Flower Mill

I'm furious these farquars have sent me sweet FA stupid nylon washer that doesn't work. And I have had no offer of any kind, I think they should be sued for fraud and selling an unsafe product trying to palm us all off it's wear and tear you have pissed off the wrong person I'm a professional tester and I'd like to see your tech specs your requirements and your testing results and I will be then launching a law suit, last chance to do the right thing and replace your flawed faulty product that should never have been launched much less incorrectly labelling a product defect deviation from an expected result as a wear and tear issue last chance replace all your flawed products or print and publish your testing results and list of defects identified.

I contacted Flower Mill directly when my OG had the "shavings" issue. They were extremely cool to me and replaced my OG with a premium Mill. I love the Premium, it's what I hoped for in the OG.

@Axel_420 It grinds quite smoothly, but my OG did as well. I never compared them because of the shavings. If you're not getting metal shavings you're probably alright with the OG.
Mine was great other than the shavings so anyone who got one without that issue got a great grinder.

I think I have every size of the Santa Cruz Shredders(including that giant coffee can of a grinder), and the Magic Flight Finishing Grinder, and I never reach for them.

Every experience is subjective, but I encourage anyone having an issue with this grinder to reach out to the company directly. I'd hope if they'd be so cool to me they would to others.

I contacted them when I had shavings in my OG. They gave me the option to buy a "fixed" mill at a steep discount. The new mill didn't fix anything even with the stupid washer. Fuck these crooks forever.

So essentially they have been in contact with me asked me to send some photos detailing the problem which I did. Then Gentleman named Bryan took up the mantle and they have sent out for of charge a new premium and a new fine grind plate, as well the tracking details. So it is worth contacting them keeping the conversation moving ensure updates occur etc, but once it's ticking over then just wait as I said they sorted out my issue and Bryan was very helpful and courteous even when I was not always. So I urge you do contact them and explain detail and provide evidence and I'm sure they will replace yours too.

I think that a lot of grinders have metal on metal, or plastic on plastic friction. Is this problem limited to the flowermill? If so I'm interested in why... is it the metal they used or the heavy lid causing more friction than other grinders.. ?

If I were some of the people in this thread, I'd be fucking livid.

But... it does mill up that erb so nice and fluffy. It's a terrible terrible shame, all that has come to pass 😭

Well they sent me a new V2 mill and new fine mill plate, and the medium it comes fitted with, plus some millwax, I'll let you all know once it arrives if the problem is cured.

Hi well I can say version 2 has definitely fixed the issue + adding the millwax is a double up things I've noticed its a much more robust unit it doesn't all just screw together the top appears to all be in one piece and the additional mills / blades are a lot more robust, its still not very good with dank herb and requires lots of cleaning but apart from that jobs a good un

No, the problem is not limited to the flower mill. It's a well-known issue resulting in a variety of ways to try and mitigate it. The ever-popular Brilliant Cut Grinder utilizes a plastic ring, which would obviously be difficult to detect shavings because of the color/composition of the plastic. The OMD uses a ball bearing so there's limited metal on metal contact on the pin and none between the grinding plates. All other grinders will have some sort of residue if one bothers to check with a q-tip, etc. and this has been known for at last as long as I've been toking (40+ years). That's also one of the reasons companies even offer stainless steel varieties of grinders since at least the shavings will be relatively inert.

Thanks @.brew, that makes sense 🧠

You've got 10 years on me, but in my 30 of toking, I've never really used grinders (just rip with fingers and shove in a rizla). But now I've switched to vapourisers, obv it's become an essential.
