If the adults decided "everyone gets a trophy" (not sure when this happened. I'm 42) is that really the fault of the kids? Also, is there a date range for the Snowflake Generation?

What's the date range? Is it all those kids? Why is it their fault?

What's the deal with all the code words anyway?

I would say your average libtard falls in the 25-60 year old range, your snowflake's gonna be more in the 16-25 year old range, mostly college students. Once it's ascertained that a certain group exists, they are often assigned a name so that it's easier to reference them in conversation.

Whatever. What's done is done.

My real concern is the next Attorney General and what will happen to our marijuana laws.

I'm more fearful of the tag-along scumbags like Chris Christie than Trump himself.

Americans are Biased: Against Washington

"Donald Trump’s victory had nothing to do with gender, or race or anything else that could be rolled up into identity politics. 2016 ended up being a referendum on Washington, D.C., period. From the primary campaign, where Trump outlasted 16 other opponents far more tied to Washington than him, and where Hillary Clinton faced a much greater challenge than expected from an outsider Bernie Sanders run. And in the general election, we saw the disdain people have for Washington grow larger than anyone thought possible.

This was not an uneducated, white man voting pattern either. If so, how does that account for the fact that a higher percentage of Latinos voted for Trump than Romney in 2012. A higher percentage of African Americans. A higher percentage of young people. A higher percentage of educated women, and almost as high a percentage of women in general. (On the flipside, will Democrats have a hard look internally after this election, considering Hillary Clinton had a lower percentage of each of these groups than President Obama did in 2012?)"

Fuck it... Here is one possability.

"On the app, Brigade CEO Matt Mahan explains, people share their pledge and invite their friends.

"It's a little bit of a change from what most people are used to. People don't go around in the offline world broadcasting [whom] they're voting for," he says. "They may share it with friends or family. But I think many people feel that it's a fairly private decision."

The app seemed to work. It has nearly 200,000 verified users — not just signups or Twitter bots or trolls, but citizens the startup has crosschecked with voter registration records to confirm identity.

When Mahan looked at the pledges, he didn't see data among Republican voters to back up the trending hashtag #NeverTrump. Among registered voters on Brigade, 94.5 percent of Republicans pledged to vote for Trump and only 2.2 percent pledged to vote for Hillary Clinton.

That's roughly what you'd expect.

Here's where it gets fascinating: On the Democratic side, Mahan explains, "we saw something entirely different." Only 55 percent of registered Democrats pledged to vote for the Democratic nominee.

ALL TECH CONSIDERED
Pundits Vs. Machine: Who Did Better At Predicting Campaign Controversies?

It's not the Bernie Sanders effect. This result is in the general election, after the primaries. It looks more like the Trump effect. Of Brigade's verified voters, 40 percent of registered Democrats pledged to vote for Trump.

Brigade saw this pattern back in September. But the company didn't trust it because its user base skews conservative. Even though Brigade was started by liberals in San Francisco, it went viral in Republican circles."

--the further promulgation of the homosexual/pedophile agenda

homosexual/pedophile? Really???? WTF??????

@lwien thanks for pointing this out. I missed it.

Wow. That is some list. Are you @sundaddy really, truly, equating or linking homosexuality with pedophilia? Wow. Just fucking wow.

According to the to the Urban Dictionary link that @unsorted posted I am a libtard. Huh. I never knew.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Libtard

The most idealistic libtard envisions a time when science/technology and Socialism will eliminate all poverty, hunger, war, disease, injustice, unemployment and prejudice. (It is a nice pipe dream but human nature will forever stand in the way of that goal).

Sundaddy, I may be a homosexual, but I assure you, I am not a pedophile and I deserve the same rights as anyone else. The "equal protection" clause of the Constitution guarantees that. How anyone can link homosexuality and pedophilia is just offensive and ignorant.

