well great news. they will be replacing my chromium crusher. i love this grinder, but didnt like the fact that i couldnt clean it with alcohol. so i am trading for a gunmetal version. so far im very impressed with http://www.chromiumcrusherherbgrinders.com/ costumer service. they have been very helpful and respectful.
looks like they need to update the product description on their web site now
"In the past years of carrying this grinder, we have not had any returns, exchanges, complaints or defects. The Chromium Crusher is truly the best priced grinder in the market today."

i know i read that too, i can show photos of what happened. it has nothing to do with the performance of the grinder as it is strictly cosmetic. but on the screen section all the paint flaked off after an iso soak. i dont know if i just had a freak one or what. but the rest of the grinder parts were all fine, none else were affected by the iso. but i always thought the screen section looked 'lighter' then the other sections, it didnt quite match from the start. so i wonder if maybe there was an oil or something on the grinder before the paint was applied that once it was washed all the paint fell off. and im not kidding it FELL off haha, there was chucks of paint floating in the iso, it was something ive never seen before.

on the inside of the screen section the paint is fine, it is just strictly on the outside, so i have one natural colored section on my grinder. (replaced with a standard gunmetel version) so maybe i can have a 5 piece grinder. add in the extra section for more filtration of the kief. ill have to experiment.

My grinder came in the mail today! It is a two-piece small (2 inch) space case grinder with the titanium coating.

The coating is already coming off just by a few bumps of the blades inside (blade against blade).

A review will be coming shortly. :D

I doubt any coating would survive the corner of a blade in a SC, that being said were you tapping them together to get material to come out, or just placing the two sections together? I was just about to order a 4 piece SC since I love my 2 piece so much, so I'm very interested in your review of the titanium coating.

Most of the chips in the coating came like that already. If you open the top of the grinder at an angle then you will chip some corners (which I unawarely did).

The coating seems really light and not very durable...

I've done the same thing on my 2 piece several times, I have the regular metal one however so I'm not able to easily tell if shavings come off when the blades hit each other. Guess I'll stick to the silver ones, at least then they'll both match. ;)

When you say chips came off; Are saying that chunks of metal came off? Or just chunks fo the finish came off(like paint chips?

Because, it would be VERY hard...to take a chunk of out of the unit, on a titanium piece(these are the Space Case untis currently anodized). As Titanium is an extremely durable, and super hard carbide based alloy. To ship the actual alloy, some serious pressure would need to be applied.

The finish on the titanium, is not a paint or spray on technique(that many low end units have). It is a true anodization, in that an electric/chemical reaction is used to achieve the desired look/color, so chipping of this finish is rather diffucult to achieve, especially with light force. Sure it can happen....but force greater than normal use would have to occur.

Is it possible you received a unit that was previously damaged(prior to you receiving it)?

Yeah it was perviously damaged. I've looked at it more closely and have observed the nicks that were caused by me left no finish damaged.

Should I return it? There are about four granule size places where the aluminum base can be seen.

EDIT: You know, the finish just is not that durable. I lightly scraped it against one of its own blades and was able to easily scrape some of the finish away.

The anodized coating on MixnBall grinders does not come off. You can't even intentionally scrape it off. It's my favorite brand. Too bad the company owner is making it so hard to recommend it. Between the really long restocking time, and no response to emails, he's running an excellent brand into the ground with poor service. :/

well i got my new grinder today, and i actually like this alot better then the one i originally ordered. theyve updated the design so the chamber above the screen is deeper so less spilling! post some porn for you guys, if you notice the screen section on my blue grinder is bare metel. im gonna try some anodized blue spraypaint with some tape covering the screen on both sides and repaint it. i also got a blunt splitting keychain with it, i dont know how often i will use it, but hey it will be nice for those times i happen to burn a blunt.

Is that the small and medium chromium crusher, or the medium and large? At a quick glance they seem to have the same amount of holes and teeth but the silver one looks like its .25-.5 of an inch bigger?

Max - I've been eyeing the mix n ball 3 screen grinder (so 6 pieces :o) thats been up on dieselvapors, do you have any experience with that particular model? Because a 600 micron screen in a grinder seems pretty amazing to me.

The picture on his site is of the Triple Screen v.1. The new version is probably what he has. v.2 (which is what I have) has a bottom section (kief tray) that locks with 2 small magnets, but because they're small (and they have to be), the section comes off fairly easily. A lot of people didn't like that design, but I do. I like the easy off kief tray. You just have to handle the grinder properly during use to avoid an accident. If nothing else, it's easy to just grind with the grinder flat on a table. I hold it in my hand. I just make sure I grip it right.

You can get what MB calls the 'threads upgrade' for $5. That piece connects the kief tray (bottom) to the screen section in a press on fashion, so the bottom becomes secure at all times. This add-on was a response to buyers who didn't like the 'easy off' bottom section. Personally, I don't like the 'upgrade'. To me it's a downgrade. But to each his own.

