You know, I haven't tried it on wattage on my mods. Just TC.
It's hard for me to tell a difference between the pen mod and TC, because the cup heats up so quickly and delivers so much vapor.
However, as a general rule, TC will make your components last longer.
Lightning Pen is a beast for the pen format

It's a shame there don't appear to be any black versions of the Lightning Pen available stateside. Anyone have a compelling reason I should talk myself out of waiting for a black version, and just go with the SS (i.e. looks great in person, less susceptible to scratches or fingerprints, etc.)?

Because if you close your eyes with the SS one in your lips… you’ll get medicated and won’t care….
I’m a big fan and buyer of BLACK, and usually end up paying more… but seeing as the LP is inexpensive, and has a non replaceable battery, its life has a limit. Start enjoying the SS pen now, and if you like it enough, maybe a black version down the road. Enjoy, life is stupid short…
I have tried a puffco plus clone and it was shite
I haven't tried a real one, but people I've asked don't give great reports
This thing is amazing for a pen format
Thick clouds for days from a small amount and tastes good
Easy af to clean
For $60 I'm super impressed with this thing

I've owned several pens including the Plus and the LP beats out all of them.
I like the idea of this, but I've never used a device with that short of a vapor path that I found particularly comfortable (I find they are all "too hot" in the mouth/throat)
And if you have to add a big extension for cooling, then all the "pocketability"/convenience is gone. (why I've stuck to full spectrum carts for the most part when I have to ... and my Firewood7 is a good vape to have kicking around in a pocket with a little herb as well)

I plan on using it with the built in 14mm connection and a hydratube, but I understand that all our needs are different as I don't vape outside my home. This would be like using a Proxy on my balcony.

I just picked up a pair of black pens from discount enails dot com - shipped the day after I ordered (came from a Minnesota address). In my experience all the websites selling crossing products seem to have pretty good service, I assumed they were all drop shipping from the same US warehouse.
I can report the black version looks much cooler, but performs the same as the ss.

I need some help with my new Lightning Pen. I've not gotten much in the way of clouds yet, and I was looking more closely at the pen. I noticed that there is concentrate around the screws that hold the oven in, and when I did a burn off, all the smoke was coming from around and under the cup, not the cup. Is it possible that the concentrate is leaking from the cup and into the device? I've only ever put an extremely tiny amount in each time, and like I said, I'm not getting much if any clouds. Still feel the medicinal, but not as much as I would expect for the amount I put in. So I assume either it's cracked, or I'm doing something very wrong.
I'm definitely using smaller dabs than in the last picture posted with the black LP.

I've had very small amounts splash out of the cup but nothing big. I slowly draw without making much contact with the mouthpiece and kind of hover above so as not to make a seal. If you're drawing fast and on top of that making a seal I could see it making the airpath somewhat turbulent and hence splashing.

Are you using a bubbler or native? With a bubbler I find I get better results because I can adjust my draw speed based on the vapor. Some splash is inevitable I’ve found, but I’ve been able to milk most full size glass I’ve tried using the LP with a whip.

I have used it with a bubbler (hydrotube style) and native. I think I have it figured out now. Not closing my lips over the top seems to work best. I mostly now use a glass tube (from a one hitter) over the mouth hole without enclosing it, and I can breath in however fast I like and since it's pulling in air from more than just the inside of the LP, it doesn't seem to cause much splashing. I think it would have been good for them to have a "getting started" video to explain this to people, but now that it's working, damn this thing hits some crazy clouds and intense extraction for such tiny dabs.
Mine is brand new, so I don't personally know, but I was told by many people who've had it for a while that if you always clean it after each session, it should last you a year or more. The Divine Tribe discord has instructions with pictures on how to replace the cup. I took it apart to clean it due to so much splashing out of the cup while I was learning how to use it. It was very easy to take out the cup and put it in.

I even tried changing the cup thinking the old one was too dirty but I get the same results.
Is the pen temp controlled or just wattage?
What setting range can the rda be used at safely? I have a mod that this fires on I just don't want to break the heater.
I don't use very much wax at all, tiny little scoop that I smear on the sides of inside of cup. mine just doesn't get hot enough to burn everything off, it did great the first month but now its not getting hot as when I first purchased. I tried changing to a new cup but that didn't improve it.

If you decide to use this on a normal mod device, There are two options. One is just using wattage mode, and I’d say 22 watts is about level 1 on the pen, 24 watts is level 2, nad 26 watts is like level 3. The other option is to run this in TC (Temperature Control) Mode. Set the mod for TCR 130 at roughly 25 watts, and 420 F. The temperature can be adjusted to increase or decrease the heat applied, but I’d recommend staying under 26 watts.
