It may be close to 30 years late...but, Big Brother is finally watching all of us thanks to our great technology.
God bless all those Gov't people who feel they have the "right" to watch us and decide what they feel is "best" for us all...
I used to work at the NSA back in the early 70's when I was in the Air Force. No such thing as cellular phones or the internet back then. Totally different world. Hell, we were decrypting manually with a pencil and paper..........lol.
But I really get a kick today hearing all of our allies being really pissed that we were spying on them. The fact is that everyone was spying on everyone else............friends included. But most all of our intercepts were targeted overseas unless we were listening in on foreign embassy's on our own soil using old fashioned bugs.
Fuck, I hope there's a statute of limitations here.....
. There was a period of time, 10 years if I remember correctly after I was discharged, where I couldn't leave the continental US without submitting an itinerary to the State Dept and get approval.

Yup. Happened really quick too, and to the intelligence community, that's like offering candy to a baby.
And this Snowden thing really has me baffled. Back when I worked for them, everything was on a "need to know" basis. Each section could be working on a piece of a puzzle, but no section knew exactly what the other sections were doing. How in the fuck did this guy, an outside contractor no less, get his hands on sooooo much information and then get it out of the building? THAT is where technology has really outpaced our ability to control it and THAT is a very scary proposition on many different levels.
And what's really scary is that technology isn't going to slow down in order for us to gain any kind of control over it. It's going to continue to grow and the pace of that growth will only accelerate.

I'd now like to serve a big fat helping of FU to the dealership in whose waiting room I currently sit!
Let me start by saying my story began yesterday when I called 1st thing 7am and was told to drop by and they'd have time to take my car in for a recall and a covered warranty item (car wouldn't start without repeatedly moving the shifter in and out of Park). Arrived, was told they were too busy and to come back tomorrow. This, by itself, is a epic fail.
Now, fast forward to today. Back to this dump. Now I'm told the Shifter-Starting problem is not covered under warranty and it would be $96 just to take a look. But they would handle the recall... (how nice of them!) When I was in yesterday, I mentioned this and was told no problem.
So anyhow, wish I had known this yesterday and I could give a flying F about a recall. I'm more worried about the car not starting when out with the family. Whatever, live and learn.
And the people, well that's easy... they are as run down as this dealership. Now I understand the rap most dealerships have is due to the few like this one.
This location has been removed from my references and address book.
Should I ever visit this location again, it is my true hope that someone spares me and runs me over with a Yugo!

Hydrolocked my jeep, almost threw a hemi in it, then a stroker, haha, went with another straight 6. FUCK vehicles. I wish i could ride a bike anywhere whenever.. Too cold in winter, FUCK winter.Unfortunately Yes! A Hemi-roid!
The straight 6 was awesome! Power, Torque, - quite a workhorse.
Now I see Jeep will start to put diesel engines in select vehicles. I'd love a JK with a Cummings turbo diesel!
I believe in Treading Lightly - with a Vengence!
Oh, and F--K putting a mini-van engine into a Wrangler!!!!!

Actually, a VW 2.5 turbo diesel was my first choice, however that engine sold before i got my hands on it. It wouldve taken some work to make it fit, but whats fun without tha work right? Nice choice of engines! If I'm not mistaken, a similarly sized option is available on the Liberty in Europe. Really wish for faster adoption of diesel options in the US. Would love to have some real crawling power at my finger tips, and still get awesome MPG numbers!
In regards to another XJ, does the GF vape? If yes, she may forgive you if you pre-installed a vape station (complete with a built into the dash Arizer EQ modded with the DDave mod). That and a split whip, so each of you could take hits on offroad adventures.... That may help with the acceptance of another XJ...
Good luck and agree it's the experimenting that brings the fun, be it vaping or offroading!

I have Meniere's disease and was ready to call it quits. After time, there wasn't a day that passed where the world wasn't spinning in overdrive and my head felt like a swollen hot air balloon. There were no activities with the family, no outings, rarely entertained guests. There is a cure for this, with a horrible side effect.... through surgery, they remove the part of your ears that handle balance and the dizziness goes away. The only thing is, the same part of your ear handles hearing too. So you trade losing the dizziness for your hearing. I went to doctors, specialists, and many others with "ists" at the end of their titles.... all with no progress towards gaining any resemblance of a normal life.
I was actually considering the surgery, as at all times my movements were hampered by lack of balance and nausea.... seasoned with the fear of starting a full blown episode (lasting 8+ hours, zero mobility, on my back, and throwing up constantly....).
By accident, I came upon a journal entry from another Meniere's sufferer who found relief with MMJ. That day, I was out getting my req and supplies.
So, in regards to this being a medicine, I'd back this absolutely.
Please share this with GF if you feel it's appropriate. I don't know details of what you're medicating for, but if MMJ is relieving symptoms for you or making life more bearable, then regardless of recreational use - it's still medicine.
I don't like to end on the negative, so will state that Meniere's has very little on me now. As for daily dizziness, it's gone!!!! I can walk without stumbling, run, bike, swim, and do all the things I never though I would be able to do again. And as for the full blown episodes, yeah, they come once or twice a year.... but when they do I no longer spend 8 hours pressed into whatever surface I happen to be laying on, throwing up non-stop till passing out. Nope, when I feel an episode, I heavily medicate, then go sleep it off!
I went from ready to quit to hoping I live to be 100-something!
When people state that MMJ is a gift, I believe many really have no idea!

I smoked MJ for fun. I got bored with it and quit. Mainly did it with my friends, all tha time, but never really alone. So i quit and never looked back. A former teammate from a traveling soccer team i was on recommended a vaporizer for my chronic SI pain. I also have extremely bad nausea. I have been to physical therapy for my hips, doctors, surgery, chiro's, everything i could think of. Other than pills to relieve pain, there's nothing i can do. And i much rather vaporize a plant than take pills from big Pharm. but to my girlfriend, if she doesn't see it or smell it, she's fine with it. She gets visibly ill when she smells MJ, i almost think shes allergic, as she gets multiple symptoms.
Ok, understand a bit better now.
Not sure how you feel about edibles, but they have advantages in your circumstances.
* To Address the Smell - cooking up a batch: you could make edibles in bulk, so that say once a week, or once every two weeks, you would cook up a batch and that would be the only time you'd generate a smell.
* to Address her seeing you medicating - with edibles, she'd just see some cool jeep dude eating something
I dont really vape in the daytime... work, kids, and whatever.... So I rely on edibles... Once you find the right dose (and you keep your parameters the same each time you make them), you'll be able to create single doses that can handle your various needs.

EDIT: forgot to say, with edibles start out slow!!!! There are too many accounts of experiences turning unpleasant due to overmedicating... and with edibles you're not in for a 2-4 hour ride, nope, it goes on for much longer.

Odd, I have exactly the opposite effect. My edibles give me ambition and energy... I do process my herb to ABV very consistently though.
Well, it is my hopes that you and gf find a common ground that affords both comfort with the medicine and relief from what ails you!
