Edit: I was all caught up this last week but it's been a busy weekend for orders. I will do my best to get all orders done this next week.

Any new orders today will have to wait a few day for more material to come in.

edit2: I picked up one of these digital dual ktype temp probe thermometer to try. I drilled two small 1/16th hole into each of my jaws, inserted the probes and added a drop of jbweld to secure them in place. It's very nice being able to measure the temp for each jaw individually without having to stick the meat thermometer between the jaws and wait. They seem to be within a degree of my meat thermometer.

I thought it would be cool to have digital irons to play with temps but I honestly don't use them anymore. They were fun at first, but once I found the temp that got my irons to 200F, I just left it at that temp and never touched it. I use my analog irons now because they heat up a little faster, they take up less room since they don't have a controller box, and once I found the right temp (200F) using my thermocouple, I don't even touch the temp on the analog irons anymore either!

I also like that fact that the analog irons are $12 each where's the digital irons are much more expensive.

It's all personal preference. This was just my experience.

The first link looks even better IMO since the digital controller is right on the iron.

After further review, I will no longer be offering glue in jaws. Only bolt in jaws and press blocks.

Also, these soldering irons should never be left unattended. Please turn them off when not in use as they heat up pretty quick. The temps we run the iron at for squishing are much hotter than the blocks themselves and they will catch stuff on fire out side of the blocks. Be safe please.

I am working on a way to keep the soldering irons secured in the blocks with either a retaining wire or a set screw on future blocks. In the mean time, for those using vises, I suggest running the cord under the vise jaws so the cord is pointing in the same direction as the tip of the iron. Secure the cord with some tape to keep it from getting pinched if needed. Then, If the cord gets pulled, it will pull the irons into the jaws, instead of out.

This concludes today's safety meeting.

In other business news, I have all pending orders cut out and drilled as of today, but I will not be in the shop tomorrow. I am aiming for Wednesday or Thursday to ship everything pending.

Sounds great Joel! I'm ordering the soldering iron's tonight.

No worries here on leaving equipment powered on.

I'm too paranoid to even let the hair straightener stay on when leaving the room. I used to build munitions when I was in the USAF. Safety first!

For those that don't know me, I lurked on these forums for quite some time and used to just run open blast BHO and mason jar QWET until I heard about Rosin.

I was pressing flowers by hand with a hair straightener until I decided to try making bubble hash for the first time and pressing that instead.

Bubble hash has been much more rewarding but that's only going to last for so long. I just don't have the material to keep it going.

I still have some White Siberian nugs and some SFV OG bubble hash to press though.

So, I'll be up and running with a 1 ton arbor press and the Joel W. plates soon :)

Anyone here running an arbor press with these yet? I'm considering the 3 ton from Northern Tool for $250, which seems like a nice upgrade from the 1 ton from them or Harbor Freight. There are also some interesting 3 ton ratchet-style presses for around $300.

I have not made a set for an arbor press connection as of yet. I am making a set now for a customer, pics tomorrow or the next day. Someone may be using glue in blocks now that I think about it.

Edit: How is your vise holding up?

Update: New welded 2"x2" blocks, as of tonight, will be 1/2" thick CuNi plate stacked and welded instead of .098" thick pieces stacked up. They should perform exactly the same, but look a little cleaner.

No promises here, at all, about anything,, but I also ordered a few 150w cartridge heaters to play with.

I received some bad news at work the other day. Times are tough in my industry right now and things are changing soon beyond my control.

I am not sure what exactly is going to happen yet, but my fear is I will be too busy to continue this thread or not in the shop enough to continue this thread properly.

I will continue taking in orders until next Friday, but after that, I can not make any promises.

Thanks for all the support here, I have really enjoyed making these for everyone over the last 4 months.

I really hate to hear this and I'm bummed many others won't get to experience your wonderful jaws! I am so glad I was able to get a pair for my vise and H press. Even though it was only for a short period of time, I think your plate designs were the best I've seen IMO :tup: thank you again Joel for all of your hard work and knowledge that you brought to the newly emerging rosin industry! :clap:I wish you all the best and I hope you stick around the site!
