Thanks for the quick response.Vitolo said:You do not have to connect anything.you place the thin metal sleeve in place, and slide the HC down. if it is loose , take the sleeeve off, and gently squeeze it this way and that slightly out of round here and theer. do this until the HC is snug. There is no other attaching needed.
I am looking now. Squeeze the top of the metal cylinder one way, and the bottom the other. ( BE GENTLE).. and this should make entire situation snug.
Take pictures if you can
...everything collects in the ash catcher, which I call my "hash catcher", so everything can be reclaimed. All the particulate matter, resin, etc. that usually ends up in your wand and whip is easily usable. I just use a glass rod and scrap out some every now and then for an extra punch. And you can also do a QWISO and easily get everything (i.e., nothing left in the whip tubing, etc.). No matter how much you try, I think the best way to clean a whip tube is to get a new one. I've tried the string/nail pull-through move, etc. but threre is always an odor and its eventually going to influence the taste and possibly effects. And the key for my set up is that almost nothing is wasted. Reduce, reuse, recycle!turtles said:what advantage does the empty ash catcher offer?
Can I still do this if I don't have a warranty? I bought the unit used and from the information on the back of the instructions pamphlet it seems like the limited 3-year warranty doesn't cover me.Ash057 said:IF you can be without it a week I recommend sending it to 7th Floor for repair. I am sure they will fix it for a reasonable fee. Sounds like it could just be the suport that holds the heater in place.Vapor Partisan said:Can I still do this if I don't have a warranty? Would 7th Floor potentially fix it for a fee? Anything that's less than the price of a new unit looks appealing at this point, if I can't just glue the metal cylinder into place.
yea the tubing can't be cleaned. I usually just replace it with some plumbing tubing I got from Menards. I just cut it to the length I want. I save my old tubes to run through ISO when I am ready to do a wash.treecityrnd said:...everything collects in the ash catcher, which I call my "hash catcher", so everything can be reclaimed. interesting, not viable for me (SSV is my daily driver, and not GONG)... but I really like where you're going with thattreecityrnd said:...everything collects in the ash catcher, which I call my "hash catcher", so everything can be reclaimed. I tried this with some pliers and the heater cover seems sturdily in place--for the moment. Thanks for clarifying your point there, it could turn out to be a money-saver for me.Vitolo said:I may not have explained well. The cylinder can be removed. then you can work it's shape a little bit, and get it just right.

edit;
You will have to ship it one way, They will pay to ship it back!
yea I have noticed that if you run ISO through the tubes you can never get that taste/smell of the alcohol out of them. That is why I just replace rather than clean.Vitolo said:The tubing can be cleaned.
It may remain discolored on the end nearest the DBV... but the tube you see here is dead clean.
I wash it out with dish soap and hot water.. and rinse well, with a cool rinse after, and dry it with a shopvac.
I have used the tube in this picture all day every day for a bit over 2 years.
I clean my wand with Iso and dish soap and water every few days also (I do save the Iso rinse form the glass)
I do have a second wand/whip I use, for company.. it is a year old, and it also is yellowed a bit but still supple and smells fine!

You can run Iso or everclear though them for a wash first, but I don't do that very often, as I wash the tubes regularly!
(I am on my original screen on that wand also!)
Agreed.. that is why:VapeNStone said:I have noticed that if you run ISO through the tubes you can never get that taste/smell of the alcohol out of them. That is why I just replace rather than clean.
I use Hot water and Dish Soap (I like Dawn). After a hot water rinse, I follow with a long cold water rinse.Vitolo said:You can run Iso or everclear though them for a wash first, but I don't do that very often, as I wash the tubes regularly!
