Herb Grinders

The clogging along with quick access was the major downside of threaded grinders.... im still limping with my SpaceCase 4 piece threaded .... probably takes like 7 turns to open and requires lots of thread cleaning

But the quarter-turn locking system design helps get around all that and is employed as i understand by Herb Ripper, Lift and Santa Cruz Shredder plus probably others

I am by no means an expert so please correct me as i dont own any of these beauties yet and dont know anything first hand .... who knows i may end up with a BCG

SCS is definitely not a quarter turn.

Having threading does not bother me as long as the grinder is big enough to hold 3 to 5 grams that way I only have to grind once a day or so.

It depends on how many visitors I get, by myself around 2g a day and dropping as the rosin takes over. (over 1g just in the Plenty before bed every night)

my medium 3 piece santa cruz shredder has worked great for me ... i haven't tried any of the new grinders on the market ...

Same here. They just seem more like sidegrades than upgrades. There really need to be more 3"+ grinders.

So ... i went with the red 4 piece Lift as a birthday present to myself .... received it on Thursday and introduced it to the family ... everybody's happy

I still stand by my original assessment. My Lift is still my DD and my BCG mainly sits unused. Keep the included guitar pick. It's very handy for cleaning. What you will notice is that the blade will attract resin and flower residue. Since the blade is a flat surface (vs teeth), you can use the included guitar pick and scrape the resin directly off the blade. I save the resin chips from this cleaning procedure and use them as toppers. Very strong and interesting due to it being a blend of multiple strains.

The only other area that I will collect a little bit of resin buildup is on the surface area right beneath the lid. Over time, little specs will get stuck. You can scrape this off with no detriment to the anodization.

Really curious to hear your long-term impressions and congrats on the pick up. Its miles better than any conventional grinder. Also although my BCG sits unused its still a very fantastic grinder and a grinder that I can still happily recommend. Its just not as good as my Lift IMO.

Yes, in addition to an SCS, I still want a Lift as well in my collection.
I also want the new Super Weapon. I loved the last iteration (I bought two), so I really want the newest version now.

And I'm probably going to buy another ZAM when the updated model with the new color(s) is in stock.

There really need to be more 3"+ grinders.

I agree, just easier to hold and spin and as you do not have to fill completely lets you pick where not to put bud to avoid build-up problems.

Yeah Ill prolly not end up getting it but Im on the waitlist now so we shall see. Im definitely going to get a jumbo SCS when it comes back in stock in purple before I even think about the lift.

Quite the contrary. The lift is much less work. The process that I described with regards to the blades is effortless and does not require much time. Grinders with teeth also experience resin buildup but are much more difficult to clean.

Additionally, I've only cleaned the blade once since acquiring in June. I cleaned not because the blade was causing issues but because I'm OCD and I wanted to harvest the resin.

I have yet to use a grinder in which material does not somehow get on stuck the grinder over time. For me, the Lift is the easiest to maintain.

I also appreciate the weight of the standard lift. The SS Lift is 1.72 lbs which is quite substantial for a grinder. Its nice but not needed. The design of the Lift has already very much minimized the amount of potential metal on metal contact so possible aluminum wear isn't as high as compared to other grinders.

A couple of other issues I had with the Lift. While it is effortless to grind, I feel since it "cuts not grinds", it takes a lot longer/more twists, and that blade was a nightmare to maintain and got gunked up fast IME. Great concept, just wasn't my thing. Cool seeing many of you liking it though!

Im just judging by the pictures. Its about the same width as my SCS but the herb chamber is half as deep. When Im out and about not having to carry extra herb with me is really nice.

Based on Troy's recommendation, (thanks @ohmygodimsohigh) I picked up a Santa Cruz Shredder.

As Troy mentioned the grind is quite fluffy.

My concern/question is... The bottom section where kief collects is rounded, yet the grinder came with a pollen scraper that is a total triangle which is useless in this kief catcher.

That just doesn't make sense for a mid-to-upper tier grinder?

Nope lol the scraper it comes with is useless unless you have a lot of kief.

Someone should tell SCS that they would be better off not giving a scaper than giving a useless one.
