I found this nickel in my pocket change a while back and have been carrying it with me as a pocket trinket.
I have a fondness for old mostly worthless functional items that have been used and show a lot of wear. If you haven't used a 75 year old hardwood handled Philips head screwdriver, you are really missing out!

Has anyone used this one yet? I saw it on a Massdrop vote and looked around not much info around about it.
Made by High Co. the stonemill 2 has no teeth,just opposing ridges to pulverise and separate herb to dust in 7 turns is impressive
BTW I own the large SCS in Purple,love it.took Vitolos advice and tore the screen out making it a nice deep 3 piece.

" that sounds kinda bullshitty. I mean did germs and/or bacteria in a grinder ever cause anyone problems? Also when you do want to clean it, you can't just toss it into some ISO.
How long is it gona last too? After 2-6 years you probably need a new one?
I imagine it not being very effective at actually grinding, but I could be 100% wrong.

Great... but they used that for grain or other foods. A quick google gave me nothing for using millstones with the green. So this might destroy a bunch of the good stuff or maybe preserve it better than any other grinder, but nobody knows that really.
For now this just looks like someone is trying to stick out with a unique design that's based on nothing.

Nice match with the s&b grinders. Ok, I know I will get a lot of s*** for this, but do grinders really matter that much. I have the plastic one that came with my mighty, space case 2 piece, and a cheap 4 piece golden gate. The first two work great. I was thinking about the SCS 3 piece gunmetal more for the function of it being a nice little case when I'm on the road. The most important factor is waste. I like the s&b filling tool because I never waste anything. With the space case 2 piece, I need to empty it and then transport it into my vaporizer. Some herb is always lost in that process.
Any advice or opinions?
Sorry for double post and saw this on amazon when looking for Santa Cruz. The one thing I like is the way you can transfer to vaporizer. The less times I use my hands, the better. I always drop some or get some of the good stuff on my fingers. How do you transport your grinded material to vaporizer?

Is an SCS necessary? Absolutely not? Is it nice to have? Absolutely!!!
I had a medium $$ 4 piece that did the job fine. I was very satisfied with it until
I biught the SCS 3 piece. Love it and no comparison.
My 4 piece is now a storage vessel.
The SCS works like it is on roller bearings. So smooth. You can shred just a little bite
for a coarse grind or keep the herbs in the shred chamber (hold sideways) and keep
bringing size down.
Warning--if you try one, you WILL be spoiled.
I'd rate it as one of my best vape accessory purchases!

I have a 2p Space Case and a 2p SCS. The teeth are shaped differently, the Space Case has diamond teeth and the Shredder has rectangle teeth with concave sides. This seems to shred the material better with less effort and with a more uniform result. It doesn't stick as much around the edges. I also have a 4p Sharp Stone. I only use my SCS now. I can't explain it. I paid the same amount of money at different points in time for these three grinders, and the Santa Cruz Shredder is the best of them.

I have owned a Large 2pc Space Case for about 4 years now and it's flawless. A few months back it started getting stuck, but I cleaned it out a bit with my dabber and it was grinding like new! I really liked it because it is titanium, and doesn't seem like it will break at all.
I have been interested in the Santa Cruz Shredder for awhile now, after reading about how amazing it was on here. Ever since getting my Herbalizer I have been thinking about getting a new grinder, since I have found that the Herbie is very finickle when it comes to grind quality. Some people say that the more ground the better, but it seems more gets stuck to the top screen which I am trying to avoid.
From what I see the SCS makes bud fluffy and seems like it might improve my vapor quality with the Herbie. I do have a few questions that I hope people can answer.
1. Does anyone have a preference of a 2pc vs a 3pc for grind quality?
I've been looking up a lot of reviews on the SCS, and it seems some people have mentioned about the different grinders producing different bud consistencies? It seemed this was mentioned for the 2pc vs the 3/4pc (since they have holes that the bud falls in). Some people seemed to say that the 4pc (and I would assume the 3pc as well) would give a nice grind and the fluffy bud would fall to the bottom, while the 2pc might grind too much or something like that. I'm curious what people here have to say.
As for the grinder itself, I don't need a kief catcher, and the bud holder seems nice, but I really have always preferred 2 pcs. I also really like the larger grinders, so the 3pc small I'm not so sure about... Plus it's almost double the price.
2. Is there anything to worry about with the SCS at all? It seems that everyone loves theirs and they do a lot of high tech processes to make sure the grinder is great, but I have read about wear and tear on some people's grinders, so that concerns me. I also have always been wary of the aluminum grinders, or lower quality grinders. The Space case is amazingly built since it's titanium, even if I did break of flakes I shouldn't have to worry (depending on the grade level, but in general safer than aluminum). Is there any worry of flakes or anything getting in the bud?
3. Is it even worth getting another grinder since I love my 2 pc Space Case? I saw a poll where it showed SC vs SCS and the overwheling majority picked SCS. I just want to make sure it's worth getting, and if anyone has a Herbie would you say it helps with vapor production and all that good stuff with using the herbie?

I'm pretty sure the TI space case is still just an aluminium grinder...
It just has a coating that has titanium in it or something along those lines.
I dropped my TI space case on to tiles once and it definitely cracked/chipped off a little bit of the coating (but its on the outside of the grinder so I didn't care.)
I'd kinda be surprised if the space case coating was really that much better than the SCS coating...
I haven't had either of them flake, wear or chip Fromm normal use...

I haven't regretted the decision once, and I've used my space case maybe once or twice since I got the SCS...

TBH the orange acrylic grinder that comes with the volcano works really well. It also has a clear chamber on top for storing bud, which doubles as a compartment for a small pick/a couple screens.
Also, for "combusters", you could keep a small nug, some papers, and a couple matches in there. Your entire joint kit in your grinder.
If anyone knows of a high quality metal version of this (pyramid shaped teeth), that doesn't chip or anything like that, do tell.
This thing eats up thin stems (the ones inside the buds) and dense buds like nothing, and allows for good coarse/fine control. You can get a very even/fine grind if you want which is great for most vapes. I just worry the teeth tips might chip and would go undetected, which is why a metal one would be nice...

The 3 piece is perfect for transferring to the Crafty/Mighty filling aid.

A metal grinder with this teeth pattern is something I've wanted for a while now...
Those volcano grinders give such a good grind, but they're so hard to clean and there's potential for some acrylic to end up in the bud...

The 3 piece is about 2.1" diameter I believe. I like that size as I don't shred much at once.

I had just dismissed it as crappy because it was plastic, but it gets a finer grind than the classic metal 4 piece a lot of people have, Finer grind > able to break up the already tiny pinch, into more "first hits".
Btw can these be cleaned with iso, or does it damage the acrylic?
At several bucks, it might be worth it to just pick up a few of these as backups until someone comes out with a good metal version.
