alright, thanks. thats was I thought...

as nice as it would be, I will never buy a Hydrotube that costs more than the vaporizer itself...

Okay! I'm finally ready to join the HA family! Now what, should I get the PV gong adapter as well? What about the TonG? Pretty sure that the 2.2 comes with a basic mouthpiece, but can it be used in a 14 or 18mm water piece? Should I spend the extra $100 or so and get the Elite? My reasoning is that I should get the 2.2 first, and if I love it can always get the Elite down the road and sell the 2.2 or keep for backup.

It's sounding more like the HA is a giant Solo with great airflow, and the Solo is one of my favourites of all time. I also find conductive vapes are easier on my lungs than convection that frequently can irritate and cause coughing for me.

Also see that PV has the "shorty" version of the gong's, which is supposed to scream efficiency!

Buying direct from HA may be where it's at though, since they include the concentrate kit and tong, not to mention FULL MONEY BACK SATISFACTION GUARENTEE!?

What manufacturer other than HA offers this?? I know that Slide4less/authorized vaporizer distributor place offered it for MV's and S&B products but I think they have gone belly up - not to mention that they weren't the actual manufacturer.

Kudos to HA for standing behind their product. It's that confidence that is making me want to pull the trigger!

I believe regardless of what a few people have stated within the last 10-15 pages on this thread the HA is primarily a convection vaporizer which is why Herbalaire points out how important the design of the airflow with all them little holes in the bottom of herb chamber is(and how it will work with just a pea size piece of bud droped in a crucible, that won't work with a conduction vape).

@biohacker I'd still stay away from the PV gong for the HA, using it voids your warranty as they are known to cause some problems(they can get stuck and you end up pulling the HA chamber apart to get 'em out). Go with the tong if you wanna use water where you set the HA on top of a water tool, the provided mouthpiece makes a seal on both 14 & 18 mm joints but you have to hold it in place while you take a hit.

:peace:

Edit: As far as I know only Herbalaire and Triihouse(daisy, lily, peace) offer a money back satisfaction guarantee.

While I do understand that the HA is primarily a convection vaporizer, the fact that you can compress unground bud and extract so well right to the middle would have to also imply much conduction, no? Or is it due to the effective the air jets as you mention?

While you say that it is effective with a pea sized piece of bud, many reviews I am reading say that for effective satisfactory vapour, larger loads are required? This is listed as one of the cons, although I do know from this thread that people are using .2 etc.

Thanks for the heads up on the PV gong's! You just saved me a bunch of cash (was planning on getting two - shorty as well) as well as a potential headache down the road with my HA! I just saw a video and was sold, and assumed as long as I didn't "twist it out" and pulled straight instead like PV's instructions say, i'd be okay?

Thanks for the summary on the reg mouthpiece vs tong!

The heat is coming from below the chamber so I still think it's mainly convection with a little radiant heating going on but no true conduction, When you pull a fully vaped bud out of the crucible it sure seems something special is going on the way it's evenly baked through and through so maybe it's them jet holes doing the magic.(I just drop buds in and don't pack it)

i know a pea sized bud won't give the bigger visible vapor off .20 packed in the bottom of the bowl but the point i think is that you get full extraction and effect from the pea size bit as it bounces around the crucible while you may only receive minimal visible vapor on exhale.

I like this vape a lot, gave one away and missed it too much after a while so i had to pick up another, since the price is so good these days seemed worth it.

The vape has to be one of the best value for the dollar. Is it worth it to get the Elite, mainly due to the mouthpiece/built in crucible?

What about the concentrate kit? Worth getting?

I'm gonna have to try mine through water when I get home :)

I would say just get the normal one, too good of a value.

I was also very skeptical that it was convection since you load in a metal chamber but my bud looks like it's been convected when I knock it out. Even vape not dark as night either

I'm sure it is primary convection, but the ammount of vapor I see teaming out of the top of this thing tells me it's more than a little radiant heat. The bud in the chamber seems to constantly be at least hotter than vaping temp.

Does this not detract from the taste? I know my Mighty taste downgrades pretty quick after the first hit or two. Is the HA the same?

Just debating a couple more things, but now leaning toward the Elite due to a stellar value deal I found ($289cdn), but the only thing i'll be missing is the concentrate crucible.

it's just a regular crucible with triple offset screens? How does everyone else do concentrates in their HA?

