I'm very interested in a Song for the haze...that is way up my alley.
Almost done! I vapor polished the r3 mold several hours ago, casting the next SonG tonight

I think I've got the exterior profile designed. Both the 14mm and 18mm sections of the SonG are 10mm tall, and have a proper 1:10 taper to achieve the proper fit. I've been testing in all my glass, but I'll need feedback from others to determine if I need any more changes to the exterior. This may be one of those designs which evolves over time (or I might offer more than 1 size diameter vapor path to fit vapes with larger mouthpieces)

Hopefully I'll have my new "Universal" waterpipe adapter available sometime this week! I might offer some sort of "beta test" program to compile a list of compatible vaporizers. Since In reality, the pliability of the silicone should let it fit MANY different shapes and sizes.

I tried a prototype adapter with my wife's disposable e-cig for shits and giggles. Early tests are VERY promising that this adapter will work with many vapes

Thanks! Those are all valid points. I had felt the same way, Etsy's search engine really sucked. But it was helpful to get started. Now it's time for me to branch out!

The timing worked out good for me as well. I wanted to organize all my accessories into categories, one for each vaporizer. About a week before my Etsy shop was closed down, I discovered there was a limit of 10 categories per shop!

-----

I'm still hard at work producing several new accessories right now. I'll be making an announcement in the near future once I add several more items to my store.

The "Nearly Universal Silicone Waterpipe adapter" is almost finished! Had to outsource half the mold to Shapeways, hopefully it'll be shipped next week so I can launch that product.

Double post but needed to separate topics.

FYI--- another use of the Ratchett Songs is for a whip - to - whip extender/adapter.
A longer whip provides a cooler vapor.
I needed to test a vape and not put my mouth on that whip so came up with this extension
which gives cooler vapor.
..............................................................................................................
Another new setup.
So, I wanted to test a new miniVAP before sending it out but did not want to contaminate the whip. I assembled the flexicone plus whip and then:
used one of my standard whips (MFLBwhip and Ratchett miniVAP Song adapter) as an extension to the stock flexicone plus whip.
Used with empty basket to make sure it was heating up.

I then tried this longer whip on my unit with bud and it does cool it more than with just the flexicone plus whip or just the MFLB whip.

If you have the Ratchett Song you may want to experiment with this.

But I like it!
I have enough EQ glass around I *should* be able to vape from the deck while the vape is still in the house... I'm just not sure how effective a really long whip would be... So having said that - whats a reasonable whip length for coolness *and* not having to purge air from it before getting to the vapour?

@Ratchett do you have any plug designs for the fbomb mouthpiece?

I'd like to have a plug for both the 14mm female joint and the mouthpiece so cleaning will be less of a hassle.

I believe I might. Can you measure the diameter of the mouthpiece for me? I might even have one already made and ready to ship

Greetings all!

I'm still here, busy as usual. Keep those PM's coming, don't be shy! I love 3D printing and I love sharing my knowledge with everyone. (It's really cool to think that my 3D printed accessories may be the first item you've ever held made by a home 3D printer)

I'd like to introduce two new accessories now available on my store!

Introducing the Nu-SonG - Nearly Universal Waterpipe Adapter (For small mouthpieces)
IMG_0074__74523.1425606294.1280.1280.jpg

This adapter is a few months in the making. It's really a Frankenstein creation based on feedback from fellow FC members. I designed it initially to work with the Haze vaporizer, but quickly realized the prototypes worked with a variety of vapes (and e-cigs!). It works with both 14mm and 18mm female joints, so it should work with a wide variety of glass.

NOTE I am running an early-adopter promotion for customers who test the adapter with a vape not on the list of confirmed vapes. Details listed on the product page

Also, by popular demand. An 18mm to 14mm silicone reducer
reducer2__11288.1425250196.1280.1280.jpg

I have had several requests for this specific accessory. An unbreakable reducer (ok, it'll break if cut or stretched, but not dropped!). This adapter went through several iterations before I found a comfortable inner and outer diameters to make it a nice fit for both the 18mm and 14mm ends of the adapter.

I've got another accessory coming out later this week, stay tuned for more info!

I'm going to buy one of these "Nearly Universal Silicone Waterpipe adapter" for mi ESV for sure! Just one question, when it arrives it will be "cured" or I have to do something with it?

Well, I typically try to cast several copies of each Silicone adapter listed on my store so they have time to cure. However, since those adapters are relatively new, they may not be 100% cured yet.

I use an RTV Silicone - Room Temperature Vulcanization. The vinegar smell (Acetic Acid) is off-gassed as the silicone cures (at room temperature). The smell will fade every day that passes. When you receive the part, it may be fully cured, or it may have a slight vinegar smell. If there's a smell, let them sit out for several days in a warm room to air out. Once the smell is gone, go ahead and give it a bath in ISO or warm water if you want.

Unfortunately I've gone quite nose-blind to the smell when I'm in the basement, so I really am not the best judge of how well it's cured (I often hand two prototype adapters to my wife and say "smell this! Which smells the least??")

