I'm going to be getting some ready for display. Hopefully I can make something you all may be interested in. Let me know what length stems you are interested in. Im still new so learning anodizing and different finishes still.

The homie @SuperD is located in Massachusetts so for us domestic people, this is a great choice if you don't want to wait months on a list or want a Ti stem in that waiting period. I ordered one yday, and got tracking from super earlier this morning, and can't wait to try it (went with 80mm this time).

I'm going to be making these as a kickstarter to hopefully get some better tools in the future and the ability to do different finishes and anodizing options. 80mm stems will be starting at 30$ +shipping. I want to make sure you will be getting what you want so ill send pictures while I'm working on them. Thank u for the support. Ps thinking of making beads too. Trying to think of other things to make too.:)

Hey all I learned a cheep way using 9v batteries to anodized the stems I'll show pictures of this mad scientist process muahahahaha. Also I'm looking for suggestions for finishes and colors. Thanks spread the word if you want.:clap:

My stem came in today, and I really love the rustic looks it gives. Very nice and solid. Thanks again Sean, and I'll pick up another stem soon seeing as you have been coming up with new designs so quickly haha. Thanks again for the stem and just being just a super chill dude.

Thanks for the patients hear it is glow in the dark finish can be added to any finish with grooves. This is a prototype hopefully have more color options soon.

My anodizing stuff came in so now I can do solid colors too. I'm going to work on some stems to show off. If u like one I would gladly sell.

Some small things that will make your work easier,quicker and safer.

1 ) Get one of these :https://www.homedepot.com/b/Plumbing-Plumbing-Tools-Pipe-Tube-Cutting/N-5yc1vZc4ft

Those pipe cutters are meant for cutting copper and plastic pipes.
But with a bit of oiling the blade and going slow on the pressure ,,it cuts Titanium like butter.
And straight .Then it may need some grinding on the inner tube ,cause the wheel blade of the cutter
forms a "lip " as it cuts through the material.

2 ) Get one or couple of these : https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-Metal-Buffing-Kit-7-Piece-A10BK71/205642376

ALWAYS after making a rough texture ,then buffer the texture with the felt wheel
-save the cloth wheel for mirror polishing .
You're not aiming for a mirror polish ,but to smooth out the texture.


3 ) Place the stem on the chuck of a drill .
Find a way to stabilise the drill on a bench .
Set the lowest speed .
Set the drill ON ( use the lock button )
Work the stems with files ( for grooves & curved edges )
and sandpapers ( 400 ,600 and 2000 is the three grits you will need ) .

4 ) Personal Safety Equipment : Protective goggles & thick nitrile gloves -and filter mask if fine dust is being produced

@stardustsailor Thanks so much for these tips. I just recently got the tube cutter and wow so much easier I got a few table clamp coming in too. I am a big fan of your work so I really do appreciate the tips.

-Always use couple drops of a thin oil a the wheel blade.Each time you will cut a new piece.

-Tight the knob a bit more for the first turn.In order for a "clean" and "straight " cutting path to be formed.Then back the knob a bit and turn the cutter 3-4 times before re-adjusting the blade pressure .If you go "lightly"on the first turn and if the blade wheel is not tight (has horizontal backlash) then you might be cutting into a spiral path.Not good.

-Check the axle screw of the wheel blade.Tight a bit if it's loose enough.

-Oil the axle (inner part of the forementioned screw ) of the wheel blade, too.

-Grease the adjusting knob threads .

Yes ,gladly to share that little "secret " with you .

You will need these :

-Ammonium Sulfate (NH4)2SO4 : That is the main electrolyte salt .It is a common lawn fertilizer .
-Ammonium Bicarbonate (NH4)HC03 : used for "raising" baked goodies ( cakes,bread,etc )
- Distilled water .
- Dish washing liquid detergent
-pH measuring strips
/ measuring device.

1) For every liter ( 1000 ml /cc ) of distilled water ,add one to three grams of
Ammonium Sulfate .Shake vigorously.

2) Then adjust the pH of the electrolyte to be slightly alkaline ( pH : 7,5 - 8 ) ,
by adding small amounts of Ammonium bicarbonate .

3) Add one or two drops of dish washing liquid detergent (i.e Fairy ) .
That is the electrolyte's wetting agent.
It will lower the surface tension of the electrolyte's water,allowing for better
contact between the electrolyte ions and Titanium surface.
Thus ,you will achieve better anodizing results.

4) Let it cool and store in a clean plastic container at the fridge ,at 4°C ( 39,2 °F ) .

5) Every time you use ( while anodising ) the electrolyte it has to be really cool ( ~ 4°C ) .

6) Do not throw away the used electrolyte.
Pour it back inside the plastic container and store it at 4°C ( 39,2 °F )
If it is not contaminated with tap water or any other chlorine ion containing salt or liquid ,
it can be used indefinitely

That is actually one of the best
(non-toxic ,environmentally friendly ,high hue saturation,low cost,easy to make ,etc)
electrolyte solutions for anodizing titanium and very saturated hues can be achieved when using this electrolyte.

To conclude this evaluation and optimisation of process characteristics, it is possible to state that (NH4)2SO4 and NH4BF4 represent the best electrolytes to obtain wide ranges of colours with high saturation, with optimised high anodising kinetics. The former is suggested when ideal reproducibility is required, but larger voltages are needed to increase the range of colours, which increases the equipment costs: as already proposed, this could be suitable for architectural panels. Conversely, the latter allows to achieve the same colour spectrum with lower voltages, at the expense of colour reproducibility: the higher colour saturation makes this process particularly suitable for seminoble jewels production. Both of them present similar cost and no toxicity to the environment, thus eliminating environmental risks associated with waste management.
