Discontinued Ghost MV1

I just wanted to add to this thread and share that I just repowered my three battery packs based on info I read on this thread. It was super easy. I researched some batteries and found Mooch's resources online, which has a wealth of battery info. The best summary is at the link below:
I selected Molicel P28A based on that and purchased at what appears to be a reputable US seller:
I held the pack in my hand and pushed down on the bottom of the case edge on either side of the latch mechanism. After working it for a few seconds it, the glue started to release and I was able to pop the bottom of the case off. Remove the latch and the spring. This has been described earlier in this thread. Cut off the two little tabs that hold the battery in. I used a very small clipper. A small screwdriver would probably work too. Then the old batteries can be popped out by banging the pack on your hand. Insert the new cells. The bottom snaps back on with no glue needed.

This was sooo easy. I really still like my Ghosts. I have three of them that I got around the time the company was going out of business. I plan to keep using them for years to come. Now that I can exchange batteries when they decline, I see no reason these cant last for many more years.
Good luck!

Do you notice the Ghost lasting longer on level 3 battery level?

I just completed it all, so can't really report on that yet. My old battery packs had gotten really bad. One stopped working alltogether, and the other two would only support a single session. I'll try and remember to report back in a few weeks after getting some time with the new batteries.

The Ghost keeps popping up on the front page and every time I tell myself I need to go charge mine up and get reacquainted with those pesky crucibles. Off to do my Sunday morning long hike but before I go I’m going to plug in a battery pack on the fast charger, fill a crucible or two and have it ready to go for when I hobble back in the door. I’ll report back after I finish up with it later tonight!

hey, I recently bought a Ghost for $100, unfortunately I have a small problem with it, the seller said it works and it was collecting dust in the box, so I'm selling it as soon as I receive it, everything was fine except for the peeling paint, but that's the norm for it.
after turning it on and setting the temperature, after pressing the vape button it starts flashing green on the sides and red in the middle, am I doing something wrong or is it not working?

This is my second vaporizer, the first one is Flowermate Slick and I will be angry if it turns out that this Ghost won't work because I had to choose Arizer V-Tower

(zombie) Woof.
Are you also holding down the fire button...? I haven't used mine in years, so I forget the button sequencing off the top of head, unfortunately.... Did you not get the box with directions, too...? @LesPlenty still might be using his unit(s)....? Otherwise, I'll try to dig one of mine out for you and see what I can do as soon as I can....

Btw, there's a time window to go back and edit your posts... usually a few hours or more depending on the thread...:peace:

I'm pretty sure I've never seen that light configuration. That sounds like an error condition of some kind and it's definitely not in the manual. I would test the voltage of the battery but that seems more likely to be a device issue. Make sure the latch is properly and completely closed.

I was one of the last holdouts still using the MV1 occasionally, until I met my true love, the TinyMight.

I have instructions and videos on YouTube, but in none of them there is a situation where after pressing the rear button it starts vibrating and glowing in all colors without giving steam.

The door on mine broke, as was common, so I had to use a zip tie that slides over it to keep it closed, but it still works otherwise. Don't really use it though.

Wow, that brings back some memories! I know this vape had some hate but I kinda liked it.. Flavor is excellent and up there with FF2+. Still got a medium used black one (dd) and an unused nickle one that I picked up during the fire sale along with the fast charger. Only thing I did was open it to update both to latest firmware when ghosts servers were still up. App still works! You can google 'ghost mv1 apk' for android app.. just doesnt update the firmware since the servers are long gone..

What temp was that? looked like 3 green? Wasn't it 3 levels green then 3 levels yellow then max 3 levels red for concentrates? or just level 3 red..

I found this pdf on a .ru site just in case anyone wants to bust one out for nostalgia..

RIP Ghost..

Help me. Battery management chip needed.

Hi all, I’m new here but have had my Ghost MV1 Stealth for a few years now. I absolutely love it. However the charging port snapped off the battery management chip. I have tried to fix it but made it worse. I am hoping someone might have a chip from an old battery pack or even a complete battery pack for sale that I could buy.

Thanks.

I have a few spare batteries, but the postal service in Ireland won't accept anything with a battery. I removed the batteries to send to a guy in Puerto Rico but postal services are still suspended from Ireland to PR since Covid. Where are you located?

Hadn't used my MV1 in a couple of years. Been using Mighty+ and XMax V3 Pro. Took it out last week, and I have to say it's a great vape. Smooth, cool, great flavour, and really packs a hit. Pity the design issues like the door lock and the lack of reliability caused Ghost to go bust.

I think this is my first post here since buying my mv1 at the launch! It's been fucking solid ever since. The only issue is now the battery degredation but thankfully I got two. Any ideas where can I get more batteries? Seem like most places are oos.

Post #6226 talks about replacing the pack cells, unfortunately I can't find the one with pictures but iirc it's in the last 50 pages or so.

Since I haven't read the entire thread so please excuse me if it's been debated, but has the idea of devising a desktop power supply been explored?

it started here i believe: https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ghost-mv1.25299/page-234#post-1479978

and here are the instructions: https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ghost-mv1.25299/page-234#post-1480363

OK. It's possible to remove/replace the MV1's batteries without ripping apart the housing!

The trick is to remove just the bottom cover. It has some adhesive holding it, but it's a rubbery
adhesive with a very light grip. Use a small, thin bladed screwdriver on either side of the
latch mechanism and pry the bottom cover off.

Save yourself a lot of grief and take out the latch and it's spring. Set them aside someplace
safe. If you don't do this, the latch will fall out anyways and the spring could fly off to parts
unknown.

Next, pry out the batteries. I put duct tape on my screwdriver and was able to pry the
batteries up about 1/8 of an inch. I then used pliers (covered with more duct tape) to extract
the batteries. You might need to remove some angled tabs with a utility knife, not all of the
housings have these tabs (see photo #2 below).

Put in your new batteries (observe the polarity!), assemble the latch with it's spring and then
snap on the bottom cover. The inside of the cover opposite the latch has a groove that fits
a tab on the bottom cover, so there is no need to glue anything back together.

Image #1. All the parts. Too much disassembly!

Image #2. The tabs that hold in the batteries. Not on all holders.

Image #3. Another holder, without tabs. Just the right amount of disassembly!

I've run mine off my bench supply using alligator clips. The MV1 is unpleasant to hold without a battery attached so for a permanent corded setup you would want to open a pack, remove the cells and install a barrel jack attached to the power blade clips inside the pack. The biggest challenge is finding an 8.4 V power supply capable of 8 Amps (typical draw is 5 - 6 A but you want some overhead). That is serious amperage. I tried to build a 12 v to 8.4 V buck converter inside the body of a pack but the space was just too tight. It could probably be done but finding high amperage components that will fit an 18mm tube isn't easy. A high current variable supply will work but it's risky to use a supply that will kill the device if turned up too high.

Moving on to better vapes killed the motivation to continue :)

Thanks. I'll look into it. Actually I managed to find my dream vape, vapexhale Cloud evo, so I'll soon have that and retire the ghost only for once in a while outside sesh. My two batteries should be plenty even for a travel.
Never could get over how great the evo was for tiny dose on demand :D So excited!
