The air vape not tasty enough, the tiny might 2 over rated not a fan of the plastic in the mighty or crafty so replaced both with steel tops. It improved it a lot but for me this is my goto now. And I have 3 so running out of batt won't be an issue. Yeah they should redesign if with a 18650 removable batt, but apart from that I'd say they have it spot on.

I really feel like FF has thrown away an opportunity to be top dog of Battery convection portable scene. They’re so close.

- go to 18650, no going back to proprietary batt design

- redesign the lid machining to fit over the polished plate like… a lid. With a rim that the polished plate is machined to inset.

- The gasket could sit outside the polished plate, and could be pure silicone stamped/removable for easy cleaning. Think like head gasket seen on an engine block. It’d be outside the vapor path because of the inset of the polished plate.

- vapor channels with right angles or oxbows machined into the lid. Make a few vapor channel designs to sell as additional lids for customized cooling/airflow

- incorporate all that but with the 1940s/50s chrome and paint aesthetic that we had with firefly 1. Call it the Firefly Classic aka like a classic mustang or thunderbird.

- edit: and get rid of that hideous ‘Omega’ logo and LED, who’s stupid idea was that? The design is iconic enough.

I’d buy it. Probably dethrone my ALP as my regulated portable.

I’m a 72 year old fart and the finickiness of the Firefly doesn’t really bother me…it probably would be a different story if I vaped a lot more on the FF2+..I do think there is better airflow on the Firefly now…don’t really listen for that whistle anymore 😝 and as far as concentrates go the FF is the only vaporizer that can heat up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit with a fine tune adjustment to boot
What type of concentrate do you find that works well with a FF2+ that doesn't make a big mess in the vape? The stuff that melts like hash (turns to liquid and gets down inside) does not work well imo. Live Rosin seems the best that I've tried but it's expensive.

Flower rosin is what I’ve used in the FF2+ and it works very well…no big mess at all…I usually put a very small amount on the concentrate pad maybe the size of a grain of rice…do some cigar puffs to melt it in and I’m good to go…fortunately for me I have a rosin press and grow my own indoor and outdoor…so my expense is keepin my shit runnin…I recently purchased a pharmaceutical freeze dryer and some time this winter I’ll pull my fresh frozen indoor out of the freezer and make some live rosin…

Greetings, the Firefly was my very first vape after the Volcano YEARSSSSSSSSSSSS ago. LOL. I thought and still think that the Firefly is a thing of beauty. The way this looks to me...classy. I have the red and silver OG models still. Looking for the Black one...anyway, I cannot truly believe that this company did not proceed further into developing a better airflow. I know that customers have had this concern for years and the company made a small attempt to correct the difficulty one had in inhaling...it is hard for me now as a patient to have to...so gasping for air I am at the end of a hit. I feel like dying! I have tried all methods. My point is...are there no future corrections? I am so tired of writing to them over the years and no response or recognition...I was an AVID Firefly consumer...because I was so new to this world...I went on a search to study what else was out there in vape land. I discovered medical grade units of vapes that were safe and airflow freedom. At that point Firefly lost me as a customer...I super love the Firefly...I look upon my collection with fine memories. I hope one day I will see and discover that the FIREFLY company made radical improvements on the airflow...that would be mind blowing! The TASTE of the Firefly is truly award winning...

I feel the same, especially since my daily driver is the B1 from CH and the ZX. I tried my firefly 2 recently and was out of breath too. I heard the “+” made improvements but doubt yhey fixed it (or would be hearing more praise for this device), because flavor is excellent

I have all of the models…the 2+ is just as difficult…I’m sad about it. The company just turned away from improvements…the price drop also is an indication…

I believe I ruined my FF2+. It's way out of warranty and besides, I opened it up to clean it. I've used about three different concentrates in it, with the pads. I think I loaded up the pad too much. A lot of brown stuff got in around or through the screen. Looks like it got on the coil and the piece directly below the coil is brown in places and sticks to the coil when I lift it up. I haven't broken anything yet. It still heats up but I can't get good airflow at all. I've had it apart about 5 times trying to fix it. I paid $250 for it a couple of years ago and then paid for the upgrade to plus. I did notice better airflow, but using concentrates has been a problem. I'm trying soaking the screen in iso again. I can see through some of the middle holes but about half are totally clogged. Maybe it's time to buy a new one, but I'm not sure what I did wrong with the concentrate pads. Do a lot of people on this forum just use the FF2+ for flower? I think I used the wrong stuff (concentrate) and maybe used too much and it messed up the inside and maybe the coils.

your gonna have to take apart and soak the screen again, I can’t remember what I used, a piece of wire or pin or something (was a few years ago) but you’re gonna have to clear every hole

Flower rosin? Are you talking live rosin or something else? I haven't seen any concentrates labeled "flower rosin".

