all the herb is dark brown but none of them are black... am i not combusting?

No, you are not combusting. Nothing turned to ash right? Nothing went black? Turn the heat down! Not all the cannabinoids vape at the same temperature. And of course your room will smell, you're using the highest setting... vaporizers will smell unless you completely absorb all of the vapor and have your stuff in a completely enclosed box. Maybe drop the temp and try those out?

Quetzalcoatl,
yeah nothing no ash no black, but I use max setting so I can take 1 second draw (the fast pull) but there will be alot of vapor, like I just hit a bong or something, the vapor is alot but it disappears rather quickly, does not linger around or anything, but it smells :D

I dont know, maybe im not patient with slow drawing :(

but im not combusting, max setting might be fun maybe... maybe not :p

asking help for my new DBV (Merged)

I leave it on max setting for 10 minutes so its fully heated up, ok now.. I take a fast draw for 1 second and pull the wand out...

I get alot of vapor out... and I do this untill nothing comes out and all the herb is dark brown but none of them are black... am i not combusting? my room smells though after...

MAX TEMP + Fast pull for 1 second

but lots of vapor!

i dont think im combusting cuz the herb isnt black is this a good idea to keep doing??

Not combusting but wasting - the best part of vaporizing is maximizing the medicinal content of your weed - creep up, start at like 11 O'clock on the dial and work your way up until you've toasted your bud evenly. IMO what your doing is the same as lighting a joint with a blow torch - it works but really not necessary..

Yeah, I agree. 87, you seem intent on coming as close to smoking as you can get, and just as you waste bud when you hold a torch to a bowl, just so you can 'one hit' it, starting a vape session at the highest temp is doing the same. You'll get more of your money's worth from your herb if you start at a lower temp and move up a step at a time. I think you'll find that slightly different effects are available at different temps, and vapor is much smoother and more tasty at lower temps.

This is the same way I used to hit my da buddha. The fast pull cools it down enough and you get more vapor quicker. I used to do this because I hated having to pull so slowly when it was turned down. So I turned it up and just pulled harder. Seemed to work for me as well.

EDIT: just saw the posts above and that isn't the case. I actually get lighter ABV when I crank it and pull really fast. But, I get alot of vapor alot easier and it helps with the learning curve when I let friends use my Da Buddha.

Hey, might someone be so kind as to remind me the ID and OD(inner and outer diameter) size of the tubing that is included with the DBV? Thanks guys :)

I can't use it for 3-4 days so I wanted to ask if anyone has tips, tricks, or general things I should do. Haven't been using THC for long time, and new to vaping.

Here's what I've been able to glean online:

1) Turn it on the highest settings for 20 minutes to take off factory oils.

2) Grind super fine.

3) Start at noon (heat setting) and turn it up if it's not turning brown at all and turn it down if its getting used up way too fast.

That's about all I know about it.

Noon works well, as far as the grind I have never had an issue with a medium grind as with the power of the Buddha fine might roast a bit quicker as you raise the temp throughout your session. I also have had a few 7th Floor products and IMO have never had to do a burn-off, however - doing one wouldn't hurt the unit or cause any problems.

I find that super fine grinds will clog your screen faster. A medium grind is perfect IMO for the DBV. A stir between hits will ensure that you get a nice and even roast.

I generally start at a lower temp, at 9 or 10 to get a cleaner hit, then work my way up, but temperature is a personal preference. Experiment and see what works best for you. Grind can be medium rather than fine.

Thanks for all the advice! How do I know when it's over? I'm used to smoking and it's pretty obvious when there's no more plant matter left lol.

Hi everyone!

I always end up searching the FC forums for those pearls of wisdom on how to master our vapes. Vitolo posts on the MFLB thread made my decision to get one after I read all the tips on how to get hits and he most out of your mflb with the PA.

But I always wanted to try to something stronger as my first vape was VaporBros but was never satisfied as it requeired a lot of material to get the job done. So i purchased my Da Buddha Vaporizer from a local headshop 40 miles where Im at.

