Alan, Is your new 110v unit going to be UL tested and approved? And just to be clear, you are not using a 3prong grounded plug, right?
That is correct. Just a simple 2 prong lamp cord with the only two electrical connections shrink wrapped.Alan, Is your new 110v unit going to be UL tested and approved? And just to be clear, you are not using a 3prong grounded plug, right?
because a two prong is safe or because (you) 'chose to design to the least common denominator'? I'm just asking because I'm sure you've seen all the heat I'm taking for not using a 3-prong.That is correct. Just a simple 2 prong lamp cord with the only two electrical connections shrink wrapped.
That is all you need as well.
My 110v unit is going to be VL tested. Vaporwriter Laboratories. All the same requirements as UL but the testing is more fun.
Just because we don't have to abide by the UL standards doesn't mean that we shouldn't. Just do the right thing Andy.
That will only ground an appliance that has a ground wire, so no.As I will using a UK - USA step down transformer which will have a 3 prong plug on it does that mean I don't have to worry?
I'm going to ask that you and Andy take this up in a private conversation. We take safety seriously, but we also need to enforce our rules, including and especially the manufacturer rules. I had made a caveated exception earlier when this issue was unaccounted for, however it's clear now that this discussion between two competitors can't take place here if our rules are to be respected.I believe the 2 prong design is safe as long as there is no way for the electrical connections to come apart and that they are properly covered. If you want to use a 2 prong design, you just have to ensure that the wires can never get loose under any scenario. I am using butt splices to make the electrical connections. It allows for easy soldering and covers with heat shrink wrap very nicely.
That was 1 person , who got that from standing it on a metal surface i was told, i prefer this to the nano, the taste is miles better, its my number 1 vape!!Was the issue of electrical grounding ever resolved?

Andy sorry , 2 posts on trot but it wouldnt let me edit so there , dam just realised its at bottom oh well telling of for meWho told you that?
As reported to me it was 'i had a laptop computer on my lap, and the shock came from when i made contact with a grounded screw on the computer and the base of the epicvape'. There have been no other reported incidences of shocks with an EV-2 either to me or on this thread.Who told you that?

Alright will probably end up going with the E-nano since its the being recommended the most, thanks for the help manHello Highguy and welcome to the forum! The choice between the two of them is a hard decision. I have both and really enjoy the two. I would suggest the Nano though over the EV2, the nano is alot smaller than the EV2, about half the size. It also has the VV temp dial in the cord that allows you to adjust your temps to your desired range. The EV2 is a great vape for direct draw or you can use it with a whip which also works well. I dig the Nano due to the size, it fits really nice in the hand and works great with a water pipe. I hope I have been helpful and do hope you enjoy either of the two.
