Discontinued Ghost MV1

I'm still new to the mv1, but I think I've pretty much got it down. I start a bowl at 2 amber and work up to 2 red. The crucible comes out an even dark brown. Draws should be slow and smooth to get the best results. I've been packing my crucibles the way I would for a desktop vape - 1 even scoop using the newvape loading scoop, no packing, however much weight that might be. It ends up coming below the top of the crucible - when I tried packing fuller crucibles the lids got easily clogged.

And afterwards:

Work around for latch issues.... Get some gorilla tape and cut a piece the same size as latch and put on.curve of latch and pull it tight towards the release button......seals everything and also seems to help.with inconsistent hits....yes you have.to pull up tape when you open latch but I have tested regular duct and.it.did not work .more.than two times before tape was not sticky......gorilla glue solves.that....I have one piece of gorilla glue.that still holds after 50 plus openings/closing and tape is.still holding....not ideal but gives.back that hit we all have grown to love until yours can be fixed.....hope it helps....have a great weekend!

I was just loging in to comment on how my latch wont stay closed now when the unit is very hot. Been using it at higher temps than usual. At my usual lower temp its stays shut, but if i go into red, that darn dor wont close. Don't know if i can find that type of tape here, but will look around for those high temp sessions. Don't live in the US, so not sure if I'll ever get it fixed. :(

I can't say I've heard of that before. Not living in the U.S. normally shouldn't have an impact but with the virus I'm not sure. Get ahold of Ghost (I use their online chat during business hours), they'll set you right.

Hi guys
First I have to state, that I kind of got used to the device and got realy good hits out of it.
But as soon as I started to get used to it, the door wont shut down anymore.
I think something broke in the door or at the button that holds the door.
And again i'm frustrated. Help please. Any possible fix?

I was saying go the other way that way the latch is getting pulled right into unit....also I noticed if my strips were wider than latch it and overlapped my units overheated a lot ....I believe there is supposed to be some air along gap between latch and unit to come in to cool actual temperature of unit ( how hot to touch it feels)... it if works great don’t change a thing I just thought I would share! Get to vaping!:leaf:

I think the heat makes the spring, which holds the latch button on place, loose how rigid it is. I can actually feel how softer the button slidding becomes once the unit is heated.

I know Ghost would solve my issue... I just can't bare thinking of not having my MV1 for more than a day. I've been hooked up to it quite heavily this past month or two, and my other vapes just don't cut it any more...

@cosimo you're on the right track!

All latches IME go at.latch teeth, the teeth along with heat and.opening /closing latch while hot cause the upper left corner to break first , every single.one of mine broke at thE same spot. you will know when its coming when you get.only one.good hit per crucible and that the abv is dark with no vapor/effects also look to see if bott.....the reas o n this happens is latch is slowly letting in more air and after first hit crucible is spent....and with the U.S. Stuck at.home for another month you guys should be prepared imo for.ghost.not to answer requests.for replacement s for that long. ITs.gonna be a bumpy ride people......

I will say this about the method I use to remedy latch problem(see previous post),
You Always get a great hit like when it was brand new, yes again its cumbersome to say the least.but man oh man does it hit like a freight train every time!!!!!!

my last two latches just went yesterday....so I’m a tape use all the way! Lol

Yeah, for the record I've stopped attempting to contact Ghost for the time being. I have a need for service as well. I've tried chat for 3 days straight without a single peep. I've got private messages via here out to them. I've got a ticket opened. And for good measure, I've got a direct email to their support address. I haven't attempted to contact them again since March 23rd due to absolutely zero response after 3 days in a row of trying.

I know once we come out of this Ghost will step it back up as always, but I wish somebody from the team would at least check in here to let us know what the story is.

Peese!

Ok, so, now my issue is that since last friday I've not been able to find any alcohol and in my country we have mandatory quarantine. I NEED to clean my heatsink! Alternatives?? Would boiling water work? What about Bacardi vodka?

I'm having a similar problem finding iso to clean my mighty and ghost but with my old plenty I remove the pieces and soak them in warm water with washing up liquid then agitate and use cotton buds to clean it. Hoping we can do the same with the ghost!

Damn getting the heat sink stuck might be a bigger problem if they are unavailable to help hope covid doesn't put them out of business!

Did you already try pushing it up from inside by pressing the upper green silicone? I'd do that after a little heatup to loosen it up.

take top off if you can and disassemble inner parts that way you use a pair of pliers to grab and pull it out
Thanks Guys! was able to ply it out with haze tweezers with only a tiny scratch on the paint :) working nicely again after a cleaning do get tunneling but very potent hits more so than any other vape I tried.

Hi guys, well it looks like I'm destined not to have a working Ghost MV1. 3rd Stealth with the latch issue. I've started a ticket but not sure if anyone is at home. If I do get a replacement I think I'll go for satin silver next time. Have any satin silver MV1 owners had the latch issue? Such a shame as the vapour from this device is only matched by my firefly 2 and it is much better at battery life and not overheating. I hope it doesn't take too long to sort out, I'm flaring up at the moment due to the stress of this Corona Virus and I need every tool in my arsenal to be working.

I have a satin silver. It's working fine, and I have had no trouble with it. You should take into account that I've only had it since December. It's my bedside vape, so it gets used pretty much every evening. I do baby the latch and door a bit. According to @virgil_GHOST it's mainly been the stealth that has the issues.

ooooops, never mind. I see the member got his heat sink out.

Just another thought....yeah, I understand why people liked the Stealth model but I also know that there is a very definite history that latch and finish peeling problems are almost (but entirely) Stealthy model issues. But people keep going back and getting under RMA....yes, another Stealth! haha Get something...anything...else, people :-)

I do have a SS and a black chrome and have not had any finish or latch issues....but who knows, tomorrow the latch might go. Dunno.

Cheers all

I had more replacements than anyone I can say IME.....satin silver is good but prone to latch issues over time , this is design flaw that stealth was supposed to fix but that material that it was made of chips./breaks easier under heat....I currently have 6 units ( they said I didn't have to send them back anymore) so trust in me this.....should Ghost survive.this mess, version 2 latch fix should be at top.of.list.....but Ghost has not one time ever.questioned me and when operating always sends a replacement ASAP ....so log your requests so you're in line....and try my fix a few posts back....hope it helps
