I read the tone of this as cranky, Sorry, I wasn't trying to push your buttons or anything.NO. I will take action against anybody infringing my patent. Stop trying to get other glassblowers involved...and in trouble.
That's one of Apple's crutches. It reminds me of a business concept I can't remember the name of now, but it's just patenting any shit you can, with no intention of using it, purely to stop your competitors doing it.
I

I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, that was one of the main reasons I asked about the patent pending thing earlier, and why I am no longer planning on getting that blower to make those pieces.
Wow.Cranky....ah, yes. Y'know... If I'd put as much effort into kicking the legs out from under your livelihood and saddling you with that pleasant warm glow that comes from hiring a lawyer to protect your interests as you have put into doing that to me, you might just be a little cranky if I came around asking for a favor that is against your standard operating procedures.
You have not scored any brownie points for your large quantity of ill informed posts/pushed buttons that were clearly not respectful of my intellectual property. That was really not a good strategy for having any special request taken seriously. Please make a note of that for future reference.
IMO, this is a very bad idea. Not as bad as ice water in the can, but you are killing flavor, payload, and increasing reclaim. Room temp or warmer water works best. I can explain if necessary.
Wait until he finishes reading through this thread....

You know... you're insulting probably your biggest fan on this site. In fact, the majority of sales you've gotten off this site ARE BECAUSE OF FREDERICK (which aren't anything to lightly dismiss, other potential customers ARE watching). Man, when your piece came out, he lost ALL interest in anything, not including the initials DG. He jumped through hoops, to make sure he had one before anyone else. Since then, he has spent that time, singing its praises.
I don't expect anything special, but I don't expect to be attacked for honest inquiries.I hate the mentality of, " I bought your product and posted on the interwebs about it, ZOMG! I am biggest fan, I deserve something special for that."
No, it wasn't.Actually Fredericks 1st response were regarding how to have somebody else copy DG's design
It was about applications for fritted discs outside of as a diffuser. (specifically as a screen in a LSV WPA - though I did start looking into the prospect of other blowers making other fritter stuff VERY soon after that. As far as I knew, I had a snowballs chance in hell of contacting DG to get some little custom LSV adapters, so I looked into another blower...)I wonder how hard it would be for another blower to produce fritted disc stuff?
I think it'd be the perfect thing to replace the screen/ice pinches in a LSV WPA
Sir, with all respect, who gives a shit who bought the first bong from this guy,With all due respect BDV, MarcellusWiley brought the attention to the Fritters and DG. How you figure Frederick is responsible for "the majority of sales" off this site is just fuckinridiculous. And he wasn't jumping thru hoops to be first, Marcelluswiley was first. What hoops did he jump thru? Call or email NVS and or ALT, and buy one, what effin hoops were in that process? Actually Fredericks 1st response were regarding how to have somebody else copy DG's design. If you like it that much, buy it from somewhere where the artist gets paid for it. Not go backdoor and have some local yokels to try and reproduce DG 's work.
I am sure DG is excited that his work is getting some new found attention, but what does he owe Frederick? Or any of us who bought his work. I bought a DG Mini from NVS and am really happy with it, but I don't think DG is bound to treat me some special way because of it. I hate the mentality of, " I bought your product and posted on the interwebs about it, ZOMG! I am biggest fan, I deserve something special for that."
DG thanks for joining our forum and participating.
But if you are good enough you'll never will have to worry about your job.I think we gotta realize were a gauntlet here at FC, and manufacturers really get put through the ringer sometimes.
Sometimes they run, sometimes they don't.
With that said, I would be typing just as "cranky"of not more, if I spent all day talking about other people doing my job for half price, and probably doing a hack job. I thought roosters first response was enough to know that his patent is very important to him.
Let alone bobs "he takes his patent very seriously" was fair warning. Try asking any company if you can copy their stuff...
No one is going to give ya hugs and kisses, they'd be just as "cranky"
PM sent Fred, hope i was clear and not attacking. glad you got ur piece of sale! any color in your fritt?@Bob
If that was to me, please shoot me a PM
I must be too close to my side to see what you're saying there
EDIT:
On a slightly happier note:
I just got an e-mail back from NVS, they missed my e-mail during the 7/10 craziness, but they are still gonna let me have it for the special price since I did actually try to get it on 7/10
14" convertible here I come
I am done posting on this topic, and hope other's do the same, or make a separate thread to discuss patents. But if you are good enough you'll never will have to worry about your job.
Everybody tries to emulate or reach Mercedes Benz or Ferrari status and technology, yes they made, maybe even upgraded for better, everybody can have the copy, but not the real deal IMO, you got the tech but not the name that brings Ferrari.
Besides, how will he would stock the whole world with Roosters if he don't relay in secondary hands to blow with him. Bye bye original, would be a DG apprentice or payer of his patent. Makes sense.
Bye bye artist, welcome bigger business
Sir, with all respect, who gives a shit who bought the first bong from this guy,
If Marcellus or Fredrerick. The point here is other. So if you don't know what are you talking about or posting about, I'll suggest you to read what they were discussing here before. Thanks Silver Surfer.
