Discontinued Haze Dual V3

Adventuring Through Time and Space
I've had my Dual V3 for a few weeks now so I thought I'd drop a review

Initial Impressions:

Taking it out of the box, you can tell it's quality device. Aesthetically it's great. I got the purple and love the color on it. Very solid feel to it and it feels great in the hand. Snappy hinges and the mouthpiece slides in and out without a problem. I really like the lip on the mouthpiece, I probably would've been annoyed if it didn't have that like the previous models, so great job on that addition. Charging up the batteries the first time took about 6 hours.

After the batteries were charged I did a burn off of ABV in each chamber. After that I loaded the convection and the can up with some finally ground herb and got to vaping. Unfortunately, the burn off with ABV didn't seem to work for me, and the vapor was pretty mediocre. Took about 5 bowls in each oven until I was getting tasty vapor, but once I did, wow, phenomenal flavor. I prefer the glass piece to the steel one as I feel it gives a little bit more taste.

The Dual is also extremely efficient with your herb. I honestly can't kill one bowl by myself, so I usually do two sessions. The second session isn't as tasty of course, but with the efficiency I'm getting I can't really complain. When I'm done, the ABV is a very dark brown, bordering on black. I use level 1 most of the time and kill the bowl on level 2. Really impressed with how efficient it is. And if I don't split the session (vaping with a friend) the flavor lasts almost the entire time. Usually when the flavor starts to dip I'll bump it up to level 2 and finish it off. I get about an hour of vaping on each battery.

Cleaning isn't too bad. I do a deep clean once a week, but other than that I'll just clean out the ABV at the end of the day and wipe the ovens with a iso soaked q tip. The can is a lot cleaner than the convection and conduction screens since no material gets stuck to the top of the oven. I haven't had any issues with the mouthpiece sticking.

Cons:
-Holding it right handed the oven gets pretty hot. Minor inconvenience but you have to wonder why they didn't put the oven on the other side considering most consumers are right handed. A little bonus for lefties I guess.
-Cans and screens can be a little frustrating to fill. I have pretty small hands and it's still a pain.

The rest of the cons are related to the price point
-Only one SS lid for the cans. It comes with two cans, one with the SS lid, one with the silicone lid. I would have liked if they added another SS lid since it's a lot cleaner than the screens and the taste is comparable.
-The Dual comes with a lot of small accessories, which could be easy to lose. Paying $250 I think they could have thrown in a little plastic container to keep your extra screens/cans, cleaning tool, and stem in. Not a huge deal but it does feel like Haze is trying to nickel and dime me by offering a case on their website along with more cans.

Overall, I love this device. With the dual chambers I load once in the morning and I'm good all day. Efficient and great flavor. I also love having the batteries outside of the Dual. I'm very excited to take this camping with me this summer. It's also replaced my Solo as my go to vape when I'm at home. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering picking one up to do so.

I have been running my v2 with a pea size thing of wax. Getting good hits but I notice the can and whole chamber is profoundly sticky with visible residue. I at first thought I was spilling it while hot but I have been pretty careful.
Just wondering if this is how the Haze is or I am doing something wrong. I actually love the hits for concentrate and haven't tried the flowers yet. It is just a bunch of cleaning for every load and I do kinda want this for wax. It is not as bad for flowers though, yes?
If I wanted to mix wax and flower would that be with either steel or silicone lid? Or does one work best?
Is the v3 better in this respect? Just trying to figure out the ultimate maintenance level. I am seeing a billion alcohol wipes in my future.
What do you all think about stealth as compared to the Arizer Air with flower? When you can hold it up and down do you think it looks like a regular box mod to the uninitiated? The Air I feel is a dead giveaway but I think I will try it with the long stem in a takeout cup.
Seems like the Haze might be better to grab a session and get it out of sight without attracting undue attention

I haven't received my Haze yet, but I think both the Air and the Haze look very inconspicuous. A lot of people have e-cigs these day, so people really won't pay attention. Neither looks like a cannabis using device to regular folk. I would say the haze is more stealth because you can pre-load your bowl (well actually two of them) and you can use the canisters so it's very quick to switch a fresh bowl in there.

