dry vapor reduces oxygen uptake in the lungs

the thc was activated just enough so that the finger hash was very potent. i don't know if only touching fresh cannabis flowers and an ultra racy electric eyes wide open buzz, accompanied by complete numbing in all joints of the body is a bad thing? i could be allergic and i don't know what a cart is btw. topicals are said to provide local pain relief whereas this went from my fingers to all my joints hence the reckless run afterwards

The finger hash would have been activated when you heated it up through smoking or vaping

No high from trimming its all in your head just placebo

i didn't get high from trimming, my whole body got numb from trimming and i felt like i did a bunch of coke (again, never tried it but imagine). it gave total body pain relief but no high. i grew three plants on the balcony with only 4 hours direct sun and each plant yielded over 6 ounces. each plant i trimmed gave me that effect so i had to space them out

Both myself and my wife (30+ year cannabis smokers) also experience irritation and a cough that is nothing like that of a cough from smoking. It's a violent, almost convulsive type cough similar to dry-heaving when throwing up, there is no wet phlegm and one almost feels as if they are going to cough their lungs inside out. We've tried many vape products, handheld to desktop, even experienced this using a friends Volcano.

Nutshell - pre-bake, low temps and water filtration.

We have experimented and have found the following to help, even though it is still not 100% irritant free.

Equipment: Arizer EQ + DDave 18mm mod (using bag instead of whip) + external water pipe filtration
Prep: 0.15g flower @ 100c for 20m - burn off everything that vaporizes below 100c
1st sesh: 165c, stir, fan speed #3 - fastest fill - almost zero irritation, slight throat peppering
2nd sesh: 180c, stir, fan speed #2 - fills slower, more milk than 1st sesh, results in a little bit of irritation - almost cough
3rd sesh: 195c, stir, fan speed #1 - fills very slow, near milk as 2nd sesh, some irritation, may cough but much more bearable

This at least alleviates me from coughing my lungs flat and I can do this as my daily routine now. My wife however can only do a couple sesh per day and goes back to smoking but she does feel this process is slowly working towards her being able to vape more frequently and eventually do it regularly without smoking at all.

Also, we are vaping Cannabis Cup winning herb, pretty sure it's not the flower (in which our collection also comes from many sources).

Just read in another thread this process could be a common transition for some people like myself and my wife where the vapor acts as an expectorant and until all the junk from smoking clears out, the cough and irritation can be a major hurdle to overcome. The suggestions is to allow a 2-3 week hiatus for the healing process to take place and the longer one is both smoking and vaping they prolong this process.

One thing I can say for my experience, I have not smoked in over a week and using the pre-burn-off method along with low temp vaping each day (approx. 4-5 sesh's) is better than the previous day which means I am making progress towards a much more comfortable vaping experience...and quicker sessions.

In my opinion and my experience, I think that it can be a problem of the condensation of the resin in its natural state (sticky) and causes dryness in the body. Since it is difficult to dilute.

It could have been a combination of touching buds and fresh terpenes. When I trim certain varieties (chem dawg) I wear a mask, and get nauseated if I don't or stay around it very long. It bothers me less after it's hung a day or more. Certain terpenes do that to me, so I avoid them.

After vaping exclusively since 2014, I've migrated to just eating my cannabis. I have asthma and scaring on my lungs so I have my reasons.

My lungs never felt better. No more coughing while catching a buzz, no more wheezing at night. No more carrying stinky weed or vapes.

I still miss vaping though, I think it's more psyhcological than anything else. It's a missing ritual in my life.

Hmm. I've been an endurance athlete for 25 years (mountain biking), and had the exact opposite experience. When I switched from smoking to vaping, almost straight away I noticed my breathing improved, I was less likely to "run out of breath". But my situation isn't the same as yours: I had only been smoking a few years, and had done the endurance sport much longer. Perhaps our lung condition is not the same and our bodies work differently. Theres many reasons why our experience could be different.

