I have to use pc's because of autodesk, and I used to have to use macs for publishing. I think I still like the mac os better, but they have become pretty much the same thing now so whatever. The hardware is much more expensive, but I traded in the pro for a mini and a nas a couple of years ago so the mac premium has been minimized. At least Adobe's got it figured out now.
As far as cell phones, fuck apple
and android
and all the carriers! I have been using a nokia 5800 s60 music phone for years, it has a great camera and music player, takes memory cards and has wifi. And it only cost $100 a year to use on at&t's go-phone network. If I need mobile internet I use an ipad without a fucking plan so I can turn the wireles$ on or off. Maybe I'm at a disadvantage but I don't
want the internet in my pocket.
The ripoff isn't whether you pay $100 or $500 for the stupid phone,
it's the mandatory
$1000 yearly minimum for using it imo
!
After I updated my nokia recently it stopped syncing (imagine that with a 5-yo phone), so I looked into getting the same model to replace it and found that they were still selling well, the price had even gone up for the newer US model--not bad for a 2008 phone! I was exited to try the US model since mine was the international version without the superior navigation that I don't need anyways lol.
Instead I decided
get current, and pre-ordered this baby instead:

It uses the new html-5 based firefox os. I like mozilla a lot in the browser wars because they are a not-for-profit corporation, and they are as open source as possible so I see them as white hats. Evidently the apps for this phone are all browser-based but I don't really care as long as the music player, phone, and camera work well. It supposedly ships in november.
It should be an adventure, and is certain to be a superior experience to my nokia. I tried an iphone 4s for a bit and couldn't believe how hard it was to get a voice memo onto the damn desktop. It wouldn't even itunes sync, I think I had to email it to myself. I returned to the nokia at that point, gladly. This new
geeksphone not only has wifi but an fm radio so back to the future baby!