Fortunately however I already have several Nu-SonG's cast and ready to ship. They have already started curing, and will only have a slight smell if any by the time they reach Spain!

Thanks for your interest

Any advances on the formed screen press? TIA :peace:

Just had 1000 HeavyDuty SS screens delivered yesterday :D

Printed my first (And second!) prototype screen presses last night and tried to press the baskets. Sadly i exerted way too much force (using a vice!) to only get half of the screen formed.

I have revised the mold with lessons learned and added some chamfered edges to reduce resistance on the screen, but I haven't printed that yet.

I think I may introduce some sort of mechanical leverage through the use of a nut, two large washers, and a thumb-nut to make it easier for people to make a screen. I might also upgrade this part to ABS or PET+ plastic for increased durability of the press over it's lifespan.

More testing is needed, but here's the latest basket screen press prototype

This is only for prototype testing the press shape, the finished version will be very different based on my experiments with the prototypes.

powerful @Ratchett! Recieved shipping notification same day as order placed!

The universal adapter will be put to good use with Herbie, Haze, the Ascent, and a few flowermates!

I'm also looking forward to the plugs and adapters. It's really great for us to have folks like @Ed's TnT and @Ratchett really innovating and driving change!

 I typically try to ship ASAP so I don't have that stress of finishing the order hanging over my head, and to avoid getting behind. (Plus I put a priority on orders over R&D, so the faster I process orders, the faster I can get back to finishing new inventions)

@Ed's TnT and I have spoken on the phone several times, he's a great guy (I hope we get to meet in person one day soon!). I think he'd agree with me, we feel blessed to be a part of this awesome community!

Edit - Just noticed this thread is officially 1 year old today, WOOT!! :spliff:
How about a 48 hour sale for FC members to honor it! Please see my Signature for the coupon code

@virtualpurple Wow thanks bro, but I am sure I can speak for @Ratchett when I say that I at least wouldnt be anywhere with you all being the greatest bunch of people here at FC to give us inspiration, input and hell for sending me vapes to work with, you all enthusiasm in what we do and joy as well as love for what we are able to create. When I started my biz it was just pipes and dugouts that was it, a guy here at FC a damn good guy pitched an idea at me, I got a lathe and one thing led to another. Hell I was turning just plain jane stems for the longest time before I ever thought to step out of the box I was in all because of you all here! Whats really great for me has been my time at FC and you all that are a big big reason why I am and who I will continue to be for you all and anyone else I can do something for in any way possible!

Thank you everyone for being a part of a wonderful place where I seem to spend a lot of time and enjoy you all as family!

Well @rathett I was posting my feelings and looked and it said there had been another post just a minute or two above mine, well when I hit the post button there the screen refreshes and there ir your post! Thanks for speaking for me as I thought you might feel in mine. You yourself are a stand up guy, I have always enjoyed our talks and time rapping about this or that. You do great things here for anyone and everyone that pitches an idea at you are all over it and I am sure you get the same feeling as I do, the gears start grinding in your head and you may already have a mountain of work that needs to be done but you cant get the idea of the new stuff out of your head until you do it and thats it, it just has to be done come hell or high water its gonna bug the ever living shit out of you until you do! I do look at your work from time to time and can see it in the thread, just cant wait to see what your into in 5 years with more cash invested in what you do and what you have become those will be the days and all because of the great people here at FC!

Haha, Indeed @Ed's TnT. I rarely have time to work on my own inventions because I get flooded with requests for various accessories! You have no idea how many folders I have full of 3D models of half-finished prototype inventions just waiting to be finished (or waiting for a new high-temperature food-safe 3D printable material to be released!). Luckily for me, it's all digital, so my office remains relatively 'clean' ha ha ha

3D printing is an exciting industry and it's only growing. I love hearing people's ideas and what they think about, there's so many opportunities, and not enough time to chase them all. While 3D printing does expand the capabilities of what can be made, there is still that gorgeous aesthetic appeal of wood grains in your accessories. No matter how hard I try, I will never replicate the beauty of a turned block of wood!

Still, I too am anxious thinking about what the next 5 years will hold for me in this industry. I really hope one day to offer 3D printed waterpipes and bubblers so exotic they make a mothership look like amateur work!

While I'm at it, allow me to introduce my latest accessory
The Haze Vaporizer Stand
IMG_0126__31954.1426369279.1280.1280.jpg

This stand has been a work in progress for the past month. I designed over 20 different 'dock' shapes for the Haze before I came up with one that fit the Haze perfectly.

The fun part about 3D printing is that I can design the model, and then crop (slice) the model to extract *just* the section I need to test-fit. This saves me time and money (and reduces waste plastic!) - instead of waiting 6 hours to finish a whole stand, I can print the test slice in under 45 minutes. Once I was happy with the Haze section of the stand, I printed a complete draft prototype to test the fit of all the sections (and to share a picture on the Haze thread to get some feedback). Once I had the core stand designed, I added the honeycomb texture to the sides and custom text to the front.
