Thanks for the order! I was planning on shipping it tomorrow, however I came up with a small last minute change over the weekend and I wanted to give you the choice to wait for that or get your order without the change.
The change is a small tweak to the bowl. I previously said that there would be a taper at the bottom of the bowl to make it easier to unload. I am now thinking it might be better not to have the taper. Basically the taper does seem to make it a little easier to empty however it also means that it uses a 3/8 inch screen instead of a 1/2" like the fw7 did. This seems to add a little bit of draw restriction and also makes the bowl a tiny bit smaller. In addition the screens don't fit as tight and can come loose initially.
I think the tapered bowl might be better for micro dosing, so that may be one reason to prefer the tapered bowl. Otherwise I'd recommend waiting for the un-tapered bowl, which I will be able to ship in a few days, and which will be the normal production version.
I choose the tapered. I enjoy microdosingWell it looks like the tapered bowl is no more. I just received this update from Marc regarding the FW X. I opted to wait for the change to be implemented.
One of the best parts about s&b portables is their tapered bowl that effortlessly ejects the spent poo
I don’t recall struggling to empty a fw9
I believe while supplies last if anything I would just get the accessories you need for the FW9 now lolExcited and will buy a fwx first chance I get once they are all settled with changes, but when new firewoods come out how quickly will he stop selling the fw9 and parts ? I kind of want a back up and some backup parts
I also went for the current version with the tapered bowl for micro dosing. Maybe if the draw is too restrictive like he mentioned, I’ll just open up more myself, or buy the final bowl replacement laterI choose the tapered. I enjoy microdosing
Do you think the 7 handles micro dosing better with less screen intake diameter? My thought is, from 3/8" to 1/2" screen size isn't a huge difference compared to the reduction at the stem adapter (speaking from 9 stem design)As far as ejecting goes (I have a 7 and 9), ejecting in almost any vape is easy when it's hot. If you come back later after it's cooled down, it laso doesn't seem to matter about the bowl shape, herb is gonna be stuck in the bowl, usually I end up reheating a little so I can easily blow or tap it out, depending on the vape.

Just got my shipment tracking!
Incorrect, at least according to the parts page on firewood’s site.FW7 uses the half inch screen size same as FW9 (no taper and same screen diameter)

3/8 listed as compatible with FW 6, 8, 9:
3/8" Stainless Steel Screens
Replacement Screens for Firewood 6, 8, and 9 (5 count). These screens are kiln fired to over 1000 degrees F to remove any manufacturing residues and ensure a perfectly clean taste from the start. They have a dark blue/black color which is a result of the firing process.firewoodaromatech.com
1/2 listed as compatible with 3, 4, 5, 7:

Yeah that’s how I read it too. The initial draft of the FWX had a 3/8” tapered oven, but the production model will be swapping to a 1/2” oven for better airflow like the 7 and for a more secure screen fit.I thought right above Marc said it was half inch, and 3/8 would restrict more? Also thought FW7 was the same but could be wrong clearly am I guess
Fwiw my 7 seems to have marginally better airflow than my 9, but difference seems slight. I think the biggest difference I notice is the FW9 has a larger air intake but is more sensitive to a tight pack or a poorly installed oven adapter, while the 7’s main restriction is the air holes up top. Entirely my subjective experience though, might just be my particular devices. And I'm also a little confused because people say how the FW8/9 have more airflow than FW7, but that could be opened up in the wood too so
In the capsuleWhere Is there a screen on the FW9? I’ve had mine completely apart and don’t remember a screen.

Your imagination is uplifting, but don't push the discussion to the extreme)) using capsules or adding a radio are different issues. After receiving Mark's last letter, I understand that any Fury/Xmax/Tm2/Dreamwood capsule will fit in a 1/2 cup, and the metal shell of the capsule will create the same conductive effect that is embedded in the FWX device. Yes, the advantages of ceramic heating will be lost, but due to the air gap between the ceramic and the capsule, FX can be used more efficiently (in my opinion) It's like an on-demand vape, because the capsule will cool down faster between puffs, unlike ceramics. So your idea of a radio is an absurd thing. And using capsules while maintaining the effect is real.I'll be honest, I've seen more than a few times here where someone wanted to take a vape, released or not, and suggested or started filing, sanding down, or cutting whole chunks off to incorporate some strange third party item (look now it has a clock/radio!). Small modifications are sometimes necessary, but I've seen what I judged as some pretty zany ones here.
I have NEVER understood it, but I admit it gives me a giggle or at least a head scratch sometimes. If you want to buy something, weld a cup to it, tape a tazer, wire in a CB radio and only use it standing on one hand juggling with your feet - MORE POWER TO YOU!
The hyper focus on wanting one particular and specific thing (Firewood X), but needing it to also incorporate another, separate function (capsules) is how we get new things and ideas.
I think what he means is that he'd like to be able to use the Firewood in session mode for easier passing around, which I can understand, but ultimately that's not really what the FW heater is designed for. People call it a battery-powered Dynavap for a reason, right? (Although if you ask me it's way more powerful than a DV)
I never knew that was removable! I’ve been cleaning them in the capsule. Do you push them out from the bottom?
