greetings my friends
your old friend the midnight rider is back. it's been a while since i've talked to any of you good folks on here, have been working my cajones off the last 3 years working on some bucket list projects which finally came to fruition and for that i am extremely grateful.
have been lurking though and trying to keep up with all the advances in vapes, my head spun trying to decide between a pax, dv, solo... or other ... for a portable.
got a sweet deal on a davinci karma and read up on it on this forum...liked the design, ability to use while recharging and decent battery life. i have the version 2 with sweet swing out lid and magnetic closure. the recharging meter goes and goes like some others have reported but it will eventually attain and show full a charge when you leave it plugged in long enough.
was heartbroken to see that it was offgassing every time i did an empty chamber burn-in though. figured out it was coming from the silicone seal at the top of the heating chamber. it appeared the seal was partially torn, maybe from being installed with a hook or tool that ripped it a bit...could this exposed inner part of the seal be different and uncured compared to the outer seal?
in any case i figured that seal had to go. most level headed guys would have sent it back and waited for a replacement. this was the third try already for me, had just gotten and returned 2 other vapes from a different maker and was not going to wait for another.
being the least unhandy person in the world but always willing to learn i dived in. the screws that hold the case together were hidden under rubber plugs, a sturdy safety pin slid in halfway down and pushed to the side to bite in and each were withdrawn easily. the screws themselved were tricky as the driver slipped often and at least one screw was partially stripped but i got them out and they were still ok to get it back together.
i should have taken pics when i was inside but didn't want to muck about any more than i had to, it was short work to pop off the silicone seal over the heating chamber and get the patient sewed back up.
first and subsequent dry burns showed no more offgassing so that had to be it.
anyway after this long-winded story what i was wondering is if there is any danger in running it without the seal? if so maybe i can get dv to sell or provide me one? i don't even want to bother the vendor, a great seller on here you all approve of, he was so super in dealing with my problems with the two other vapes...
so @
OF and you other guys that know your shit, any hazard in running the dv without the seal?
it still works great without it, sometimes a tiny bit of vapor leak but not much
thanks and hats off the best community/forum on the web you guys and gals are all tops
God bless
