You lose it at the time but it's not lost forever. I'm with you that 3 pieces are the best but I won't lie, that 4 piece Stainless Steel Lift has been on my mind lately. What you gain you lose. with a screen.

You are not alone there!I won't lie, that 4 piece Stainless Steel Lift has been on my mind lately.

I am glad they only have the 4 piece as I would probably buy a 3 piece, just could not bring myself to butchering the kief screen the way I did my 88mm SpaceCase.
I would be into a XL BCG, I have a 'Large' SLX and it is so small compared to my SpaceCase it feels useless, I hate having to rip buds apart with my fingers (the main reason I got a grinder) to fit into these small units.BCG will announce their XL version and then I'll be totally fucked lol.

Interesting, I love my Gr8tr v2! Different strokes for different folks.Bought a GR8TR V2 for xmas
i dislike it
- it is very small
- teeth are microscopic and get gunked in just 3-4 grinds
- surface is very sticky too (black anodizing or whatever)
- teflon o ring between grinding chalbers is very thin and large and get in the way when manipulating
- manufacturing and QC seems very poor on mine ( marks of machining, on one chamber threads there was like a drop of acid that has destroyed paint and showed raw aluminium underside and it was dirty in that spot (green-black shit on my hands)
so i asked immediately refund (before even trying) and they told me to keep it after refund (namastevaporizers.fr are good sellers) so i cleaned in ultrasonic iso just to try functionality. It was no no all around

Nearly everytime I mention Lift I state that I would buy a 3 piece if the bottom piece was deeper to be able to grip better and to store more herb. I emailed them the other day asking if they had any plans to make something like that but they said I was their first request and because of the logistics of making a different part (which I totally understand) they didn't have plans to make something like that in the future. They did mention a plastic spacer ring as a possibility in the future however if anyone is interested.
I had also asked about the 4 piece Stainless Steel version compared to the aluminum version and this is what they said.
"All operations and grind consistency are the same with all versions (Stainless Steel and Aluminum) - it is the exact same design. But the Spinner on the Stainless Steel version is so much heavier that the momentum of the mass when it is spun makes it continue spinning - it also dampens the cutting, so it feels so much smoother."
That last part has me. When I use my BCG it cuts so effortlessly its ridiculous. When I use my HerbRipper XL it doesn't cut as effortlessly but I love the heavy feel of the stainless steel. I bought a Lift copycat on Aliexpress and even it cuts really nice regardless of how poorly it compares to my BCG or HerbRipper in its construction. That just tells me the actual Lift should cut smoothly and the stainless steel version would cut like butter.
Basically I'm trying to justify in my mind why I should buy a $400 CAD ($300 USD) grinder when I've been parading around about how 3 pieces are the best and that I'll never own another 4 piece. You watch, BCG will announce their XL version and then I'll be totally fucked lol.
Searching for a new Grinder need to know if the Brilliant Cut Grinder worth the hype???
@flammy
Do you have all 3 plates for your BCG? How do they compare to the LIFT for grind consistency at fine, medium, and coarse?
my santa cruz shredder medium three piece has never let me down ...Looking for some recommendation for 3 piece for micro dosing.
I got me a "classic" weed grinder. Made out of stainless steel in china with a package from Taiwan, a teflon ring from Japan and a price from Germany.
I got this size model iirc, just because it was what they had in the shop. I think I would rather take a larger model. The medium one just costs a little more:
https://blackleaf.de/en/detail/index/sArticle/1392
It is very heavy for its size. Half of the lower part is solid steel.
The edges are a bit sharp and the teeth cut well. This model is a bit small and awkward in my hand also because it is the first 2-piece model I have. But they also have 4-piecers.
I love that i can scrape off what builds up inside and don't have to worry about aluminium teeth wearing down and getting vaporised or burnt. Also I see me rather clearing this SSteel one with alcohol that the aluminium one. (Noting that are all a bit exaggerated fears in reason to have a reason to buy a new grinder)
The pouch has a zip and keeps the grinder well closed for travels. This is a great feature.
Lifetime warranty, whatever that means.
I like it also for its price and simplicity. Of course I could imagine some refinements, as having a compartment in that heavy base or something, but then it would get more expensive.
I went to the Black Flag website and they have two types of stainless steel grinders that look very similar but have different prices.
This 49 mm 4-piece Steely Dan comes in a zip bag and costs €65: https://blackleaf.de/en/detail/index/sArticle/1390
While the non-Steely Dan model comes in a velvet bag and is way cheaper at €45: https://blackleaf.de/en/detail/index/sArticle/2470
Any idea what's the difference?
Also, how much herb can you grind in a 49 mm grinder versus a 59 mm one?
Thanks
@flammy
Before I got to the end of your post (where I see you bought a S.S.) I was thinking "but the stainless is shiny!" as a reason to buy it. Also the weight. This is why I love my HerbRippers, they're friggin tanks. I just wish the medium grind of the HR wasn't medium-fine. I like the medium on the BCG better.
I kinda want one of the stainless versions but it feels overkill when I've moved away from 3 piece grinders and usually only use a medium plate. But that finish!

Edit: Do you know when your stainless steel version will be delivered?
Has anyone use those Santa Cruz Hemp Shredders? They look like they are capable of finely grinding flower, like the storz and bickel herb mill...