Found this not too far back...I really need to read this thread!

I finally got some concentrates and tried out the new concentrate crucible...nice! It hits like you think it should...nice and easy for a good session. I probably got about 20 pulls out of a medium sized ball of wax. I let the unit heat up to 400F, put the ball in the crucible and loaded it into the unit. I watched for about ten seconds as it slowly started to heat up. Then it just quickly melted into the screens and started to produce vapor. I loaded the TonG and mouthpiece and started sipping for what was at least 20 minutes, maybe 30.

This morning I checked the crucible and it was almost spotless...just a little smell to remind me of what was there. But the screens looked just like before using them and I knew when the session was done when the vapor stopped flowing. I used another crucible a couple of weeks ago with some nasty, particulate-full reclaim and it worked too, but the nastiness was just left built up on the screen for me to clean. The pure stuff works flawlessly.

Like all other desktop vapes that don't go above 455, this is not dabbing. Rather, it is efficiently making clean use of your concentrates over a longer session. Me likey!

Bud sandwich with it in the middle. Easily doubles the number of bags I get from a crucible (1/3-1/2 way full)

Mouthpiece does get dirty. I do get little bits of weed that seem to get blasted up by the air pump, and those now have wax on them so it's Just a bit goopier. Didn't notice it other than removing the bags and touching the lip of it, got some gunk.

I agree that the HA runs hot, but I do really think that the amount of conduction is pretty negligible. I have never noticed vapor billowing out of it when I turn off the pump....compared to my old Pax or even the Mighty, get decent streams out the mouthpiece when not hitting. Could just not be seeing it too.

Taste doesn't really downgrade much on the bags, don't really use anything else. Pretty negligible when using the whip too but it's been a while.

I use a mighty screen to pack my crucible and to try and stop particulate from getting pumped through. Kind of works, some still gets through. Fits perfect though :)just wanted to add since you have a Mighty

Hey thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it as i'm about to embark on my HA journey. You're right though, the Mighty mouthpiece does leak vapour, but I only notice these things in my vapes (including Arizer Extreme) after my pull, it's almost like the "momentum" of the pull continues to bring slighty whips of vapour, that continue to slightly flow out. Doesn't bother me, but is the HA is as smelly as some say, it won't last long in my household. I'm allowed to vape and exhale into the kitchen vent, so i'm hoping that will be enough to prevent my kitchen and house from reeking like vaped bud.

I found HA's post about the PV gong not being advised....sounds like they tested it a bunch. But I keep seeing references to Solo gong's being used (non pvhes) successfully, but you just have to hold the HA unit on it? Is this correct?

if I purchase the Elite, does this mean that I have to go hang out in that ghost town thread? Or is it kinda like the crafty/might thing where both are using mostly the same tech?

SO pumped!

I use my HA Elite daily in the evening and even while using it I never notice any smell, not to speak from the next morning. It really doesnt smell at all, in my opinion

I bought the elite kind of wish I didnt, going to get a solo gong if they actually do work well for a small bowl, don't use bags really anymore so timer and pump upgrades don't bother me plus I hate the lights on the bottom and I really only use 400 so digital temp is useless too me as well.

lazylathe

Almost there...
@biohacker

When i had my HA and my Vapo 2.0, i was always more concerned with leaving bud in my Vapo.
There is SO much radiant heat in the Vapo 2.0 that it cooks and burns the bud quite quickly if you forget a stem in there while it is on. Stench is quite incredible!!
Leaving a bowl in the HA will result in some smell but not even close to the Vapo 2.0!

The HA will most likely replace the EQ for you!

This ended up working really well in the cut down concentrate crucible, though stuff does stick out the top of it more than I would like. I dropped it in after it got hot and inhaled really easy for a bit so it all melted in. As far as I can tell none of the wax made it to the screens and I'd actually feel comfortable doing this in the regular crucible. It would be safer since one time I dropped it in a piece of wax popped up and stuck the wall and melted down making the crucible stick in there. Had to run it upside down until it fell out. I might order some non-cut down concentrate crucibles just for that reason.

Taste is still pretty great because of the lower effective vaping temperature imo. You still get tasty hits near the middle/end of the session, unlike other vapes. It may not taste as "untouched" as an on-demand convection vape can feel on the second hit sometimes, but definitely I think taste is one of the strong points of this vape.

