You might even be able to set the dcup to a really low temp so it melts but doesn’t boil the concentrate, crank the vrod/weedeater a bit and convection dab off obsidian/sapphire (assuming the hot air path gets close enough to the bottom of the dish).

Just chiming in with some results. I decided to try 552F and saw I had some smaller Ruby Terp pearls around the house , not the 6mm size I got from NV but I believe the ones I had were 3mm-4mm so for testing purposes I put them in my Sic dish at that temp and noticed they spin with less effort. I got some really nice dabs using them at that temp. A few hits in and I could not go anymore LoL . Until next time but if anyone has smaller pearls around , give it a go as I was very happy.

Interesting. That makes sense now you posted it. The SiC balls took a little effort to spin, and I was thinking of going for bigger balls on my next purchase (https://www.neuticles.com :) )

I will revise that decision. Thanks!

LMAO well if you are going with bigger balls that link you posted may not be the right choice haha , try some small ball's . You may enjoy them more than you think . :worms::doh:

I'm still on the fence about this. I love the VROD so much, love twaxing, and don't want to have 2 heads running or have to switch constantly.

One of these days.

Yeah that sounds like a decision made really :)

The only thing I can say that might tempt you is the option for much lower temps for dabbing, and the Obsidian dish most definitely has improved flavour. I am yet to try sapphire.

EDIT: Replacement Obsidian dish just left Heathrow! Might buy sapphire next week...

For the hell of it, Im going to try a Storz and Bickel Crafty liquid pad in the Dcup today.

I figure anyone thinking about trying a dcup, or wanting to save money until they can afford the dish, could find this shit useful? Same with my OGFP SiC dish use (which works REALLY well btw!)

Also, Im just wondering if its gonna work, and I dont own a crafty so... :D

EDIT: Works fine at 730f if anyone finds themselves without a dish :)

Sorry I hadn't answered back.
Still dealing with it.
I tried the 225F warm up, and poking through the hole at the back, with no results.
Caked, as it was born there.
I'm going to buy more ISO, set a double boiler, with Cup in it, and try again.
Luckily I have 2x VRODs to pace me down, but they can't compare, to the results I get from the D-Cup.
Overall, D-Cup, with just the SiC dish and balls, it's another level up, from the VROD.
Stay vaped.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting to hear. The following may help...

In the interest of hoping to learn something, and because I have my OGFP SiC dish in my DCup body, and because I have a new Obsidian dish arriving tomorrow, I thought I'd take one for the team...

I just tried taking the coil nut out with pliers immediately after turning the unit of (so while everything is still hot at a 580f setting) and removing the coil. Then, with the SiC dish still in, I just torched the bottom of the DCup main body. No sign of any ill effect.

I also just checked SiC thermal limits... 1600c

My kitchen style torch lighter is rated for up to around 1300c.

Torching the bottom of the DCup shouldnt effect the SiC dish at all (directly torching it with a correctly rated torch should be fine but I dont think that will be necessary and Im not gonna advise that certainly, hell im not advising any of this but it does seem to be ok.) and you dont need to torch it aggressively, just enough to carbon enough of the reclaim to make it brittle enough to move. The rest is up to your risk level and gravity :)

Whatever you decide, good luck! :)

EDIT: Everything back together, SiC dish survived quite a hefty, very direct torching with the same kitchen torch lighter without any Ti in the way. Seems fine. Make of that what you will.
