Thank you both for sharing your experience. I'm glad that you're happy with yours.

I wore the battery down doing max temp burnoffs. I'll do 2 more batteries worth and then decide if I'm keeping it.

It may be that I am more sensitive to the smell than others. It reminds me of the odor that comes from a hair dryer if you know what I mean? With the other 2 convection portables I had, I just started using them despite the odor. I suspect that it didn't really go away but became masked by herb aroma.
what unit a lobo or rogue2? i thought ted units were your thing,no? most users deep into ted's are not big on battery portables, it seems to me.

decided to check back after 4 yrs to see if there's any good portables in the market now and this Rogue 2 fucking rips. kinda funny that my last post was about contemplating buying the og Rogue.

The direction I could see you guys head in is making this thing as badass as you can at this price point in a Geek Bar Pulse kinda of way. Add some different colors, upgrade the display graphics (cmon u guys can do better than the current), maybe a bit of a bigger bowl, and this one is a spitball but you could bring over that Regular/Pulse mode feature where the regular is what the draw is now and then pulse mode would open the air hole on the bottom all the way up for bigger rips.

my bad for rambling hope everyone enjoys the holidays

i agree to a point. the pulse mode/on demand mode, would requires a larger battery, bigger display, new firmware, you want a larger size bowl, etc.
those things would be nice but it would not be a small frame vape unit anymore. that's just a guess on my part.

personally, R2 fits the stealth sized, dependable, portable vape market, near perfectly. also R2 does not break my bank.

i did not mean to say anything neg about your vape ideas cause they are good but just do not think it could done and still be backward compatible with the og rogue which it a major strong point for owners of hr vape products and the 50% lifetime warranty if their product degrades or fails.

I wanted to see how the vaped weed colors compared at different temperatures for my Rogue 2 review.
I vaped at 3 temps, but struggled to get the capsule apart and ended up dumping it all over myself without getting the pic.

Am I the only one who struggles with capsules?

I bought my rogue 2 right when it released, and just cleaned it for the first time today, and I never use dosing caps. If you dump the bowl while its still hot nothing really sticks to the titanium walls...just give the screen a brush with your fingertip at the same time. The screen does slowly clog a little, but it was still working fine when I decided to clean it today.

For the cleaning I just pop out the screen and drop it with the dimpled glass mouthpiece into some iso while i wipe the inside of the bowl and magnetic mouthpiece area with iso qtips. Then I wipe the screen and glass piece with qtips, blow the screen clean, rinse, reassemble and go. Super easy.

(For on the go I repurpose zip fizz tubes by filling them with pre-ground flower and just pour some into the bowl. The fidgety capsules are entirely unnecessary with this device IMHO)

High,

Some thoughts on crossing boundaries to establish them...

It's not made for that!
You will ruin it!
Be afraid!!

Uh....yeah, no.
No fear.
If I wreck it I'll buy another one.

It has been said that necessity is the mother of invention.
My dab rig tastes like burnt electronics and I needed another option.

Rosin, batter and such, roll a dab in ground bud, put some ground bud in the dosing capsule and top it with the badder booger. Cap it and carry on wayward son.

This works flawlessly with zero liquid after a session.
Delicious.

Forgive me HR, I have sinned.

their warranty states absolutely use only as a dhv. if you have an issue or when you send it in, they will look for concentrate use and they could deny it on that bases alone.
no one says be afraid, you bought it, do what you think is best. if i had money to buy another R2 if it breaks, i'd get a mid level dab unit for about $165 instead of using rogue2 for concentrates, that's my decision..
yeah occasional use, with deep cleaning afterwards, all dhv can do it, probably.
but that's a personal thing and if it ever needs a warranty replacement, i'm sure they will consider if the unit was abused with concentrates.
"crossing boundaries to establish them" is your right of purchase. however there are addition costs involved when things do not go your way.
glad you love it in the R2. i use my starry 4 or vb1.5 for doing concentrates or hash, occasionally. both allow for it.
please understand these are my thoughts and nothing to do with HR

Oh, I know. That was me debating with myself!