Re:convection/conduction/radiation, IMO it's a combination of all three. Most of the vaping power comes from convection but the conduction and radiation (and diffused airflow) give it the even and consistent vaping power. Insulation is definitely a big deal with this vape, once it's to temp it requires a lot less power than other vapes, since it's kind of like a big thermos encapsulating the bowl. (Best vape for use in Antarctica, no question :)) That way when air goes through it is always heated well, unlike other vapes where the heat can cool off quite a bit as it goes through the bowl.

My recommendations for @biohacker, go for the 2.2 from herbalAire direct. You'll get the TonG and I think the concentrate crucibles too. The concentrate crucibles can be used to load small amounts, ground up and packed tight, and convective too with the elevated concentrate cruc. I love using the 2.2 with TonG and just a simple glass MP, direct draw and dry, tastes great and effects are awesome.

Another fun accessory are the VB ceramic disc screens. They fit really well inside the HA and can be used to shorten up the chamber as well for small loads. I use them frequently as they change up the convection/conduction ratios in the unit depending on how you use it, I find them to give a very good vaping experience. 0.15g is probably my ideal "small load" serving in the HA. Small enough to conserve the stash but large enough to give visible vapor with the HA. A couple example setups are 1 disc on bottom, load, then 3-4 discs on top. Or nano basket screen on bottom (convection spacer), then 1 disc on top of that, load, then another disc on top.

Elite is cool if you are into precision dialing in of the temperature, but if not the 2.2 analog unit will provide the same performance. So I'd suggest the 2.2 as it's a much better value imo. There are some other small factors for the Elite, like speed control of pump built into HA, slightly larger chamber I think, and ability to remove crucible more easily with the TonG. But yeah the inner vape workings are the same, so 2.2 is a really good value in comparison.

Oh also as others said, I don't recommend the PV GonGs. I got 2 of them and they don't fit well (requiring force to get em in and out, unfortunately).

..hello everone..
...after a couple weeks putting the HA thru differant set ups w/ water and whatnot iv found w/ the tong..a HT works very, very well...there is that notion that the tong might come out,..I know..but it doesn't budge...I actually feel more comfortable dropping it on the tong than the evos 18mm glass joint..
....great vape..it's on point all the time,..I truly believe if they thickened the cord, and redesigned the body that this could easily be an upper tier vape..
...although I do admit Its underrated status is very attractive.

Super awesome setup. I've always wanted to try one of the Hydratubes on the HA, seems like the perfect combo. Just a bit pricey for me on the glass. I've considered trying a PNWT from dhgate as a cheaper option. Or one of those modular nectar collectors and add on a flared mouthpiece, for a sort of makeshift HT.

...I also have a chandelier perked dlx tube from a vapor blunt that's a much better fit..but w/ the swagger there's that void where the joint meets whatever your putting it on that's just nice and hollow...so if any mishap happens,..you can catch it...w/ the dlx tube the water sits in the bottom surrounding the joint..
...just creeps me out kinda...volts close to water...
....plus that you can't see shit...it's nice to mentally see the pull to prepare the lungs...w/ the ht's you gotta go by irritation..which sux..ir count..or whatever.
Inverted is the way to fly I think,..alot more control.
I also use a female 18 to 18 on the tong enabling the swapping of differant m.p.'s...
....vapor brothers has a nice 4-4.5" one...on the adapter on the tong it sits perfect for dry time.

So I'd suggest the 2.2 as it's a much better value imo

My options are:

1. Elite for $220usd - no concentrate kit (would need to purchase separate +$35)
2. Elite for $350usd - with concentrate kit and tong + 30 day $ back guarantee
2. 2.2 for $135usd - no concentrate kit/ no tong
3. 2.2 for $200usd - with concentrate kit and tong + 30 day $ back guarantee

Although I still haven't decided, i'm leaning toward the Elite from an online retailer having the best value, and the upgrade I think most important to me would be the newer style built-in crucible in mouthpiece. Seems like dumping out a hot crucible into hand or on table may be a messy pain.

Another fun accessory are the VB ceramic disc screens.

Where is a good place to purchase these?

Will I be happy with the 2.2 mouthpiece, or is a tong essential if i'm to use it for vapour bonging which is what I want to be doing exclusively? Reg mouthpiece works for 14/18 by just holding it? Seal is sufficient?