I like the removable, switchable screens and the versatility of the grinder. I like that it doesn't have a ton of teeth-loads easier that way. I only use one screen at a time (you can use no screen at all if you like). I just pick the mesh size I want to use. It's not really a good design IMO, for using more than one screen at a time, and screening twice doesn't interest me anyway. I tried a 2 screen, 5 pc. Chromium Crusher, but decided it wasn't for me. The screen sizes were too close together for me to even easily tell which was finer, and in use I really got nothing in the 2nd screening. Both were too fine for my taste.

The coating on the grinders is excellent. You get less material sticking to the grinder, so you don't need to clean it as often. Cleans easier too. They don't have an o-ring so grinding isn't as quiet as with ones that do. That doesn't bother me. An o-ring is just something to eventually wear out.

I'd email dieselvapors and ask about the Triple Screen. If it's v.2, the screen section will have a bit of an hourglass shape to it, instead of straight up and down like the pic. MB has raised the price on this one up to $85. If diesel still has it for $70, which was the price when he opened up for business, you can get it for under $62 with the 12% off. All things considered, that's a great deal if you like the features of this model. There are trade-offs though. As well as the smaller magnets which make careful handling important, the screen area is smaller than you'd think (about 35mm), because they are removable. I like the features though, and I'm fine with the necessary drawbacks. I like the 2 pc. models too. The 2 pc. Classic is a good deal for $16.50. I use that a lot.

Good to know that using all 3 screens at once is less than ideal. I'm leaning heavily towards it, because I generally hate the unscrewing part of grinding in a multi section grinder so the magnets seem like a great idea to me, but I can imagine the first time someone else tries to use it losing all that wonderful work. Just checked dieselvapors and it actually comes with a pollen press as well, this is definitely looking a lot better than getting a 2 piece with a sifter/storage box. At that price I can get the triple screen, press, and a 2 pc for about what I was expecting to pay for a SC. Thanks for the input, I'll email dieselvapors this weekend and figure it out. :peace:

I would never spray toxic paint into a grinder, just asking for trouble/toxic residue etc.

What I hate about some grinders including my TruBlendz and by your above picture of the chromium crushers are the center magnets. If you notice the tall center post with the magnet is on the lid, but should be on the grinder side. This is because when loading herb into the grinder it will always cover the low magnet, making putting the grinder lid on straight impossible because herb is between the two magnets. See cosmic below, the magnet in herb grinding chamber is on the top of the post so it is easy to wipe herb off the magnet before putting the lid on. Always look for a grinder designed with the magnet at the top of the post in the grinder chamber base.

The grinding section screws onto the screen section as other grinder do. Easy off mini magnets are on the kief section and between the grinder parts. Another way to use it is to take the kief/bottom section off and grind over a piece of paper or something. You don't have to worry about keeping the bottom piece on and you still screen the kief. The Triple Screen gives you more options than any grinder on the market.

The press in the pic is the v.3 press that sells for $15, and was included when I bought my Triple Screen. It was a special deal though, so if dieselvapors is still including it with the grinder, that's a real bonus. It's a nice little press.

i guess i done have a problem with this. as i tend to avoid sticking the bud right in the middle, i break up into smaller pieces before placing my material in the grinder, then i line the outsides of the grinder.

Yup. I do the same thing...........with a titanium SC. Works great. Found out that I don't need as fine a grind as I thought I did.

I've got a 4 pc. 3'' aluminum grinder that I got at a shop for 24.99. So far it hasn't steered me wrong, I usually grind it with only 2-3 quick twists, then I kind of stamp it down on the table so the herb will settle in the second chamber. I prefer not to use a coin, and have yet to use the little squeegee looking thing that came with it. I'm pretty patient when it comes to collecting kief, so no need for a coin or contaminants. I did notice the kief is golden with the faintest hint of green which means plant matter is getting in. Sharpstones don't have the finest/smallest screens but it's better than some and will surely give good returns. Sharpstone imo is the best value for a good grinder, but ymmv I wanted to support my local shop so I paid their price.

Alright, I need a grinder. Somebody on here recommended me one on ebay. A 2.25" 4PC CNC CHROMIUM CRUSHER TOBACCO HERB GRINDER BLK. Turns out the guy was a scam and never delivered. I have the grinder that came with the Buddha now. It is 2.0 Premium Aerospace Aluminum Grinder. Picture:

cnc-107-base_1_30.png

It is kind of small and not magnetic. It is a 4 piece and has a screen.

I am looking at now buying one of these grinders. Ranked on this site.

http://weedgrinders420.com/

I was thinking of the chromium crusher grinder on there. Would that be better than da buddha grinder? I dont know much about grinders and dont want to spend more than like 25. Any of those other ones on that site you would recommend? thanks

bump up your budget to around $40 and you will be happy. I bought a 3 piece grinder from a smoke shop for around $10. I was so psyched that it was cheap (it had a pollen catcher also). Well used it for 5 mins and threw it in the garbage.

I can personally vouch for the trueblendz and what ever 7th floor is selling. Both of them are good grinders. I like my trueblendz better than my other one. But both do a very good job.

I just checked the free grinder I got that the blue color was coming off of. It is a TrueBlendz. I would NOT get the colored one as I literally could not get the dye to stop bleeding when I tried to clean before first use. Sits in a drawer, useless to me.
