I am not sure how people worry about combusting. I use Daisy almost daily and never combust. Maybe try a smaller flame, or starting high and slowly lowering the lighter towards the tube and stopping once you feel or see vapor. A faster draw could help too.
And also stir! It's pure convection so hot spots will occur. A stir or a tap to the side to shuffle the load will improve your session
Ok, been abusing Daisy for the past few days. Took a couple of days to get the hang of. I managed to proper combust the first time round, and a couple of times after that I got a little combustion. After a while I learned the best placement of the flame and how to draw (whistling!), now it works beautifully. I get massive clouds from a small bit of material.
I love how instant it is- I've been hitting it while waiting for the MiniVap to heat up. I'm still getting a very woody taste, but I guess that will wear off. The whole thing feels and tastes very organic. I like it a lot!
Bad points- I don't like the wooden mouthpiece, I took that off after the first go. I feel like you get more 'purchase' on the air flow without, plus you can actually see the vapour in the glass mouthpiece. You need a steady supply of butane as well- I emptied a lighter in no time. And although I feel like I've got the hang of it without combusting, there's a very real danger that if I'm a bit careless it might combust. Also some instructions would be nice.
All in all, it's an excellent vape, very well made- love all the thought that has gone into the design and the way the magnets make it impossible to put together incorrectly. I'm impressed by how much you can get out off a small amount of material. I don't know a lot about butane vapes but I don't see how they could be any better than this.
Back from a nice weekend with my new Daisy and my other vape, Crafty. WOW the Daisy is a big hitter! Yes, even with small amounts. I barely covered the screen with my herbs and still got 2-3 nice hits and big clouds. This is the real deal.
I also had similar experiences as Alan Partridge (quoted above). First time I used it I combusted a little (oops, I hate to admit, I kinda enjoyed it). I've been vaping for a little over a month now, so the urge to combust is still there (but definitely diminishing). I also did not care for the wooden mouthpiece and took it off. I think it works better that way, and I also reversed the end of the glass mouth intake tube so the short side goes into the wood block. I can see better this way.
The Daisy is very well made, and the magnets hold it tight. It looks very simple, but well thought out. I'm really enjoying this vape. I have no problems with using my butane lighter with it, it's still full. I know when the material is cashed because the herb flavor goes away and you get a woody, beeswax taste. If I could find mint flavored beeswax.
I was trying to do a test between the Daisy and Crafty, to see which one gets you medicated faster or better, but after taking some hits with either one, I was too ripped to even care. My conclusion is they both work great. But each one does give you a slightly different experience. Variety is the spice of life.
Well done Triihouse, great vape!!!!!
This is the real deal.
Removed the short metal tube joining the two halves. (Magnets are strong enough.)
That's a new one on me.
Will have to try that out.
Seems like it makes the draw a bit more open and woody.
IMO the major source of combustion is having too large a flame and pointing it too far down the hole, either because you are new and dialing it in or too medicated to pay attention until the combustion happens.
I'm sitting in the middle of a swamp in Florida and vape mainly in a screened room/patio and don't see humidity affecting performance on torches
