Hi Rob, Temple Ball has a bit more plant matter and varies in consistency with the micron rating for the bag. Heat the wand with a torch till the quartz is pink, let it cool for maybe a second or two and then push the wand into the ball. With the extra plant matter, a little more heat works better, especially the first few touches. After that, there is residual heat left in your concentrate and more heat is less necessary.

The idea is that if you drop your ball into a typical pre-heated quartz banger nail, you'd best be able to take it down all at once, anything left in the bucket is going to cook because the bucket nail retains heat so well. That's putting the *cannabis to the heat*.

Using a wand allows you to put the *heat to the cannabis*....and then withdraw the heat so your cannabis does not cook while you are savoring the draw.

I can get the hash to smoke but only for a brief moment like a flash effect and then the wand is too cool.
I have tried bubble hash in sifted form,temple ball and some of the 90 micron bubble which is very clean and it’s always the same.
It’s like the quartz is either too hot and burns the flavor out in a secondary flash of smoke or too cool and boils it away.

Can this pipe be used for anything else ?

Is there any other pipe recommended for hash?

Rob, Some people use cat# 237, but it's really just a standard pipe that you can finesse into using with Hash.

I saw the 1 star review for the 'missing' free case. What sort of torch are you using? I didn't get good results until I started using a large torch. Heat the wand until it's glowing, the flame should turn orange, then after a short while the glass will start to glow. Remove the flame, count to 5 or 10, then plunge the wand into the bowl. The vapour won't start to appear until you lift the wand, then you can lift and push into the load until it's done. It does take a fair amount of practice, but this pipe is certainly capable of vaping bubble of questionable quality, so I assume temple ball too.

Appreciate the advice,
I am using a propane torch.
I use it for soldering copper pipes and a few other projects.
I’ll go back to pin and glass method for now.
I’m putting too much in the pipe and not getting the return of using a pin and glass method.
The sweet spot even when I find it ends before I can get what I’m looking for.

Been following this thread and really wanting to try out a "Hash Pipe" but could not get any Hash in Southers Oregon. After months of calling the dispensaries, I just decided to make my own with bubble bags and some trim from a friend. Turned out really well, full melt.

I had my neighbor make me this pipe. It works but the bowl is a little too deep and narrow for my 8mm quartz. I'm going to have him make me a bong bowl.

While it is technically smoking, it feels more like vaping and was really nice. I'll definitely be playing around with this technique.

I think the perfect iteration of this design would have two heated plates (like hot knives) and somehow smoosh them together. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time but making it practical and scalable seems a tough job. For now the classic bowls work well enough, I will agree dialling it in is tricky
