Here's a lengthy write up of my experience with Da Buddha so far.... I sold my Solo for this DBV.
I walked in a local head shop and they had a Da Buddha on a shelf.. It was 220$ and I was able to show prices of Da Buddha online and told them that I would prefer to support my LHS but couldn't justify paying the price tag slapped on the Da Buddha. I was able to get it down to 143$ (154$ after taxes) I went ahead and got it. Got home, went through my hemp bag.. Lo and Behold! There was an oil wand in there too! So I figured I got a hell of a deal.
I assembled it, pushed down the heating cover, grinded up flowers and loaded the wand up... I was struggling with the temperatures and getting vapor. I was getting no or thin vapor even after letting the DBV heat up on max for a bit. I was frustrated and put it away.. Went online and read this thread on DBV and I found one post talking about the heating element falling down and having to pull it back up. I instantly went to DBV.. AHA! The heating element fell too far down so I pulled it back up... Heated it up on max again and my friend who wanted to try it showed up and we was able to have two of the best tasting vapors, vapor clouds, and we had maybe 40 minute sesh off 2 bowls (the wand was around 1/3 to 1/2 filled)
I'm impressed.. I have owned MFLB, Pax, Solo, Volcano, and Cloud+... This is a VERY SOLID vaporizer. I am still struggling with the drawing speed to start up the bowl when I insert the wand into DBV and to keep it constant.. using by myself- I am able to keep my vapor flowing until the bowl is spent.. I vaped with a different friend and he kept killing the bowl with his bad drawing techniques. When he started to pick the technique up, we was able to use it efficiently.
So far, to vape by myself, it wrecks me pretty good off not much... I really like the flexibility of the amount I have to use but I am still figuring out how to use it with friends..
I need to practice more with it to master it and that comes at the expense of flowers.. I hope to nail down the learning curve with it so I can go back to being more efficient with my flowers. I will start messing with aromatherapy when I get the glass top and waxes/oils to see how well it does bringing aroma to my living room, etc..
The DBV feels pretty fucking solid IMO, the glass seems to have good quality- My friend pulled out the wand and it went straight to a cement floor and didn't break or anything like that, gave me a scare- When I lock the handsfree in the GONG connector, it usually stays there like a rock. I am already using it tilted like the SSV.. I am thinking of maybe trying to find something or make custom base to replace the current base so it would be tilted permanently. My birthday is coming up, I am already asking for a custom glass knob to replace my current dial...
I sold my solo... I am gambling on the Grasshopper to fill in my ultraportable/portable needs. If it comes through as a convection pen.. If not then I will hold back for something that is very portable. DBV is going to be my whip vape that stays at home ready to use when I need it. After the grasshopper, I might get another desktop but as of now, DBV is going to be my daily driver.
Would I recommend this to others? Yes. It is one of few vaporizers out there that is nearly pure- just glass/ceramic/air, no metals or anything like that. I am a convection boy, I will avoid all conduction vapes. For the price and the versaility of handling herbs, oils, and aromatherapy. I don't even foresee much cleaning with this unit except for replacing hoses or maybe occasional scraping of the wand.
I still have a question.. When the DBV is done heating up, I usually turn it back to around 12-2 o clock on the dial, I would insert the wand, do I leave it there for a while to let it heat up or do I hit it instantly? Sometimes I get vapor instantly and sometimes I do not at all... I am still trying to figure out how to start vaping but when I get it going- it's not even a problem for me until it is spent.