The bully actually lost. Hillary and CO bullied Bernie out. And my vote was against the bullies on the left. The idea the right bullies the left and not opposite, IMO is a liberal farce. If I don't think like you, you'll put me down and namecall. Some chick commented yesterday on my FB about how I don't get anything (because I don't have a uterus lol) and she has no respect for me for my Trump vote. And I saw her share stuff saying, "I don't respect people voting for 3rd party either, they are just as bad as the Trump voters" So............your singular opinion is the end all be all opinion? Sounds like a bigot. Wish I could say this was rare but that's the route I've seen many take....

The fear mongering, c'mon, guy hasn't even been in a day. Same with the violent protesters and people causing just a general disturbance.

America needs to come together. So, rather than call us deplorables and then act like idiots when things don't go your way, unite! They are literally protesting against free democratic elections.....lol........a right many in the world don't have period.

I don't think people understand how popular vote works either...1) he may still win the popular vote. 2) Hillary does not have a majority of the popular vote 3) The electoral college (and this is easy for me to say) protects 95% of the USA from being ruled by the megacenters of Chicago, NY, and LA.
g4j3n5zcgswx.jpg

but better yet, go to CNN right now and they will tell you DT is predicted to win the Popular Vote as well.

Vaked I answered you in the quote.

Thanks for that picture of Kellyanne Conway. She's the first woman to run a successful campaign! #Strides (why isn't' this celebrated by the progressives)

It does say a lot, thank you! As I said, "I've said before I hope the liberals continued to drive a wedge" because then people will simply shut up, get out and vote. There was an article linked in my Brexit post, that says, everytime you call us Xenophobes, racist, stupid, etc, that we "don't get it" you are exactly the reason I'll vote Trump. You are a reason your candidate lost. And, the country agreed. I'm not for division, but hey, if your group wants to actively divide and in turn that gets the other group to get more excited and churn out to the polls, I hoped they would continue with those failing tactics of division and insults.

Wow this actually made me rethink a lot of how everything going on looks to people. I can see how people were persuaded to trump and wow now that I'm paying attention, just the all around liberal bashing is awful. My uncle literally just said Trump is the devil, and that sounds very reminiscent to things Ive heard said about a past president...

I still don't agree with his positions at all, which I haven't really heard and I also think he doesn't even really know. but at the same time what's happened has happened. if we expect republicans to be respectful of our choices, we need to equally so respect theirs. We as liberals expect civilness from everyone else but ourselves

Sidenote: I just introduced my 60 year old aunt and uncle to a hash vape pen that I bought in Seattle and brought to Dallas with me in carryon. they had tried combustion and hated it and I told them did I have a surprise for them. I just vaped with them for the first time and they say it's helped with their array of problems including depression, anxiety, stress and insomnia. And as a married couple for 40 years with many long term relationship problems, I'm hearing them talk and communicate and laugh together like I never have before. sorry for the unrelated ramble but I thought it was just an awesome story unraveling before my eyes

Not only is it offensive to equate the two but he also states that they have some kind of agenda.

@sundaddy, i'm curious, what kind of agenda are you talking about?

Remember how folks acted when Obama was voted in as president? The bigots were out of the closet saying horrible things. Now the shoe is on the other foot. People are outraged that a bigot and a xenophobic person has become the next president. We can only go by how this man conducted himself over the last 18 months and the previous 30 years before that.

Today our president elect said (in a tweet of course) that the people out protesting are paid protesters. Really? He said it's because of the media. It's because a percentage of the country voted for a flawed candidate that acts like a spoiled child 50% of the time. We never know which Trump we are going to get. Is it the grownup or the second grader? He's talked about deporting thousands and thousands of hispanics. How do you do that? Round up all the brown people and check IDs? Do they go to elementary and high schools, colleges - round them up that way? This is nuts and Trump is an idiot.

I really worry for all the gains the gay community has made recently, things could go backward with more conservative lawmakers in office. You need to have progressives around. The right wing conservative christians think being gay is a sin. Some think it should be against the law, unbelievable.

I'm glad they are out protesting again tonight. Keep on speaking up. The only thing we have is our voice.

I think it was wonderful how Obama welcomed Trump today. He really is the bigger man. That's what a president does. I wouldn't expect anything less from Obama. That doesn't mean I have to be so gracious.