So far so good, enjoying those huge hits and the stoned feeling I missed with the lighter hits of my mflb and VaporBros.

Only question been cracking up my mind since I got it, to avoid stressing the heating element or the unit to malfunction, should I leave the vape on if I will be vaping through the day at what setting, low temp, medium temp?, should I turn it off if at all?

Im pretty pleased with my DBV on my first day, the only thing is that idk if I should turn it off to sleep or if Im leaving it too long on my selected resting temp setting(12'o clock) when Im not gonna be using it for the next 50 mins or until the high wears off.

I just turn it off. It heats up so quickly that I don't feel the need to keep it on.

When I used my Da buddha to limit stress on the knob I just turned it all the way down but not off. But otherwise I would keep my da buddha on 24/7

My first vape was a VaporBros which is a quite similar concept to DBV, and it was advised to leave the unit on at a low temp to avoid stress on heating element, as turning the vape on and off repeatedly would put the most stress on the element wearing it off quicker. Also I read from 7th Floor that they have kept one of the testing model running 24/7 for years but never specifies if they turn down all the heat down or leave it warm.

When I used my Da buddha to limit stress on the knob I just turned it all the way down but not off. But otherwise I would keep my da buddha on 24/7

Im trying to limit the stress on the knob and heating element, so I thought not turning it off would help the knob. The problem is if I turn the heat completely down without turning it off, I putting the most stress on the element by switching from cold to hot back and forth.

So in conclusion, should I turn it off before I go to sleep? At what temp should I leave the element if turned on all day?

Thanks for quick reply.

Thats what I would do. To limit stress of clicking the nob from the on/off position I would keep it at the lowest possible level while still being ON to be on standby. Rarely did it go OFF except for extended periods of time.

Ok that's exactly what Im talking about. The temp setting that you thought it was standby could you see the heating element lit up or it was just off. And again, doesnt the change from hot and cold messes up the heating element?

Yesterday was my very first time using my new DBV and I left it for a long time at a steady warm heat to so I could turn it up as I hit it without going from cold to hot, so I preferred leaving it at 12'o clock as standby. What I did was wrong? Did I left it too long on 12'?
Also, if Im not gonna hit it until late at night should I leave it off during the day?

Sorry for all the questions is just that I like knowing these specific details to extend the life of my vape.

Thanks for the help, you guys are replying quicker than 7th Floor customer service.

Personally I turn my DBV off when not in use as I would rather have to replace the knob (if needed) than the heating element. I'm not one to deviate from the instruction manual unless developers on this website instruct me to do so. With that being said - 12 o'clock is a big difference from what others are advising - that would be leaving the heat totally active while not in use as if it's a log vape (and clearly it's not) - what they're recommending is to leave the knob turned almost all the way down - right before the actual "click" into the off position and leave the knob there. I have had my Buddha for years and for the majority of that time it has been my go to desktop (on and off all day) and never once have I had any issues with any part of the unit. Feel free to ask as many questions as you would like - thats why we're here. I also recommend reading as much of this forum as well - welcome to FC.

Thanks for all that info man. What I did last night of leaving in on for a couple of hours, was in a warm setting, the element was on but it had a faint orange as opposed as bright orange when its on blast. Do you think that Im my firsf use leaving it on like for a couple of hours put stress on the element on just my first use?

Thanks again for all the info and tips guys, really appreciate it.

Nah - the DBV is a tank - plus 7th floor really stands behind their stuff, Chris has always been good to me.

It looks like a tank too. I turned it up at max for the first 3 mins to start it up, then turn it back down to my preferred setting(12 o'clock).

When I finish Im going to keep it at 11 o'clock as it's stand by mode, which keeps the element warm(faint orange) until I turn it up again, which I think will cause the least stress on the element, since I wont be turning down the heat completely down and then back on every 40 mins.

Am I right or should I turn the temp down until the element is bone white between use?

You can, however as I said - I turn mine completely off after each use. you mentioned turning it back up to vape every 40 minutes, that's alot of vaping - I only point this out because I am jealous!
