Thanks
@HD Springer
Hats off to
@RastaVapa for giving me the opportunity to turn him some bodies. I put the idea of me 'having a go' to him, showed him some of the ideas I wanted to try and translate and he was up for it. Can't thank him enough.
Fate and the love of timber has led me here. It may work out, it may not but if I don't try I will never know and I've got nothing to lose.
It's all a massive learning curve Mr Springer and it's all small steps. Doesn't always go well as was the case today. Crab apple covered in small burrs, canker, that died last year so I took it down.
LHS one looked all good but the lower portion has a crack in it and you can see it in the end grain. It's on the other side of the the nice inclusions. It would probably be okay but you just don't know.
RHS well I knew the burr was there and the dark markings made it even nicer. I only had to take it down a a bit more to get the last of the bark off and 'click, click, click' and not a nice VC kind of click.
The chuck jaws and the great big piece of bark around the burr meant it's destined for the burner. Maybe. Shame as it mellows really nicely once it's been turned.
Rastavapa I chucked a few bit's together before we spoke tonight and I came up with this. The SS drip tip does warm up a bit but wasn't that bad. Still a cool vapor experience. Many thanks again.