Calyxsmokr, sounds to me your "pea" size is a little too much and it's boiling over a little bit. I forget who it was, but someone on here made a "sandwich-in-a-can". I have done so myself, and highly recommend it myself. I left the lid open while heating to see how much to put in. You can always put the silicon lid on after the wax melts down. You almost need side boards for a pea size. You need room in the oven for the vapor. If all you have in the oven is a big glob of melted, then there is no room for vapor.
I only put a couple of bbs worth in between herb layers. Mmm-mmm good.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Doc

Need some advice on the Haze V3. Just bought this for the wife and it is our first time vaping. We usually smoke with a pipe or bong. We noticed right after vaping with the Haze that there was a whole different taste. Is this something that you have to get use too? Plus we like a body high and yet we get a head high which the wife doesn't like. I told her it could be the herb that we are using. I did get in touch with Haze and told them that ours tasted like burnt plastic. Can't return it so I am stuck with something that the wife doesn't like and rather smoke off of the bong. I am reading the threads here and getting some pointers but I don't about this vaping stuff. So far I am trying the canisters now to see if there is a change in taste. I like the idea of sticking it in your pocket and go plus there isn't a real heavy herb smell as it would be when smoking a pipe. Any advice would be a real help for us old timers to get with the new way of smoking.

My new haze (V2) took awhile to "break in" and improved vaping quality and taste after using it for a week or so.

You can buy attachments to connect your vape to your bong if you still want to go the water route.

Hard to imagine that vape vs combust would affect body vs head stone but I guess anything is possible especially with cannabis. Keep using it, it will improve.

These things like to be kept clean. Good thing is they are very easy to clean, but definitely perform better when freshly cleaned imo.

I have seen someone saying that you can fill the cans 3/4 as long as you keep it horizontal - so I didn't think pea size was outrageous.
Is it the silicone lid you use for sandwiches?

My Haze arrived! Vaposhop delivers very quickly. I can't wait to try it out. Batteries are charging as we speak. I ordered four high capacity batteries, but I decided I'll charge the regulars first.

First impressions: It's sleek and seems very well made. The unit is smaller than it seems in the pics (that's a good thing). I think it's very inconspicuous and does not draw attention to itself. The canisters are tiny little things. Looks like they take enough material just fine, but they are tiny in my largeish hands.

Vaporizing does require a few more rituals to toss in the mix. First start with nicely ground material. If you use a can make sure you use a stainless steel lid for herb. I like filling the can full with a light pack down. Make sure the can tab is facing outwards. Select a heat setting and give it at least 5 seconds to heat soak before and after draws to get thicker hits. Use a slow and steady draw. I usually climb temps while vaping the haze. Start at one for most of the session then go up temps every 4 to 5 hits after.

I really enjoy the taste but do get a dry throat. I like to keep some water or tea around for sessions. I find temp one to be the golden spot on my v3.

I hope your wife and you can utilize the haze as the great tool it is. If you have any questions definitely ask and welcome to the haze fam!!

Started using the v2 for flower with the silicone lids. Is the v3 a different hit from the v2?
I get a good hit but a bit particle or two will come through at the end of session (not a huge deal) and the airpath is a bit loose. As in if you pull too hard then you just get more air.
I have heard that the mouthpiece changed between V2 and V3 and curious if that caused changes in the hit and anything coming through. I can deal with it if you have to just draw slow but I can't consider it ideal.
Other than that I like its flower performance.
Haven't tried the two screen inserts yet. Seems like they might let more specks through.

I guess what her problem is the taste. Me I don't think it taste all that bad but she doesn't like it. She is use to the burn thru a bong or pipe. I am trying to tell her the taste she is getting is the pure taste of the trichones and not the leaves and stems of a bud. We do grind it up in a Wolf Castelle grinder. We grow our own and the herb is 5 to 6 weeks cured. Not real dry. There is still a little moisture like tender tobacco. Maybe need to let more moisture dry from the flower. We are still trying tho.

Welcome! I was a lightweight when I switched from combustion, so I did not experience the switch the way regular smokers would. I think if you go to the main page, there should be a "resource" tab with a section about how to switch from combustion to vaping. I think, from what I have read of others, that you might benefit from a tolerance break after you quit combustion and before you start vaping, and then allow yourself an adjustment period (some say days, some say up to 3 weeks) for your mind and body to adjust to the difference in the high. But you will probably want to read that page in the resource thread since that is all a little off topic for this Haze thread.

