A bed of ABV will help this be a success. The hash alone will after a number of stirs become messy, and will clog things.
The bed of ABV will allow as you stir between hits, for the hash to crumble, and start mixing with the abv which will provide a nice medium for it to vape on and within.
Some use fresh herb as a bed, but I do not .. to keep flavors pure.
hey guys just a quick question, is the heating element supposed to bob around a bit? just unboxed it and when you shake it you can kinda hear the element bobbing around.. and if you touch the element it just isnt tight its kindve loose and moves side to side, i dont want to touch it that much, just wondering if thats normal?
In my opinion, it helps when passing. It's not unsturdy, and you could theoretically tighten it but I trust what theyve manufactured. I've seen a few, all were loose, some more than others but no hit difference.yes it is loose.
Hey guys about a week in I'm still loving my DBV. It does exactly what I need it to do. I got a good deal on it at my local head shop and I feel its been worth every penny and then some. I most likely will never smoke in my home ever again.
I have a few minor questions to pose to experienced users of the DBV:
1) My whip keeps falling out of the wand once everything is heated up. Any common solutions to this problem?
2) The instructions say it's safe to leave on if you're looking at a several hour session. I guess this would be useful once the user obtains their optimal settings. Do you guys leave it on? I don't because I'm thinking it'll keep the unit alive a little longer. I don't know much about electrical engineering or anything, just using some basic logic there. Plus it just seems an unnecessary risk to leave any heating element on when you don't need to.
3) How fine to you grind your materials? I'm still experimenting. I mostly use a normal hand grinder and pack it down to about 1/4 of the bowl part of the wand. I tried some fine ground earlier but wasn't as into it. The air flow wasn't as good. My buddy was telling me that it doesn't matter because it all heats evenly. But I'm thinking the heating is one thing, but the airflow is probably just as crucial to vaporization so you'll want to find a grind that is "just right" so to speak. Not too coarse, not too fine.
- I leave mine on from about 5:00 pm to about 10:00 pm. In between sessions I just turn the heat down all the way but not off. I am more concerned about the switch malfunctioning over time than the heating element.
My SSV & DBV have been on 24/7 for 2 yearsThis, for the most part. The heat up/cool down probably causes the most stress on the actual heating element. The switch will probably wear more than the element. Seventh Floor has kept original DBV's and SSV's on 24/7 with no issues.
On another note, does anybody know how to keep the whip from smelling up the place? I store it in the provided bag, but I can *definitely* smell the whip whenever I am near it. I just cleaned the thing a week ago as well... :/
I may try leaving mine on more as opposed to turning off and on....what was mentioned about that putting the most stress on the heating element makes sense...yeah my DBV stays on for hours and sometimes days at a time. i try not to leave anything on or even plugged in when im not home, but when i get home its on until i go to sleep or remember it the next morning.
these things will run forever.
Hey DBV Users!
I am a clumsy fool, and have gone through three wands so far...
That being said the first two were identical, but with the newest one there is something different!
It seems that the good folks at 7th floor have redesigned the bowl piece where your screen sits. Where as in the past it was solid glass with a little hole i the middle (sort of like on a glass pipe) now the screen sits on a thin lip and you get WAY more airflow through it!
HUGE IMPROVEMENT IMO!
Edit: Ooops, sorry about the double post...