I am fine with voiding warranty. I won't make the R2 a dab rig but until I get a new one this is fine. I proceeded cautiously and was pretty sure there would be no problem as long as no liquid reaches the bottom of, or exits the capsule.

I tried it upside down with a small bong first to observe how the melted dab would absorb into the ground flower. That's when I knew that the inside of the capsule remained dry and I could test it in normal use.

I will be trying the Shenzen Crossing Core 2.1 for proper dabs.

I just got one as a present for Christmas, and as per instructions I ran it on the highest temp for 5 minutes. When it was done I could get a bit of a burnt rubber/burnt silicone type smell coming from it. I let it sit for 15-20minutes and I don't know why, but I decided to pack it and try it out.

After 5 hits I had to stop. I could notice it on hit one but was locked in a conversation that my brain didn't register until hit 5, "why are you still smoking this". I could taste rubber/silicone in my mouth on inhale. Even after stopping I had to gargle my mouth with mouthwash to get the taste out.

Upon inspection, it's coming from the piece holding the metal screen at the bottom of the mouth piece.

Has anyone else had this issue? I severely doubt any safety of using this device now. I had a fury edge for many years prior, I've had many other vapes and never had this issue. Why introduce rubber/silicone to the airpath for a "healthy" alternative. It should be like arizer that has only glass. They need to make a mouthpiece that extends down into the bowl.

I'm just very curious with all the rave reviews that nobody else has experienced this? I've reached out to their customer email and nothing yet.

Because a lot of our forum members seem to not have any kind of silicone sensitivity, while a few like you and me find its smell obnoxious.

Turns out there's a lot of variability in humans sense of smell (including genetically-linked aspects)
I think anyone that doesn't notice it is delusional. I have 8 different vapes myself (including a Fury Edge) and tried a dozen others through friends. I've never come across anything like this before. And I mention I've had a Fury Edge bc I really enjoyed it and thus sprung for the Rogue 2 when it's battery life started to fail over 5 years later. So I was a fan until this. I just can't get over how UNhealthy this vape must be for you.

I don't get the design aspect, it could of been engineered without it in the airpath if your goal was a "healthy" vape.

This thread is not full of complaints like yours. I doubt that most Rogue 2 owners are delusional. It is more likely that your unit is different from most. It's not safe to generalize from a single sample.
Agree to disagree, I tried it with the replacement and the same smell appeared. Most likely gaslighting yourselves.

What isn't safe isn't my assumption but rather whatever fumes you're inhaling from this device. If you taste it or not.. if you notice it or not.. you clearly have people telling you it's apparent and there.. so why try to debunk it? It's there pal.

I don't know what you're trying to convey with this. In my post I stated I had a Fury Edge for 5 years with zero issues. The Rogue 2 is what I have issues with. I only "upgraded" because after 5 years the Fury Edge once at half battery does not heat the herb properly. And it goes from full bar to half life after about 30mins of use. The Fury Edge was great, that is why I decided to stick with HR for an upgrade.

No the Rogue 2 and Fury Edge are not the same. For one, the silicone holding the screen was blue on the Fury Edge and not black as it is with the Rogue 2. So right there is a material change.

Secondly upon further inspection of the two, the silicone on the Rogue 2 comes more into contact with the metal heating chamber. The Fury Edge, the silicone sits a bit higher, it doesn't come into contact nearly as much as the Rogue 2 does with the heating chamber.

So no they aren't the same setup

You added the off gassing comment after my response. Again I disagree with you as per below and as per the Rogue 2 goes to 430f. And again as a veteran vaper, I know what I am smelling and tasting

"Silicone typically begins to significantly offgas at temperatures around 400°F (204°C), with most outgassing occurring during the initial post-cure phase at this temperature; however, it can continue to outgas at very low levels for extended periods even after the initial curing process is complete."