Re: head v. Body. I think a) chemicals unrelated to cannabis are in all forms of smoke. When you inhale them, they cause tiredness, exhaustion, and loopiness. Or they did for me. I can function when vaped. b) temperature matters. As you are transitioning from combustion, you will probably want to run your Haze on level 3 or 4 most of the time. As you increase the temp, you lose some cannabinoids and activate others. The charts I read seem to indicate that the sleep inducing, which I associate more with body high, are released at the higher temperatures as well. Lower temps are associated more with the head high. I think you have a v2, correct? Then low temp for you is level 2. I think level 1 was useless for herb, or was that v1? Anyway, you probably ly want 3 or 4 anyway.

I did get in touch with Haze and told them that ours tasted like burnt plastic. Can't return it so I am stuck

That seems out of character (Haze is usully so helpful- did you contact Haze or the seller?). Possibly many people do not like the taste of those lids. I hate them. I think they taste yucky for flower. They do not bother me for concentrate. If you can afford to buy a 5 pack of stainless steel dry herb lids, you will prefer those. Or the convection or conduction screens. You have to clean your device more if you use the screens. Have you watched the Haze cleaning video yet? They have one. I like the convection screens but prefer the cans with steel lids for cleanliness and convenience.

You might also try soaking your silicon lids in coconut milk every so often. I think some people clean their lids that way and it might help mitigate the flavor. I do not know, having never tried it.

Hi, I just got my new V3 a couple of days ago after much anticipation. Been using an Alfa for a while now so not completely new to vaping. Was hoping for some tips or suggestions as I have done about a half a dozen bowls so far and just cannot seem to figure out what I am doing wrong.

I grind my flowers with a Santa Cruz shredder fairly fine..I've tried packing the cans 1/2-3/4 and completely full -loose and packed...originally started out at temp 2/3...now starting at temp 1...regardless once it gets to correct temp I can only get 4-5 slow even draws out of a bowl before its done....with the Alfa I was getting 15-20 draws before it started to get weak or burnt tasting. The ABV comes out extremely dark almost burnt looking. Is that normal? My alfa the ABV would come out a very light brown.

At this rate my flower consumption will skyrocket due to getting very few draws per session if I continue to use it. Any ideas or tips on what I'm doing wrong or is this actually normal for this unit? Thanks....

Hi OSD420, you made a great choice with the Haze Dual. I don't understand what you are doing wrong. Maybe you are drawing to slow?

I use the convection screens. I pack them full. I start @ 1 until allmost all vapour is gone. Then I go two 2 for maybe 6 more draws. At last I go to 3 and finish it. 3 Still gives me 3 or 4 good hits before I turn the Haze off. Now what I notice is that when I draw slow, there is almost no warm up time between the different temp settings. So maybe you draw to slow?

...now starting at temp 1...regardless once it gets to correct temp I can only get 4-5 slow even draws out of a bowl before its done...

Well that is definitely not how the haze is meant to work. A few pages back I did a battery test and timed everything with a stop watch. With a 2/3 medium ground canister pack I'd get a good 10 to 15 minutes (about 10 to 15 good hits) of tasty vapor on level 1 heat, then I could bump the temperature up and still get several more hits at each higher setting.

I really don't know what you could be doing wrong. When using canisters are you making sure you put them in correctly? The U cut out should face towards the vapor path.

I haven't heard of too many defective units, but if you are getting only 5 hits before dark abv on the lowest heat setting you just might have a faulty unit. Really dry low quality herb should still last longer. Sounds like the thermostat could be malfunctioning making the oven get much hotter than it should.

I'm sure Scott will have more info and can help you out.

What's up everyone. Just purchased a Haze Dual V3 yesterday. It should be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait. I'm new to vaping. This is the first vape I ever bought. Allday everyday smoker for 20yrs so figured it was time I put down my glass pipes and try this out. What's everyone's favorite settings to vape on? Temp setting. Dry herb can w/SS lid. Convection or conduction screen. Just looking for what everyone prefers and what type of session that gives you?? Thanks in advance! Much love! Keep em firing!

If you are new to vaping I would also recommend a desktop to go with your Haze. I find that I get much more extraction using lesser amounts with my desktop VapirRise than with any portable I have used. It also took me a week or so to get my Haze running right. Don't know if its because it needed to burn in or just getting the hang of how to use it best. Portables can't be beat for quick hits and of course on the go.

