Herb Grinders

Happy with 3" Kozo, but DO NOT buy it from Azon... They ship it without the screen, per their no-dope-stuff policy. I had to then order the screen ring from Kozo ($7) because it isn't just a screen ring, it's the catcher for the herb. Without that 1" tall screen ring, it dumps on the kief floor, which is only 1/4" tall.

Great grinder, but order WITH screen ring, elsewhere than the Zon.

Came with a spare nylon friction ring, put em both on, smooth indeed.

after long consideration i did buy the Aroma 3. found a shop in france that would ship to germany without too much hazzle and just received it.
after giving it a few test runs i must say that i am absolutely happy about the build quality. this is not my first grinder, but prolly my last.
now excuse me, i must continue to spin the top.

Best Grinder for Solo 3 (THCA Flower)?

I’m looking for the best grinder for the Solo 3. I use THCA flower, which is usually on the drier side, so a coarse grind seems ideal.

Is the BCG really the only solid option for true coarse grind? I’d like to stay around $50 — BCG factory seconds are $75 with shipping. I like the look of the Odin threadless grinder but not sure if the grind is coarse enough. Arizer also just dropped their own grinder, but I can’t tell how coarse it is either.

Any recommendations?

OMD can be pretty coarse and the new Bud Bee has a coarse plate as well. Honestly I'm not sure it matters so much which one you get, for the vape or the bud in this case eh

OK, under obligation to restore grinder relevance …

Does anyone know a good-quality grinder that is geared toward really small loads … like maybe in the 0.05-0.25 gram range (i.e., one-twentieth to one quarter of a gram)?

I normally use a BCG (OG aluminum, fine plate) to excellent, fluffy results with a quarter to a third gram, which I then store in small glass vials.

But even just a quarter gram gets a bit lost in my big ol’ BCG. And sometimes I like to grind even less, just a pinch “on the fly”, for a single load. I have a cheap (but metal, and 3-piece) mini-grinder, not much bigger than a US quarter in diameter, that serves in a pinch. But I don’t get the consistent and fluffy/flow-ey grind I would get from the BCG. (But then it wouldn’t work well to put 0.05 in the BCG—talk about lost in there!)

Maybe I’m the only one with this application … but surely there must be others who would want to grind a small hit’s worth on the fly, perhaps while out and about (so a smaller grinder would be much better—BCG etc. too heavy and not easily pocketable).

I would think better grinder makers could sell such things on their own merits for this kind of use, but also benefit from an effect where people might be willing to make a smaller purchase first, to try out the brand, and then be more willing to spend bigger and upgrade/add-on a bigger model.

I suppose I could just do like Dan Morrison and get a loupe and some tweezers. But I imagine the convenience of a single-dose grinder, maybe with a direct-to-stem ( or -bowl, etc.) funnel … maybe even several funnels, to fit different vapes.

Something you could pack in a Vapman case, say, along with the vape.

Would anyone else have an interest in this sort of thing?

Unfortunately none as good as BCG really? That is already pretty small, and ideal, I don't think they've ever had requests for a smaller one?? As far as I know... Zam is the tiny grinder I knew of, but it's not as good in my experience, so you're having to trade off

has BCG ever offered any totally flat bottomed catch plates? i like it mostly, but i cant stand that it wobbles all over the place when im scooping stuff out. it blows my mind they didnt make it totally flat and annoys me to no end
Stainless versions have a much nicer flat bottom.

The magic flight finishing grinder is very small. Roughly the size of the heart piece of the vapman.
But be aware that the grind is super fine, not fluffy and it's a pain to clean.
I've had one and 3D printed adapters to be able to grind directly in the smaller Miron glass jar (infinity jar).

If you want a stainless steel option, the herb ripper mini is probably still available at some stores.

Has anyone used one of those fancy coffee grinders that have "clicks" where you can set the desired grind granularity? Would one of those work or it's too fine for weed and would get clogged pretty fast?

I'm looking at my brother's new coffee grinder with some ideas haha

If I was to guess I'd say you loose a fair bit of crystally goodness to the grinder burrs, coffee might be fun after though!

I believe the aluminum (3 piece) are still gem cut on the bottom. The SS one have a flat bottom. I have both and I despise the flat bottom on the SS.
Just curious as to why you don't like the flat bottom. I don't have the gem cut so I can't compare it to the flat bottom grinder I have.