Remember that smoking is really just a crude vaporizer. Cannabanoids inside the cherry are destroyed by the high temperatures. Smoke doesn't get you high, the smoke is only a vehicle for cannabanoids to enter your lungs. Those cannabanoids that survive combustion and make it into your body, are coming from AROUND the cherry, not from the combustion zone.

Hot smoke leaving the combustion zone passes through green material, causing oils to become airborne (vaping, in other words). Radiant heat from the cherry warms the surrounding green material, causing the oils to become airborne, which are mixed with the smoke and carried to your lungs (again, vaping). The temperature of the smoke varies, depending on distance from cherry, but there is a section within vaporization range. When you smoke, you're getting vapor AND smoke mixed together, not just pure smoke. To think that smoking doesn't produce vapor, shows a lack of understanding of the physics involved.

To illustrate this, think about those guys who run their vapes HOT and often combust, and some users really enjoy that middle ground between vaping and smoking. I know a guy who heats up a quartz rod, and uses it to vape AND smoke the same bowl. First few hits are vapor, and then it changes to smoke. Surely you don't believe the vapor just suddenly stops at the exact moment that combustion happens? With all due respect, thats not how it works.

It's totally OK if you prefer smoking to vaping. But I think you're mistaken when it comes to interpreting your bodies reaction.

Sorry to interrupt, but enjoyed reading @bleak 's post above

bleak be an OG, saw Jerry Stickstones wearing a vintage Bleak T-shirt

Had to repost this bleak Americas visit vid. Great stuff, vid/music/vape !! Turn it up

after smoking weed for almost 30 years i recently bought a vape which i had been using for about 2 months. however, my problems with vaping were as plain as day from the first time i tried it (pre-exercise, read on) and i did not want to accept it but i eventually had to listen to what my body was telling me and return to smoking cannabis. i really did enjoy the vape high also ; (

i became an endurance athlete in the course of less than a year in 2019/2020, and every time i exercise i smoke a small amount of weed first (i also smoke weed other times of day, particularly after exercise to repair/rest). the vape i got was a grindhouse shift, and i used it as intended and kept it clean

from the first time i tried to vape before exercise, and every time after that, it was immediately clear to me that it was shutting my lung function down and i all of a sudden was clawing my way through my exercise routines, my body very subtly did not get enough oxygen and towards the middle of the routine felt almost in pain due to lack of oxygen. switching back to smoking before exercise solved this. and as much as i wanted to like vaping, every time it was the same result, my body was so out of oxygen mid-routine it was borderline painful to try to pull through. it was subtle, as in no panting or wheezing or mucus, but the struggle to get enough energy was brutal

the other times i vaped during the day also left me slightly struggling to breath thereafter. there was no mucus production from vaping, which is a mistake to have thought was a good thing, because when i smoke i breath much clearer after, and my mucus is functioning healthily, bringing things up from my lungs

no matter how much i tried to tell people on vapor reddit, i was laughed at and down voted and eventually kicked off. there are also a few threads here about it but they are 10 plus years ago

my wish is they develop a vape that can infuse the vapor with a large amount of humidity, enough to counter this problem, but this seems a ways off if it is even possible. vaping is still a new technology that we don't have enough life-long vapers to study yet, but what i have read says the cilia damaged by the dry vapor(?) will grow back if vaping is stopped, and should take a few weeks, thank goodness
I would imagine smoking weed vs vaping it would be far worse on your lungs in terms of oxygen. You are getting all that some in there and other carcinogenics.

I've been cautious because of breathing issues in the past but haven't run into this yet

I wonder if its the type of cannabis your using? Or the device itself. ( one device can cause a different experience than another)

Vaping would dehydrate you more then smoking making you dehydrated causing your issues. Try drinking an extra glass of water after vaping to help elevate dehydration which would thicken your blood causing the oxygen carrying red blood cells to find it harder to pump oxygen to all your muscles as efficiently as it would if you were properly hydrated. Vaping definitely makes you need to drink more water.