One thing I like so far about the Haze is that is is very easy to clean. The coconut oil around the gasket at the entrance to the vapor tube was a good tip. Much less sticking of the mouthpiece. Haze likes frequent cleanings I find (probably most portable are similar.

Woolspinner; yep got a hold of Haze and they told me that once a unit is used, it can't be returned for Health reasons. But they refered me to this site, which has been more helpful. We own the Haze V3. No matter what type of screens or canisters we were using, we kept getting a nasty taste like burn't plastic. But after using it a few times more, the nasty taste has almost disappeared. But like somethings, once you get that nasty taste, you can really still taste it even tho if someone else takes a vape and they would probably ask whats wrong. And thanks, I checked out the resources and that helped out a lot. Just to my wife, it is the after taste or something but hey, we are not giving up tho

I had the same burnt plasticy type of taste. On the hatch that flips open to expose the two ovens there are two chrome (ss) lids attached to a piece of silicone. That piece of silicone can be removed from the hatch. Once I realized that piece of silicone could be removed I soaked it in coconut milk and did a burn off and haven't tasted that plasticy taste again. If you haven't removed that piece of silicone and soaked it, it is worth a try. My haze now produces tastier hits than any other vape I've owned, including an iolite, an indica noir, a pax 2, and an og silver surfer.

That said some people just like the taste of combustion, I personally cannot stand how combustion tastes after 6 years of fucking combustion; but everyone is different.

Now another matter. I can't believe I'm the only one that has ever had the problem of not being able to store the glass mouthpiece inside of the unit. The mouthpiece is simply too big to fit, forcing me to remove it in order to flip the power lever off. Scott was nice enough to send me a replacement mouthpiece, but I was accidentally sent an incompatible older version glass mouthpiece. The weather is getting nice and I'm going to be using my unit outside more, and having to carry the mouthpiece outside the unit definitely effects portability. So no one else has had this issue?

I'd just use the ss mouthpiece instead but I find the flavor is not quite as nice and at high temps with long draws that ss mouthpiece can definitely chap some lips.

Here's hoping Scott gets back to me and that a replacement v3 glass mouthpiece solves this issue. Cheers

EDIT:
I'm usually really patient, but my wife got tickets to ganjacon a week from Sunday. I'd love to be able to store the glass mouthpiece inside the unit by the time I go. No outside herbs are allowed, but you can bring your own smoking/ vaping devices. I'll probably be showing the Haze off to many MJ enthusiasts that may not have seen it before, it would certainly be more impressive without having to grab the mouthpiece out of a separate storage (I made for it) before being able to use it.

Yes, thanks dantheman. I just took the piece off. Didnt know it even came off at all. Don't have coconut milk but will soak the silicone piece in alcohol and see about getting a small container of coconut milk when I am out and about. Its worth a try. Thanks everyone for the help. We are doing our best to convert over to vaping. Just old habits are hard to break. LOL

Hey Riden, when we spoke I kind of chalked it up to the new vape taste. If you still think the taste is off I can take it back and test it myself. If there is something wrong we will certainly replace it for sure. It could just be the difference in expectations coming off combustion as well. I have actually talked to several people who said they prefer the taste of combustion over vaping. I just :hmm:!!!!!

Anyway you have a whole bunch of wonderful Haze family members here to help you too. We welcome you and @OSD420 to both the Haze family and to FC. @OSD420 let me know how it persists for you. Did you do any burnoff's with the unit? If you did you may have damaged the temp sensor and this could be causing some issues. We can troubleshoot in PM if you like.

Happy Friday everyone!

Bought a new Haze Dual V3 Stealth from here (classifieds) last week and I have been rocking it daily since then. I really like it: it's classy, has good battery life, nice capacity with dual bowls, quality materials, I'm happy! Now to try and find the cheapeast place in Canada for two XL batteries.

Welcome to the club! Glad to hear your're happy! Being happy is healthy!
I have a rotation with my vapes. When the HAZE comes up, it gives me the ol' one-two. One chamber to set me up, and then 2nd knock my ass down. Back to back sessions sometimes is mandatory.

With the popularity of on demand convection vapes(which I own) I find that I still need that conduction session.
