Firewood Vaporizer

Octavia

No thoughts, head empty
Got my invoice too.
I'm keeping my FW9 still. Once it goes out of rotation, on the shelf it goes. Still nice to break out every now and then.
Agreed, I thought about giving away my 7 when I got my 9, but glad I kept it. It’s definitely nice to have a spare in case one breaks or needs a cleaning, and it gives a little more variety to my ritual

I just got my RMA back with the new lid and the storage installed.

The new lid is an improvement over the original and seems like it'll be user serviceable. I expect he'll start selling the glass and spring as replacement parts.

I'm having some trouble getting the storage lid in place easily and removing it easily. Maybe it's some break in to make inserting it easier, but the removing I feel would be improved if the top side of the storage lid had a rougher surface to give better traction for removal.

Anyone else struggling with this?

The storage is nice. I estimate it'll hold 3-4 reloads in addition to what I load in the bowl. Maybe more if I really pack it in. That's enough for a nice long walk without having to tote along my grinder or MHreload. I'd just really like to make the lid easier to remove and replace after loading. The workflow is going to still take a little getting used to.

OK. I just took a walk and powered through a total of 5 bowls with a somewhat loose pack and I still have enough in the storage for at least two similarly packed bowls. That's pretty dang nice.

I'm still having trouble getting the storage lid in after loading the bowl. It catches on the lip of the final groove that the narrow part sets in. Maybe it'll wear in a bit and get to a cleaner set-in over time but it's a PITA for now. Perhaps mark can add a slight bezel to that groove. I'll email him about it.

Would you be willing/able to snap some pics of the new lid? Just curious how this looks/compares. Thanks (either way)

Yeah honestly I've never even tried super high temps anymore really, I think maybe early FW7 testing, but not needed at all with FW9, if you can get full extraction where you are and have a good range then there's no issue imo! I always consider settings relative
See I like using different temp settings to extract different active compounds depending on my mood.

It's running at a good temp, but I feel like it's running too hot at 300F. And I can't seem to set the temp below 300 (say 290F) - like it acts like it accepted the 290F and counts out the vibrations correctly. But then when I tape the button 3 times, it vibrates to 390F instead of 290F!

Oh well, I still like the vape, it's quickly become a regular vape in my lineup, I'm even publishing two new accessories this weekend for the Firewood X, with a few more in the works :-)

Yeah I just mean you need a range, you should be able to set it below 300, sounds like there is a glitch? Unless you are doing it wrong... I would temp step with mine, starting at the lowest, then milking the middle setting, maybe one hit at the highest... That was all below 400 though (I used to do what you described back in the day with session conduction style but not really with anything else, temp stepping is just more enjoyable, generally I don't run too hot regardless, yet still fully extract enough)

Don't suppose anyone knows if the tempest stem without the heat shield fits in the fatx? Need to replace the one I lost and if the stem fits without the heatshield, I'm tempted to grab a metal one this time.

Happy weekend! Hope you're all enjoying your sessions. 😄

I've been absolutely loving my Firewood 10 - it's quickly become my go to vaporizer. However, I found myself constantly worrying about keeping it safe and discreet during daily use. So, I whipped up a couple of accessories to enhance the Firewood 10 experience.

Firewood 10 Slim Case
First up, I've designed a slim, odor-tight case specifically tailored for the Firewood 10. This case offers robust protection while effectively containing any residual odors, making it perfect for on-the-go use or discreet storage at home. It's crafted to fit the Firewood 10 snugly, ensuring your device stays secure and shielded from everyday bumps and scratches.

(Anyone interested in a larger case with an extra storage compartment to hold a spare battery or longer stem? Let me know!)

Firewood 10 Loading Funnel
Additionally, I've made a loading funnel and stir aid that fits seamlessly over the Firewood 10's oven with a satisfying friction fit. This durable flexible tool simplifies the loading process, minimizing spills and waste, and doubles as a stir aid to ensure even vaporization of your material. It's a small addition that makes a big difference in the overall vaping experience.

As always, I'm open to other feedback and suggestions. If you have any ideas for other accessories or improvements, you'd like to see, drop me a line! I am also working on some new glass stems for the vape which should be available soon as well

Happy vaping! :science:

What I really want is a vape spittoon top for this and the FW9. I sometimes try to blow unload then in the normal vape spittoon and if the load doesn’t come out in a compressed puck it goes everywhere.

Some users report that their FATX can accidentally fire while in their pockets. If your slim case can help prevent that, then you should add that to the list of pros. Just my :2c:

Hmm, I haven't considered that. I typically use my tightvac debowler and rarely need to blow out the screen. But that's certainly something I can toss around and see if I can figure out something

I've actually thought about that! Right now the slim case is a simple flat surface which should prevent the accidental activation of the button by distributing the load across the surface.

In testing, I found it EXTREMELY hard to press the button through the case due to the layers material distributing the load. But after fiddling hard enough, I did feel it vibrate and trigger the vape.

So that's totally a valid concern. I'm going to go back and revise the design tomorrow morning to add a notch around the button placement ensuring there's no possible way to trigger the power button. I'll update the store listing info to reflect that change.

Thanks for the suggestion!

This is how I currently have to hold it to try and spit-unload with one hand. Would like a better top that would compensate for the FW9/X and still have a hole I can use with other vape stems.
Would be up for helping you design one.

Do you recall when you first reached out to Marc? Trying to get an idea of when I might get contacted for mine.

I must say the FAT X has quickly become one of my favorites. I love the compact size of it and the performance. I also enjoy the storage part as I can load a couple scoops of weed and go for a walk or go out and have enough for several bowls all in my vape. I have not had the issue of having it accidentally activate in my pocket or anything yet but can see that concern for sure.

Old & In the Way
Well damn maybe I should bug him again because my first email was Feb 12th and last email was Mar 9th. I’m just afraid of being a nuisance, but also don’t want to fall through the cracks.
If you've had no response at all, maybe for some odd reason your mails are going to his spam. Maybe try to find some alternate way of reaching him?
