heat dissipates too quickly but once I can get some boro balls we may be in business. I’m thinking of housing it in a splinter z body... but that’s down the road.

I had a few concepts for my vape using a ceramic rod heater: IMO the issue I see with this is your heater is not going to make much contact within the actual air path which is going to make for a small “hot zone.”

First of all ,not all ceramic elements are equal i have tried a bunch ,also examined the elements used in vaporizers. Stay away from the yellow and the brittle types. Adding glass cover and balls will increase the mass exponentially,so there will be more heat transfered to the body. You dont want ciruit boards or plastic anywhere near it.
I advise you to just buy the Herb-Iron with a vape attachment. I really miss mine,i prefered it over the DBV.
There are also 220v on the site.
The vape-attachment works with most bowls, but they also have a one special made for it,which i recommend :).
Thing that i dislike the most about ceramic vapes ,is how enviromental dust combusts in contact with the red hot ceramics.. After a while you get a buildup which cannot be removed.

Thanks again! I am going to order these parts now actually.

additionally, There is also a deal on their site for 15% off a basic elev8r and wpa.
No problem. I am excited to see what you end up making. I actually have the elev8r and would highly recommend it if you don’t mind using a big torch. I actually think it is the heaviest hitting vape out for the money

Ended up actually buying one with the order lol very excited to try it.
In regards to the project... until those arrive I got the sterilization beads from amazon, and reassembled a modified prototype.
Calling it officially:

Once I get a few things lined out I’ll pull out the dremel for tighter fits

That Is awesome. How powerful is it? Is there potential to combust with this?
Thanks! For a prototype it’s really working well but Can definitely combust, especially if the unit is preheated too high. Still trying to figure out where on the dial is perfect.
As of right now I’d say the biggest functional issue is that the airflow cools it after a draw fairly fast. You get a BIG rip but need to sit back a minute between draws. My guess is this is mostly due to the large inlet- May take a piece of cork and slightly restrict the size. Maybe doing this will allow me to keep the dial at a lower temperature, reducing risk of combustion.
Definitely. 100%. Medicated. :smug: The combustion probably amplified... still got some stuff to work out, but overall very happy with the proof of concept.

@DocAnchovy Haha that looks dangerous, lol. I suggest you try somehow to insulate the heater from the airpath. Also plastic and ducktape should be no where near hot areas. Hope you manage to figure out how to bring more purity ot the concept, check thermometer adapters,it is how GlassSymphony heater is separated. Good luck !

Haha you are correct.. it’s only electrical tape for now. The heat stays in the glass for the most part. Everything else is able to be handled.
Awaiting some parts from elev8 that should really upgrade the performance and aesthetics. @510710vape ’s suggestions should be here whenever shipping goes down lol:

I got the LSLV working with 2.5mm beads
At 300C it takes 1 or 2 draws to fully extract from a top hat gauze in an RBT stem now :science::rockon:

I think I'm done tinkering with the Elev8R, 16mm coil and beads setup too
After much scientific testing I've come to the conclusion it works best filled with 3mm beads up to the top spike so there's a gap at the top for the airflow :science::tup:

thank you, you’re contribution to the scientific field will not go unnoticed! I was considering filling the elev8r with beads once I get it, now I definitely will be lol.

Additionally I’ve landed on my final prototype for this form factor until some new parts arrive / I can work on a wood enclosure design that would be “modular” but still plugged in.

Here is a link to my recent modification, deciding to use a second bowl and bring the heating wand in when desired. Posted on insta and think that’s the best way to share videos, as Imgur is taking forever due to video quality.
(If we’re friends on Instagram you’ve probably seen this already)
Link 1: Quick overview and first hit
Link 2: Checking temps and second hit

This is due to advice shared in here... thank you guys.. I have some projects working in the rbtopensource forum, and will be messing with that for a bit before returning to this build once parts begin arriving.
Please keep sharing your builds, the motivation is awesome! 🔥🔥

been fairly busy lately, but some parts arrived and a rough design is in progress. Planning to disassemble the blue handle and remount the internals in a manner similar to the sketch shown. Still bouncing ideas around,if anyone has Ideas for a nice base setup.

You know, I thought the same as you about the plastic needing some insulation, but as you saw in my prototype, I 3d printed the box in Pla and it is just insulated with a piece of high temp silicone hose, I left it on all day and the plastic doesn't even got warm.

Awesome! How long is that piece of hose in addition to the half inch seen above the base?

I'm planning to use a spare project box I have just to house the wires and electronics, with an attached nice piece of cherry or walnut on the top. I imagine the wood will keep it cool enough, now I believe I'll place a silicone tube as you have. Thank you!

Just another half inch

I'm trying to get the box to be made in wood in a cnc, I hope I can get it at a reasonable price.
BTW if you want I can send you the box and the bottom STL file.

Thank you @Fosil ! I’m curious what kind of quotes you get for cnc, that would be very cool. I personally don’t use a 3D printer but thank you! Maybe I will get one sooner than later lol

Looking great! Keep up the work!
BTW, can you give me the measures of the ssv glass? I'm on my second one (will be ready tomorrow) and I like to know if it is similar or not.
Thanks anyway!

Thank you :science: The inner tube at base is about 10.2 mm for the metal fitting, exterior of base is about 16.
Entire glass piece about 62mm tall. It was purchased from the link posted above from elev8 glass and is a replacement for da Buddha vape.

That is looking awesome brother! How’s it hitting? Does it have enough power?
It’s hitting hitting! Lol Without the boro beads it was functional, but requires finesse with your draw. Now with the boro beads it’s 0-100 as soon as you insert and draw. Went overboard too early testing it out. I’ll gather thoughts and details for build and post shortly. Videos of action on insta.

Went wrong again then, mines are 12mm OD 9.52 ID, 8cm long, first model is 14mm female and the second one 18 female so the wand is bigger at 18 male and 15mm OD, I'll post once I get it.

Really nice first rip! Try rotating the wand while ripping, and stir in between.
Is that a 12v or 220v heating element? And it is at full load?
Thanks and looking great!