Trump has a big mouth but he sure looked a little like, "oh shit what have I gotten myself into" attitude today while at the White House.:dog::cheers:

Remember to keep things civil or this thread will get shut down like the other one. Really too bad it couldnt have continued a couple more days. Some folks got too heated it looked like unfortunately. Let's be grown ups.

Edit
I know I am nervous about a Trump presidency. It's nice to talk about some of our post election feelings as well.

It's time for Trump to heal the divide and listen. He needs to stop the bigoted talk and stop the blame game all the time, it's so childish of a president elect.

A subject like jobs is something that we all want. Having a good healthcare system that is affordable to replace the current one. People wanted change but the change person has such jagged edges. I realize HRC wasn't our best choice as a democrat - I didn't get the candidate I had voted for in the caucus.

Let's keep things tame guys. The politics thread just got shut down. We don't want to stifle all discourse. I feel like we need a post election activism thread. We can inform each other on the going ons of our nation and things we think we should talk to our representatives and local leaders about.

Just a suggestion. Good ideas don't necessarily divide among party lines.

Trump won because people were so disillusioned with the status quo they voted for the only non mainstream option since Sanders was stomped out. I am man enough to admit there have been times in life I have been angry enough to be prepared to sacrifice any amount of personal pain to get my pound of flesh. Never in a political sense but I think there were an awful lot of rage votes & general fuck you votes.

What I am finding incredibly disturbing is the amount of enboldened people (on both sides of the fence) using the election result as a pretext to their hate crimes. In my recent FB feed I have seen a man savagely beaten for "voting Trump" & countless (seriously too fucking many to count) examples of assaults & ugly vandalism. As an outsider I really see things getting considerably worse before they will get better. It is a few months til Fanta pants takes over so anything can happen, shit is not going to just go away & there is a lot of rage just simmering away.

You know I've been saying for a while that Trump isn't the problem, it's the people. this is a representative democracy and in the last 30 years we have ping ponged back and forth between Democrat and Republican with the animosity between the two growing. it only leads to hatred, violence and bigotry on both sides of the fence. the Democrats want to take moral high ground well they can't have it. people are people.

No matter what the outcome was, half of the country was bound to hate the other half. This is our underlying problem.

The hatred skyrocket with some of the republicans when a black man was voted as president 8 years ago. Trump has been fueling hate filled speeches and rallies. It only spured on more hate and division. Now he's been voted into office as president. Can you blame people for being afraid and angry? It's any wonder people are protesting in the streets.

If Hillary would have been voted in, the other side would be protesting in the streets to "lock her up". Or she needs to be executed. Trump owes American an apology for assaulting our hearing for the past 18 months with all the hatred.

Many people are depressed right now thinking of at least 4 years of a hate filled, self absorbed selfish ass for a president. This process is going to take some time to get used to for some of us. We may never get used to it. It just may not feel so horrific in 6 months.

I feel the FBI Weiner computergate info from Comey was the wall that stopped Hillary's momentum in the race. It appeared to look like something had really been found regarding Hillarys emails. Who knows if it was purposely done or not? We may find out someday in history.

Anti-Trump Riots in Oregon

C'mon, you're not seriously glad that people are rioting because your team didn't win the election Super Bowl?

Maybe if you're worried about four years of division and hatred, you shouldn't kick things off by encouraging criminal acts against people who disagree with you.

I also had a giggle at this.

Nationwide, recreational cannabis has greater popular support than either candidate did, in polls or in the election itself.

And if I'm honest, I'd be perfectly content to let an especially nice indica plant take the oval office for a while. Can't see how it would be worse, though I doubt it would meet the minimum age of 35.

Someone will just have to reveg the same root ball for years until we get a proper candidate. I've heard it can be done but I don't know for how long that can go on. 35 years, ho!

CK NEVER said that. She said that she wanted to see the protests continue. She never said that she was glad that people are rioting. Protests and riots are not synonymous.

I still find it amazing how many people read and hear just what they want to read and hear rather than what is actually written or spoken.