^^ This exactly. Particularly the last one. The original FF looked mint! The second one looked ok. The third one... with that stupid omega thing... looks awful. I expect the performance is pretty good, but I just can't get over that stupid stupid stupid design.

Also the 18650.... I loved my FF2, but the battery was a PITA. I had 2 cells, but didn't have a dedicated charger so I had to keep swappng them in and out.

Flower rosin is a thing…it is dried and cured flower put through a rosin press…flavor and buzz is excellent…the next step up is live rosin which is fresh frozen flower made into bubble hash then dried…ultimately freeze dried to save as much terps and cannabinoids as possible and then that dried hash put through the rosin press

Thanks for the answer. I saw one post on here where he/she said they used diabetic needle pen. It looks like the smallest one available is about 32 gauge. Do you know if that is small enough to go through the holes. I know you said it was long ago you did this

I honestly don’t remember although I probably used some multi strand wire that I unravelled and used just one single strand

CR250M - I'm glad you mentioned the multi-strand wire. I took my FF apart for about the 5th time in the last few days so I had the screen out. I found some stranded wire but the smallish strands I had didn't seem stiff enough.

I thought: you know what this reminds me of... the wire brush that FF sent with my FF2 kit. So I got it and put the screen on the end of my finger.. sort of twirled the brush over the screen and I could feel the individual strands going through the screen holes. When I checked it against the light it WAS cleaning it. Much better draw now. I guess I didn't ruin in. Don't know if I want to risk using concentrate in it again. Not sure what I did wrong. I know that when I had some hash sugar I may have overloaded the concentrate pad.

Seems like in my experience the shatter that I've had or the live rosin worked the best. I guess they all melt into the pad but some kinds of concentrate become very much liquid before they vaporize.

I heard people recommending using hemp fibers instead of these pads, can't recall in which thread tho. Kinda long shot that it'll solve that particular issue but I feel like it's worth mentioning :)
Have 0% concentrate experience myself btw.

On top of that, the mouthpiece has some really flimsy tabs that break easily. I loved the flavour of it, the fact that it relied heavily on an app that Apple banned on their App Store because of wanting to distance themselves from liquid vape health issues didn’t help either.

The liquid vape health issues kinda disappeared as of the present didn't they? Liability issues? I don't know, but wasn't that mainly a problem with vape cartridges. Some people, young people, died as I recall.

So I sold off some vapes when I fell into the dynaverse, angus, starry, firefly2, tm2, the only one I found myself missing was the firefly2+, every time I get a new strain I wanted to reach for FF2 for the cleanest flavor. Even though I'm not a fan of the capacitive buttons or proprietary battery, I just bought a replacement as my main strain taster!

Sucks that this happened but I'm kinda glad i saw it. I've had my eye on the firefly for years now and this seals it. I won't be getting a firefly.

I think there are lots of reasons to pass on the Firefly today, but the app is a wild one. I never even considered using it. It does not need it any that seems like it would be a real downgrade.

Does not surprise me that they are not keeping it up to date. I'm sure there is no one doing development at Firefly. It's fun but definitely a relic if its time.

But nothing else I've tried can beat the clean flavor you get from a wide flat glass vape path! Because of that I picked up a replacement for the 1 I sold and will likely get a back up unit in a different color instead of a spare battery, lid, mouthpiece when the closeouts get serious @<$100!

I was really hoping to be impressed by the Firefly flavor. It's good but it is not at the top for me. And the rest of the experience is awful. The touch sensors instead of buttons are a baffling choice. And the whole experience is like vaping out of a cell phone.

Back when the firefly was new, these were reasonable trade-offs, but now we have many full convection all glass devices, with much better heaters.

I think most of the appeal of the firefly is that it puts forward a low temperature experience. That's the key to the best flavor here. Although I don't think that they designed it that way on purpose. The heater is just a little slow and can be overpowered by a strong draw.

Anyway I am glad I picked one up, but I am also glad I didn't pay full price.

That is exactly how I felt with mine haha I rarely use it and when I do it's more tedious than enjoyable except there are some nice tasty hits at least... It was not really made for low temp originally, I remember my OG was set around 380, and then when it was replaced it seems they had increased the settings to be more like 400 or so... A lot did like that aspect of it and you get thicker hits, but then it is so easy to scorch lol
