Thanks everyone! GS hits have spoiled me - someone called this the "connoisseur's" vape and I very much agree. Taste is absolutely pure from a truly unique all-glass pathway.
[12 hours later] well, I was mid-posting when girlfriend person laughed mid hit and shot some herb up into the heater - I'm not sure but there could have been water as well.
Some herb was stuck on the heater so I powered everything down and waited for things to cool, took the GS apart to clean and - FUCK - the heater glass cracked (thermal shock from, I presume, cold herb and/or water shooting up and touching the inner glass). On the plus side, I kept calm, totally cool (GS hits all evening may have helped) but oh so frustrated on the inside!
@jojo monkey was quick to reply and I went ahead and paid for a second heater (he also gave me the option of a free repair but I'm addicted and had to have a functioning heater by this weekend)
I'm sure he has a full time job and this is a side deal but so far it's been exemplary customer service! I asked him about the possibility of a screen under the heater to protect it - of course, he's thought about it.
So what does this say if I'm willing to shell out more money just to have a functioning GS by the weekend? Granted, this is my first plug-in vape but the flavor is incredible, the purity of the hits is like nothing I've ever tried in a portable (and btw, I am a Mighty/Milaana/Zion/Sticky Bricks owner ... I have most of the best portables!)
If you manage things right there is NO scorching, no "toasted" flavor ... just straight terpenes. And of course, the effect is unreal! Maybe it's because you can kill any sized bowl in one hit, I want to say it's like dabbing using flower (but could just be the honeymoon phase)
I'm sure over 4/20 I'll buy into a Flowerpot just to see how different it is but for now I can't see how any plug-in unit can offer this pure all-glass flavor! Love at first inhale
Oh, one last thought... you can run this guy at lower temps and sip on vapor from your glass piece, it was just more fun (to me!) to crank it to ~850 and whitewall the glass. Herb was consistently tanned brown throughout the entire evening until the GS's temporary demise
Fingers crossed for a new heater by the weekend though, awfully chilly in Texas right now brrrrrr
