Herb Grinders

After my chat with customer support, I believe the storage puck is the same as the black top, and deeper rounded bottom on the Vape Gr8tr, similar to a typical 3-piece bottom. The black top on solid body is deeper to allow for extra storage of screen or grater plate, and the bottom is not as deep and is more like a typical 4-piece kief catcher.

Thanks for clarifying that @Mulehead -- I wrote Customer Service over the weekend, and can confirm that they told me the exact same thing (you beat them to it). Just wanted to underscore, since it's hard to tell from the pictures on the Kannastor site that solid-body GR8TR + storage puck --> vape GR8tr (with some by-products):

"Hey,
I got in touch with our developer regarding your questions and he forwarded me the below information.
The GR8TR ST has a different base than the GR8TR Vape, the GR8TR Vape has the same base and Lid as the SK-PUCK, and therefor if the buyer were to purchase the SK-PUCK and GR8TR ST, he/she would indeed be able to interchange the parts to have a deeper base tray.
Please let me know if you have any more questions!"

But there's conflicting info out there, even from retailers. Here's what they wrote back from My420Store, which has both the GR8TR and the puck in stock:

"Hi,
I am hearing that the thread count may be different, so they might not be able to be fit together."

^^Exactly^^
I can confirm all threading is the same on all of the GR8TR line, and storage puck.
I think @snackmaster might be able to confirm that Kannastors regular 2.2" (?)
4-piece grinder is the same threading as well.

I am incredibly slow on figuring anything out that's spatial. I spent hours trying to figure out the lily that probably took others a minute. Anyway, I have my GR8TR together and have been using it. I like the texture of the ground herb. I also really like the storage at the top. I can use it for herb and then grind something completely different and leave it in the main chamber. It also turns easily which is important since I have wrist and thumb problems.

You probably mean "spacial"?

Thanks for your review though as this seems to be the grinder i want. Had a kanaster many years ago and left it in a hotel after a wedding

"Spatial intelligence is the ability to comprehend three-dimensional images and shapes. This is a primary function of the right side of the brain and is used when solving puzzles, figuring out maps and taking part in any type of construction or engineering project." Mine is definitely impaired.

Anyone try the "groove" by aerospaced?

I bought a regular "aerospaced" 4 piece from my head shop about five years ago. Got home took a real good look at it. Noticed a lot of metal burs and rough edged machining. Promptly threw that thing in the trash and bought a space case.

I think I have finally kicked my grinder habit. I'm good with space case and a SCS.

I noticed planet vape has SCS back in stock in all types besides the new large 3 piece. Very good price for US folks. Probably the cheapest around.

What are THE basic differences, i.e. pro/cons in SC and SCS. I am very happy with my small 4 piece titanium SC, but am I missing anything without a shredder?

You know most grinders come with those little plastic scraping tools for scraping the kief? I lost mine and ive been trying to track one down.

Any idea where I can get one? Or what to other people use? I've been using my pen knife blade but it would be nice to have a little tool I can leave in my tin again.

Thanks :)

Maybe a visit to a local instrument supplier for a guitar plectrum ;)

Yes, it gets a little stupid for what it is, when paying an inflated price for a plastic triangle, and then adding shipping from the US on top.

There are Space Case triangles on eBay, but still is US$13.10 once you pay for international postage.

Guitar pick probably best choice, or cut up some stiff plastic and make your own, old credit card or similar.

So now I'm thinking... what brands are best to scrap indica kief? what shape suits the SCS or SC best? are there mini picks for mini grinders? can we trust the plastic used for these picks or should we go for wood ones? are there any differences between a guitar pick and a grinder scrapper?

So many questions yet to be asked and so many possible answers to be given... we need a specific thread for it!

shouldn't we have a thread for guitar picks and which brands are the most efficient depending on your kief and stuff? You know, some picks are more flexible/thicker than others, there are different materials and shapes too, would the same pick perform as well on an SCS or an SC :D

Space Case say they have specific sized scrapers for each size of grinder.

I was wondering about the plastic, whether any gets into the kief when scraping it across the screen.

I think that the plastic triangles supplied with the SC and SCS have a square edge, while the edge on a guitar pick is probably a little rounder.

Whatever you use, you don't want it to damage the screen.

hahahaha, sorry, this just amused me tremendously....it's just a piece of plastic

Don't apply too much pressure across the screen and you won't grate the pick. If it is uniformly straight then you can use it to sweep and scoop up the kief (I've used small paintbrushes and those plastic brushes electric razors come with too, as well as the little triangle SCS supplies).

My opinion is not to fret (pun!) over plectrum rigidity or material too much, they work fine with all grinders and pollen catchers :)

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, I wasn't expecting that much. ;)

I realized I forgot the most important question!! Can you play the guitar with a kief scrapper?

What's the best grinder for moist-ish herb? If there is one... I live in the caribbean, so that's always going to be a problem.

While looking at grinders on Amazon for the first time in a while, I happened upon this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013899KSW?psc=1.

Looks nice. But something seems fishy about the reviews. Of 42 reviews, the oldest is from August 5. 90% of the reviews are 5 stars, and all the other reviews are 4 stars. Furthermore, most of the reviewer pictures look like marketing materials.

That looks like a rebranded SharpStone. The tooth design, hole pattern, and even the knurling on the outside look exactly like my medium 4-piece.

With that said, if it is a rebranded SharpStone it's probably a decent grinder (though at that point I'd just get a real SharpStone lol). I love my SharpStone, it suits my needs well. It's no SCS or SC, but it works great and it cost a fraction of the price. :2c:

I did a Google image search for "evergreen grinder." Interestingly, the search results included pictures of lots of different grinders I am already familiar with from having looked at grinders extensively on Amazon; grinders almost no one here would ever consider buying. It doesn't surprise me that all these grinders with different names may be related to each other, but I'm not sure why they show up in the search results.

What I never noticed before today is that all these grinders look the same (if not identical), but with different graphics/names/colors. Which makes me now suspect most cheap grinders on Amazon are basically the same thing, made by the same people. (And yes, they do resemble Sharpstone. And I wouldn't be surprised if they look identical to fake Sharpstones, but with a different label.)

Before doing the Google search, I read quite a few of the Amazon reviews for this grinder. As I suspected, the reviews are obviously mostly bogus (if they're not all bogus).

This looks like a decent grinder, but planting a bunch of obviously-fake reviews is lame. I would never buy this thing for that reason alone.
