Discontinued Elevape SV

max

Out to lunch
solid companies just sell their vape at their price and not less than half off retail and so forth..what does this mean?
If you mean the recent batch of 'returned to distributor' units sold by Darren at authorizedvaporizerdealer.com, you don't know that that was Elevape's decision or just a distributor's method of disposing of returns from retailers. The price certainly only applied to that particular batch of units, and when they were sold the $150 price went away.
the units seem to be inconsistent
Read the Firefly thread. It's been speculated that every single unit behaves slightly differently, yet the feedback on the model is also overwhelmingly positive.

Just my two cents..when I ordered the coils from joe I received 5..so I'm thinking he changed it to 4??

..and IMHO alot of smokers don't have time or patience for the esv..I do and I'm glad I did..I love it..but all in all I received 5 in my pack of coils...

In reverse order, I agree ESV is probably an especially bad fit for smokers trying to 'switch over', most I fear will find it's fiddly nature and 'lack of clouds I need' to be serious (even fatal) issues?

I'm sure happy for you you got 5 screens, either because it was the standard packaging earlier on of simply a bonus from the Maker (which seems in character given all the good things folks have to say about his helping them out as individuals). But I think the fact of the matter is today it's advertised as four, that's what I got (and I believe most others?) and it's all folks should expect?

Actually an Elevape is what one of my staunch smoker friends picked, one who used to believe vapes weren't as strong (and still smokes bongs/joints/etc) because of the power of pure convection and convenience of on demand vapor anywhere (plus all american made, and $150 blowout sale from VaporNation).

I find smokers can be good at hitting it quick if you tell them usually, he turns his up for a smoker and says just hit it hard and fast. The problem is when someone goes too slow, like you do with some other vapes. I just use my firefly with others now instead, and have the esv be my personal vape just to be safe

So am I guessing right. Lower temps inhale slower and higher temps inhale faster. I remember havING a pax and slow and steady won the race. What's the best way to draw and what temps are ideal. I hated the pax for the slow draw also is this a vape that can be used in colder windy condition.

slow and steady "sipping" draw.
kinda like your drinking a capri sun with the tiny little yellow straw..thats what my experience has been. i used the same tech on high and low settings..use my taste buds and smell to tell if its cooked all the way through.

This is NOTHING like the pax. Remove mouthpiece screen, you want zero draw restriction. Just a quick puff instead of constantly cooking. And you should always inhale quick imo, that is the way it is itneded to be used at least, so you could get full range. Someone on here got no combustion at 450F that way. Earlier on in the thread. Obviously draws differ and vary, mine always does, its just everyone's different basically. Its gonna take fiddling and such, I really recommend reading the whole thread

There is a new version of the app available. 2.1.1 for both Windows and Mac.

http://elevapesmart.eu/download

Am I reading this right, you download this new software and it (automatically?) changes the program in your ESV (firmware)? Meaning this is not really a change to the 'app' in the normal sense but will permanently change the programing in your ESV the first time you plug it in? Any idea of what this does to the operation of the ESV. TIA.

I highly doubt it automatically updates your firmware. As I read it there is new firmware available, and in order to use an app with the new firmware you need to update to app 2.1.1.

No idea how one gets the new firmware.

No idea how one gets the new firmware.

I suggest we get it by running the new app and plugging our units in. Like to recharge, check charge or change settings. This is what they say by way of explanation:

We released a new firmware version which is not pre-installed on our devices nad this required a support from the application side as well.

So I read this as two ideas. First there is new firmware which will evidently come with new units yet to be made but is not in existing units, which makes perfect sense since your ESV was programed long ago. Secondly, based on the assumption 'nad' is really a typo and S/B 'and', that change required a change ("support") from the (new) application. No mention of new features in the app. I assume if some substantial change like a new feature that would be mentioned?

That is I think the goal is to upgrade the firmware in the ESV and I don't expect the app to ask permission. Just check revision and upgrade if it's not the current (new) version. If so, there's no way back since the existing app is not set up to install/modify anything?

Not that that's a bad thing, I'm just wondering what's going on.

There is a separate app in the installation folder to flash new firmware, the main app (the one that sets temps) isn't capable of it.

Thanks. So the new app is necessary to change the software. Have you done it? Is it automatic or do you have to also run another program to change it, otherwise the new app gives no new options or other changes?

I think I'll hold off until I understand being both happy with the firmware that's running and having been 'bit' by automatic updates in Windows more than once.

It's not automatic. It's a completely manual process. The app change the firmware is in the Evelape program folder and called IPuffAdvancedControl.exe. There is no firmware with it. I assume you'd have to download the firmware separately or get it from Elevape directly.

i tried to copy and paste from iPuff's "new" website, but my iPad wouldn't paste it. Anyway, it says that the firmware CAN be updated by the app. I believe that happens if you set all 3 sliders to max temp, then connect the ESV to the computer via USB. Can anybody confirm this?

Unless you are actually in Europe, I wouldn't do the app update. If you are, go for it! :)

I have the newest app off the USA website, and there is nothing about an update that I can find.

is this the latest version for the U.S.? App link. I wanted to pre download so I'm ready to go when mine arrives. I didn't see the flash option that has been mentioned before with what I downloaded. T.I.A. Maybe I missed it due to the download wizard for windows?

There are no US and European versions of the app. It's the exact same vape in both regions. It just seems that the EU site is updated quicker.

As for firmware, read my post on it just a few posts above this one. It should be clear.

What should be clear? You said "I assume you'd have to download the firmware separately or get it from Elevape directly.".

What do we really know? There is new firmware, we don't know what that is, what it does nor have we been told to do anything specific to install it. There is a new app, the only reason given for it is there is new firmware that needs an updated app. It seems if you're not updating then the app has no other use? As far as we know the only physical way of doing that is through the USB link. Such things can be 'plug and play' and work automatically, this one might too?

To be clear, aside from putting the new app up, the maker has given no instructions (like 'please go download the new app because XXX'). And that much doesn't match US to EU sites? I'm thinking this is a 'work in process', I'm gonna wait for the other shoe to drop. If I should download the new app (or do anything else by way of upgrade to firmware) I'll standby for those instructions and hopefully some better understanding.

Thanks.

1) We know there is a new app.

2) We know the main app doesn't update the firmware. A separate app in the instillation folder does.

3) You need to download the firmware separately and add it to the update app.

4) We know that app 2.1.1 doesn't automatically magically update your firmware.

5) We know that for quite sometime that the EU site has had newer versions of the app.

6) We know that there are not separate EU and US versions of the Elevape. They are all the same and made in the US.

7) We know that there is a bunch of rampant speculation in this thread regarding the simple upgrade of the app and possible launch of new firmware.

8) Lastly, we know that if your Elevape is woking just fine there is no need to worry about upgrading your firmware, which, once again, must be done manually via a separate program from the main Elevape program.

This is what we know, and I know it from speaking with Joe directly.

Thanks. I think it's a bit unfair to say 'we know' when in fact it was only you who knew (having inside information from Joe, and you didn't really know until then?). Based on your assurance we now know more.

If you don't like speculation (rampant or otherwise) in the absence of solid, reliable information I think you're in the wrong place. IMO the exchange of ideas and opinions on vaping and various vapes is why we're here?

Thanks for confirming the details, especially the 'no need to upgrade', which we now know based on your assurance. For now I'll continue to pass.

sometimes i use my esv like a log vape... therefore i use the stem from my e-nano... it fits perfectly in the bowl of the esv... i also use the silicone ring which came with the stem around the stem for better sealing with the esv bowl...

i am also loading half the amount of herb in the stem then filling up the esv bowl and using it as intended...
